Linux kernel development is anarchistic and our work is involved, dependant and related to this organizational type. Adding too strick wireframe and being harsh where is absolutely no need might be more damaging ... and a waste of time if you like that kind of word form. Scaring people not to come out with their ideas because somebody will bark at them how stupid they are might be also a waste of time. And damaging. Most people around the project are volunteers after all and demanding ultimate compliance won't work. Being a pro/cash has little effect on this either.

Talking and discussing every possible matter consumes human resources which, frankly we don't have in indefinite capacity. Nobody has. Somebody has to lead and coordinate this web redesign and until this is mostly on me, I will resolve minor disputes instantly or I will not deal with this in any way. This is not a military precision stuff! Why do we need to panic? It's plenty of time, this is not print media and mistakes can be fixed.

And I will for sure do more mistakes in the future. Perhaps even repeat them, which I hope not.

If you think everything is waste of time, take a break from extreme specifics ... even this can be considered as a waste of time from a radical point of view.

You have possible future boards in the dedicated section and there is a place for discussion if needed. There is no rush - take time. It's your right to write down that all boards sux and is pointless to deal with it. Should this change anything? Not necessarily and it should be this way.

Wish to add s5p6818 to the Armbian exists and we did some small progress on this. There is one image for Nanopi M3 and a kernel 4.4.y showed up (untested) recently for those chips ... beside stock 3.4.y which is too old to deal with and officially EOL.

More people on the project helps more than cash here and there. Our group is small and a lot of work is expected to get this chip/those boards on a decent level. If there will be just a few people dealing with s5p6818, progress will remain slow.
  8. chwe liked a post in a topic by Igor in Move img from EMMC then to another board EMMC

For low-mid-cost SD card, this is completely normal. We plan to push development on an eMMC flasher (from SD or via FEL mode), which will speed this process up dramatically. But it will be a direct copy only, which means limited customization options.

We always write major changes to release documentation.

Im running Armbian Debian Stretch mainline  with 4.14.3-rt4 on a NanoPi Neo Plus2 ( Allwinner H5 ).
The patch applied just fine and performance is good.

The card is most likely not properly initialized in u-boot, while kernel support exists. This card works fine on Clearfog with a very similar kernel configuration.

Check below which one is tested / working https://www.armbian.com/espressobin/ ... ath9k works, while no AC speed on those.

This means we have some trouble with the repository. You don't need to do anything. It will be fixed asap / eventually.

At least that is correct  Only BSP package was updated and at least most non-cosmetic problems were fixed ... Well, we need yet another mini updated.

There are only experimental 4.13.y builds and yes its planned when ready and tested.

That is completely normal.  SD card content is left as is. We only alter boot environment when SD card is needed for booting.

We only fixed bugs inboard support package scripts. There were no kernel updates and this problem need to be investigated. It's nothing critical so you can normally use the board.

Cosmetic issue. All images are labeled user-build since I have build parameter in a file and that file (lib.config) is read within configuration.sh later than this:
    https://github.com/armbian/build/blob/master/lib/main.sh#L69

    Moving(or copying) read configuration up?

We use systemd-networkd at Espressobin. Check those manuals/examples:

    http://xmodulo.com/switch-from-networkmanager-to-systemd-networkd.html
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/systemd-networkd

    Leave /etc/network/interfaces empty.

A whole nightly building is on hold until upcoming bugfix release. Since I am currently playing out with Tinkerboard, I will make them and upload probably once during a day. If this is not fast enough, you need to setup build environment.

  17. Igor liked a post in a topic by Technicavolous in Why are you using Armbian?
Armbian ROCKS in a classroom environment - everyone has their own board and still things work remarkably similar.  There is very little hardware specific stuff a student needs to differentiate from the instructions given.

May not seem like much, but so far we've got 14 kids to use a board other than a RPi and 'learn linux.' (I think a couple of adults secretly use their kids Odroids late at night ...)

Go to armbian-config -> system -> hardware configuration and enable USB ports on your own. Simple as that. If it doesn't work we need to look closely ...

I just released the source code to a very simple weather monitoring app. I wrote it to run on my Orange Pi Zero and make use of a few environmental sensors (Bosch BME280 and AMS CCS811), along with a SSD1306 OLED. It records the data every ten seconds into a CSV text file.

It's just a simple idea that I had to monitor the conditions overnight in my kids' bedroom since our place doesn't heat/cool evenly.
