  2. Thanks - the latest legacy desktop image here https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-one/ does not appear to handle 4K video out of the box. The desktop runs in 4K, and I can play a 720p video, but 1080p starts lagging, and 4K fails to open. mpv output when playing 1080p video: bryan@orangepione:~$ mpv --fs Desktop/Star\ Wars\ -\ The\ Last\ Jedi\ -\ Teaser.mp4 Playing: Desktop/Star Wars - The Last Jedi - Teaser.mp4 [ffmpeg/demuxer] mov,mp4,m4a,3gp,3g2,mj2: stream 0, timescale not set (+) Video --vid=1 (*) (h264) Video --vid=2 [P] (mjpeg) (+) Audio --aid=1 --alang=eng (*) (aac) File tags: Artist: Lucasfilm Genre: Trailer Title: Star Wars: The Last Jedi [VDPAU SUNXI] VE version 0x1680 opened [VDPAU SUNXI] OSD enabled, using pixman AO: [pulse] 44100Hz stereo 2ch float Using hardware decoding (vdpau). 3. Can anyone confirm that they have been able to view a 4K video, output to a 4K display (@30fps) on Orange Pi (lower end boards like One/Lite)? What software/configuration were used?
  4. I am planning a project for a few Orange Pi Lites as multimedia devices. I have been testing applications on the Lite with it unenclosed, and without a heatsink and haven't seen any issues with heat so far (running at 1.2 GHz). Is there a general consensus on if this board should have a heatsink when clocked at 1.2 GHz (and is enclosed)? The intended case design has vents.
  5. I cannot get this behavior to work by default. Is there a known issue with it?
  6. Do I need to download a whole new image or can I update my existing installation? BTW, the legacy desktop images for Orange Pi PC and Orange Pi Plus still both have a 2/2/2017 build date, even though the file dates are 2/5.
  7. Oh, just my luck - the build is from 2/2/17. Is there a new image available for the Orange Pi Plus? I just downloaded again, and the file has the same MD5 hash.
  8. What is the max current that the Orange Pi Plus (or other boards) can output for USB devices? Assume there is a high quality 3A power supply. For example, on Raspberry Pi it is documented here: https://www.raspberrypi.org/help/faqs/#powerReqs Note that the output amount is configurable on RPi (you must manually enable 1.2A output) - is there anything similar for OPi? Here is what needs to be changed in the boot config on an Rpi to change the power from 6mA to 1.2A: http://elinux.org/RPiconfig#USB_Power Thank you!
  9. I am running the desktop Ubuntu Xenial legacy image from https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-plus/. My goal is to setup the system for gaming, so I am looking to get the accelerated GPU performance. A couple questions: 1. Does this image run with an accelerated driver enabled by default? When loading applications that use GL, I see a log about not being able to load the mali driver. 2. If not, where can I get the driver and how can it be enabled? I know that distributions like RetrOrangePi include this by default, but I want to understand what they are loading so I can setup the system on my own. Thank you!
