OpenVPN service doesn't seem to start

Hello everybody, this is my very first post on armbian forum!

I wanted to give a try to armbian on my bananapi M1 so I'm running the Debian Jessie server version.

I formerly used both raspbian and bananian and always ran OpenVPN server in order to be able to connect home when I'm away.

This time I reconfigured the service from scratch following this guide: https://wiki.debian.org/OpenVPN

My problem is that I after the set up the daemon doesn't seem to start for real... :-/

The output of "service openvpn status" command report the service as running. On the other side, netstat on the server and telnet from a client on port 1194 act as the service isn't running. Even the tun0 interface doesn't appear on the "ifconfig -a" output.

I already try to restart the service and also to reboot.

Anybody has an idea or experienced something similar before?

Thank you all!

Hello again!

After some troubleshooting I noticed one of the certificate files had a 0 byte size. I repeated the whole procedure and now the service works with no problems.

So the debian wiki is good for armbian.

The "openvpn /etc/openvpn/server.conf" command helped in the troubleshooting.

You can mark the topic as solved.

Bye!
