using a CSI camera with armbian nightly

hi,

i would like to make videos with a orange pi as basis and would like to start with this camera:

HTB1hqDbLpXXXXXbXpXXq6xXFXXXr.jpg?size=9

which came with my pi. thought it would run out of the box...but it doesnt :(

after looking trough the forums it is obvious that camera support seems to be quite problematic but i found this thread:

where at the end the user: IgZero says that he got some camera (maybe not mine) working with 5.20 and then updating it to the current version.

but he does not say if he started with a debian or ubuntu based source....

any ideas on how to get this camera going?
im also willing to flash another, even older version of armbian to the sdcard.

just need picture output.

Try this:

Edit: if you can't make it from source, download 5.20 image and check script.bin if twi2 is disabled so the camera module can detect the sensor. There is a thread about this.

youre right, 5.20 works

i can take pictures and make movies, although the movies do not seem to get 30fps.....more like 20 or the camera cant handle recording a hand winking in front of it in kinds of speed...the movements are blurry

What player / program are you using?

Make sure to use a player which uses vdpau for encoding.

(For instance mplayer, but I am not sure if vdpau works with mainline kernel, I only tested an csi cam on legacy)
