Igor reacted to manuti in More proper testing - better Armbian experience
I tested Orange Pi PC on Orange Pi One, I don't know if this is useful:
    uname -a shows:
    orangepipc 4.9.0-sun8i #56 SMP Wed Nov 23 01:04:34 CET 2016 armv7l armv7l armv7l GNU/Linux armbianmonitor - u uploaded data to : http://sprunge.us/UPAE

I don't know if you also want such format for feedback, but here it is:

Card                        Boot         Network         HDMI         Install         Date                  Performed by
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Orange Pi One        yes             yes               no               yes            25.11.2016        manuti

I update the image and install docker from the default repositories, in the webpage from armbianmonitor I can't see the temperature and of course the HDMI is not working.

After formatting and copying Armbian image on my SD card I can verify that my Orange Pi 2 wifi works 100% correct !

I really needed that wifi as I use my OP2 to control my CNC machine which is in a place without any LAN network.

    Thank you very much!

PS. Also installed Java 8 (JRE) an works good !

This is somehow expected. You need to use our tools, which uses proper config and additional patches which are not (yet) mainlined.

Edit: stick to kernel 4.8.x, on older you will need to adjust patches.

Using the new kernel seems to have solved the issue. I've been running all my Orange Pis since the 16th with no OOM issues.

apt-get install armbian-firmware-full  ... should solve a problem at least with firmware.

Sorry, can't recommend you any rock solid USB wifi adapter. The problem is usually a combination with a driver ... I am not aware how is the quality of a driver, which is a part of a Pain64 kernel ... but you can always try an alternative solution: https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Advanced-Features/#how-to-build-a-wireless-driver

Someone may argue this but I think good WiFi chips are rare goods and usually PCI-based - Atheros / Broadcomm / Intel. They are installed into (solid / good) routers, APs and they can easily cost way more than an ARM board. Even those sometimes refuse to work out of the box

Just another quick idea. Again, these images are provided in the highest resolution asked for, but can easily be saved in all resolutions needed.  All art was created using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, all document files will be provided.

I've prepared a new SD card from scratch with 5.20 image + all updates  + 5.24 beta u-boot for the test. Several reboots with this clean image but still unstable on my cubietruck. Probably a different hardware revision?

On my "production" SD card with u-boot 5.20 (otherwise same packages and same jessie legacy kernel) everything is rock solid. There i can Lima Tester for hours without problems.

In order to completely rule out hardware problems I've ordered another (used) cubietruck. As soon as it is delivered I'm able to do more testing.

Yesterday he had also a great day, banned one account, censored a whole thread away and in two other threads important information:
here he deleted the last post mentioning that there's now also an Armbian Desktop image available (beta) And in this thread he deleted posts containing the following information: Firefox works without any problems on Armbian, that's simply since we install the armhf version by default on the desktop image since the arm64 version shows problems (this 'trick' can of course also be used to cure even the most crappy OS images for Pine64: on the broken Debian images from Pine wiki it's just 'apt-get purge firefox && apt-get install firefox:armhf' and those steps in between) Chromium with our Armbian desktop image is just a simple 'apt-get install chromium', there's really no need to install .deb packages from linaro or somewhere else. Using Chromium with '--disable-seccomp-filter-sandbox' is a bad idea, it would be better to address the problem (kernel fix needed?) If one wants to use '--disable-seccomp-filter-sandbox' though this can be added to all 'Exec' occurences in /usr/share/applications/chromium-browser.desktop So he managed to make Pain64 land great again, instead of informing people that there is software available that doesn't suck they (Pine Inc folks and their beloved premium moderator) ensure that no one knows, that people still use outdated, smelly and broken OS images containing numerous serious flaws and that nothing will change. Users are not informed that there are working 3rd party OS images existent in the meantime and users aren't tought how to use Firefox if they want since one person is allowed what he does best all the time: censoring everything he doesn't understand.

Igor reacted to Christos in Armbian framework with RT patches no longer builds!!
    Ok,

Thanks @sanctus , the kernel option specify [1..5] in RT is quite crucial as it seems.
In earlier builds, until 27/Oct, Armbian got build ok (but eventually probably was giving issues as later on found out) with option 5 in kernel RT configure.
Now, in latest releases (5.24) it reports error even in build phase.

Tried the RT option 4, so far with OPi ONE & PCPlus, in both, armbian is building now ok and the timeout errors I got previously now they have gone.
At least found out that the RT option plays a significant role in both the armbian build itself and in the filesystem behavior later on.

@Igor ,  from the latest tests, I see stable performance with the current RT patches up to option 4 for OPi ONE & PCPlus.

We sometimes change for whatever reason which image will be provided for download and we can't build all possible combinations, since this is time consuming job. But we provide updates for all builds, even daily.

    You have few options:

    1. Check archive if you find older version and upgrade it
    2. Build on your own
    3. Wait, since Xenial CLI and desktop will probably be build in next round.
