  2. Give me a terminal command to run on my Mecool km8 and I will cut and paste the output here.
  3. I think I gave up on the internal WiFi being configured under Armbian S912 build 67 Ubuntu 18.04 and just plugged a series generic USB wifi dongles in until one was recognized. On my Mecool KM8 s912 Armbian 67 build Ethernet is working fine.
  4. Are you running HTOP system info? It should show you your s912 8 cores CPU loads. Normally when I run x265 Video using I think "mplayer" it is about 90% cpu on all 8 cores. Remember the first 4 cores are 1.5ghz and the second four are I think limited to 1GHz. Firefox in Armbian s912 is a memory hog. VLC does not work well in Armbian s912. You can ssh in to the s912 box and remotely run armbianmonitor -m to keep an eye on temperature. Without a fan my s912 Mecool gets to like 85 degree Celsius. But with a Fan it sits under 90% load playing a video at about 50 degrees Celsius. Its possible the laginess could be the s912 "HEAT THROTTLEing"
  5. Your Km8 Mecools may not be identical. I am not certain my three KM8 Mecools s912 1GB/ 8GB are the same. For a while I tried to boot from the internal 8gb flash. It appeared to me there were slight differences. In the end I just updated all three mecool KM8's internal flash to Android 7 and gave up trying to boot Armbian from the internal flash. Open your units up and have a look at the boards.
  6. I am away from my KM8 at the moment but i am having no problem with Armbian_5.67_Aml-s9xxx_Ubuntu_bionic_default_4.19.2_desktop_20181203 on 3 KM8 Mecools. It appears to have dissapeared. My internet is so slow I cannot send it too you.
  7. I am wondering if this problem you are having is a hardware problem? Can you boot the latest Corelec Kodi image for s912?
  8. Does anyone know if Armbian will include the new Allwinner H5 video Unit enhancements in Linus's Mainline Kernel 5.0 "AKA 4.21" that came out last week. If so what would the time line be to have the enhancements in Armbian Orange pi PC2?. Currently I believe the Orange Pi PC2 Armbian OS is at version 4.19 mainline kernel.
  9. I have the Mecool KM8 P s912. (3 of them) I am using the latest Armbian_5.67_Aml-s9xxx_Ubuntu_bionic_default_4.19.0-rc7_desktop_20181117 with i think from memory q201 .dtb . Are you aware this version of Armbian needs a .ini file to be edited? Instead of replacing the .dtb file like the older images?
  10. Did you get a reply on this? I am curious about updating armbian s912. I do not understand the difference between sudo apt-get update / upgrade and doing a .deb upgrade.

What happens if you run a stable (non nightly) version of Armbian Bionic?
  12. CNX has a story on cheap Mecool KM8p boards. https://www.cnx-software.com/2019/01/04/mecool-km8-p-octa-core-tv-box-promo/ I wrote in a comment on Armbian and Coreelec support. Seasalt I have three of these KM8p Mecool’s 1G ram 8gb storage.. I am really happy with them. I run this image of Corelec Kodi CoreELEC- S912.arm-8.95.7-S912.img.gz https://coreelec.org/ It works fantastically as a super powerful Kodi player with surround sound. (Wifi may not be detected so you may need a usb Wifi dongle.) The S912 Processor can decode 10bit 1080P X265 compressed files. The video decoding is excellent. I run this version of Ubuntu – Armbian by Balbes on my Mecool KM8p and it works fantastically. https://yadi.sk/d/pHxaRAs-tZiei/5.67/20181228 Here is the Balbes Armbian forum. https://forum.armbian.com/topic/7930-armbian-for-amlogic-s9xxx-kernel-41x-ver-555/?page=12&tab=comments#comment-68965 The current Balbes s912 Armbian is REALLY stable and working very well. My only regret is that my 3 units are only 1gb Ram as the S912 Octa-core processor is REALLY powerful and is only constrained by ram. If you are going to run the wonderful Balbes Armbian get the 2 GB ram KM8p model for $34.00. The Ubuntu S912 armbian version uses Zram and works really well. Also I have cut the case and mounted a small raspberry pi fan on top of the heatsink with just two cable ties to hold it on. Now I have no heating problems.
  13. I have a Mecool KM8 s912 1GB ram. I tried to copy to emmc but it did not work. I used Armbian config tool and the tool said it had written to the internal Mecool emmc successfully but when I rebooted it was as if the Mecoll had reformatted and reinstalled the old emmc partitions?
  14. These are the very latest kernel. Babes has bee very active lately getting his s9xx Armbian working on many boards. Why not do 500 mb download and try. I prefer the Ubuntu desktop version.
  15. I recommend the Ubuntu desktop from here https://yadi.sk/d/pHxaRAs-tZiei/5.67/20181218
  16. Ok I looked at picture. With Babes s905 / s912 Armbian images you need to use a .dtb file so it knows how to boot. My guess is you did not edit the .dtb file name. In the boot directory from memory is a ?????.ini file. Open it with a txt editor and cut out the name of the dtb that is there and cut and paste in the one you want the box to boot with. After finding a dtb file that works it will boot.
  17. why are you running such a old image? I run the latest Ubuntu Desktop from here. https://yadi.sk/d/pHxaRAs-tZiei/5.67/20181218
  18. Znoxx, What is your Armbian cluster? and what does it do? I have been seriously thinking about the FUN of building a cluster but I can not think of a use or purpose that ? PS have you bench-marked your Orange Pi PC2 and or cluster? Seasalt
  19. Fantastic. I am downloading it now and will install tomorrow. I am having trouble playing x265 on my M4 Bionic armbian. Seasalt

  21. What is the 5volt voltage at the USB port. (do not put a mulimeter probe in to a usb port.) Cut a old usb cable measure the ends.. If the USB voltage is less than say 5v maybe you need to tweak your power supply voltage upwards a bit. Be very careful.
  22. I am amazed My NanoPi M4 2gb plays Assaultcube and Torcs so well for a $85 computer it is a great achievement. But I have some questions. If I have more than 2 Bots/ enemies in Assaultcube 1024 X 768 graphics setting good, it seems to slow down game play, Is this because the bots are limited to a single CPU thread? and would therefore work better on larger Intel single or dual chips? Is any one else playing Assaultcube what settings are you finding optimize the RK3399? Seasalt.

The power supply you have is not even getting the board alone to a 5v usb voltage. Can you tweak a little trim pot on the power supply to get the voltage to say 5.15. Be very careful you do not blow anything up.
  24. Igor thanks for the long answer it makes many issues related to Video processing Hardware on Arm board clearer. But I still have some things I do not understand. Is it Arm or Rockchip who is not releasing the opensource video display driver information. Are they releasing a fully working ANDROID Video driver but not releasing a fully working Opensource Video driver for LINUX?
