  1. I have 2 question: - Has anybody an idea why I have input lags with all kind of ubuntu server images (bionic, disco, eoan) when I operate the system via SSH (Putty over Windows) while with Debian buster images everything goes fast and smooth with ssh? Means, when I edit a e.g. a config file and want to move down with the curser it need about 1 sec until I see curser movin in putty terminal. (with a keaboard directly on the box all images operate smooth without input lags) - Did anyone succesfully installed an image in X96 air tvbox in emmc? I am afraid to do and brick it because i read something about u-boot and amlogic 905X3 problems or so? Any info/help is appreciated btw: I use X96 air (4/64) and my box did boot directly from usb from the beginning on; no need for sd cards.
  2. I discovered the same problem: mmc1: error -84 whilst initialising SD card I also solved that issue via sd card + usb. My TV box is X96 air. I wonder why other users with that box could boot from sdcard completely and I had to go the way via sd + usb. Could there be any problem of installing it to emmc when using the combined boot method? Until now I am afraid to install it to emmc because I dont want to brick it... Regarding A5X max (4/32): mine did not boot with the new kernel 5 images no matter what dtb I used. I opened my box and on PCB there is written "MXQ-RK3328-D4_A VER_1.1 DATE: 20170909" The way booting up kernel 5 which srx described in some other post sounded too complex for me. So if anyone has a (adapted) dtb file for the kernel 5 images for the A5X max box I would be happy if someone shares it
  3. srx, how did you manage to run the 5.3 kernel image on A5X max? I tried it myself but non of the dtb worked for me. I even tried to adapt a dtb step by step to the old dtb in Kerner 4.4 images... Can you please share and detail more how you succeeded booting Kernel 5.3 image? Did you even tried the universal images for all platforms?
  4. I tried two images with the A5X Max (RK3328; 4GB Ram, 32GB Rom) to boot from sdcard: - Armbian_19.11.4_Arm-64_buster_current_5.4.1_desktop_20191228.img - Armbian_19.11.4_Arm-64_buster_dev_5.5.0-rc2_desktop_20191228.img Both are not working for me (monitor stays black, nothing happens) I used the dtb file which works for the old 4.4.154 kernel images and set it in extlinux.conf. I wrote the u-boot for RK3328 according balbes (with "dd"... command) Does anybody have an idea what could be the problem or succesfully used the new kernel 5 images on A5X Max? The "Armbian_19.11.3_Rk3328-tv_buster_legacy_4.4.154_desktop_20191126.img" works good
  5. I wanted to test rk3328 with kernel 5.5.0 on A5X Max, but the Link is not working. @balbes, when you correct the link I will test on my box.
  6. Did anyone try to boot from the sdcard and load the rootfs from an usb 3.0 stick? I tried to follow the idea of this article: https://www.google.de/amp/s/jamesachambers.com/raspberry-pi-4-usb-boot-config-guide-for-ssd-flash-drives/%3famp (Is it allowed to post the link?) I played a little with changing uuids but i dont really had success because I dont know in which file i have to change the uuid in armbian for tv boxes. If someone has a hint or solution I would be very happy and maybe it is a good solution for others too when the emmc can be left untouched. My hardware is A5X max.
  7. I was curious and did some comparison between the A5X Max and the Raspberry Pi 3B+. For the A5X I used the untouched dtb from mb16. Untouched hardware. My Raspi is in a Raspi Housing but no additional cooling. time $(i=0; while (( i < 9999999 )); do (( i ++ )); done) A5X Max @ mb16´s dtb: real: 3m30.129s Raspberry 3B+ real: 4m32m322s sysbench --test=cpu --num-threads=1 --cpu-max-prime=9999 run A5X Max @ mb16´s dtb: 11.3239s Raspberry 3B+ 119.5391s sysbench --test=cpu --num-threads=4 --cpu-max-prime=9999 run A5X Max @ mb16´s dtb: 2.9239s Raspberry 3B+ 34.1830s Interesting results. I did not expect the differences are such high. Next step: try to follow armars infos for BT.
  8. Now the A5X works with integrated wifi! First of all: thx @balbes150 @armar @mb16 !! - I use Armbian_5.68_Rk3328-tv_Debian_stretch_default_4.4.154_20190110.img.xz - download the dts file from mb16 post above. - compile it to dtb file (install device tree compiler to be able to do that: sudo apt-get install device-tree-compiler; you will probably need to use "-W no-unit_address_vs_reg" command with it to proceed) - copy the dtb file to your sd card where all other dtbs are and use it as startup - boot your box - lsmod will now show 8723bs - nmtui directly listed my wifi network; configure it for your needs - now with every startup you have wifi
  9. I am also a user of the A5X Max and it simply works out of the box (without wifi). Big thanks! Unfortunately I am not expert enough to help with finding how that on board wifi works, but my hope is in armar, who seems to be on the right way. Also thanks for that.
