  1. For your consideration please also take a look at point #6 https://docs.armbian.com/#what-is-supported Branding Armbian is a double-edged sword.. It creates visibility for the project but generates more needs from users by an order of mangitude more than it generates contributions to the project to help it scale and move forward. Point being, the more you contribute to the platform stability on the armbian side, rather than on the side of your images (aka freezing your own kernel builds etc) is more benefitial for armbian.

    Plex

despite me working hard and use don melton's transcoding scripts, i still struggled to convince my arm plex installs to only do direct play and direct stream. (this wasa . few months ago.. dunno what arch it was)
  3. FYI upstream status of @FlashBurn's patch https://github.com/MarvellEmbeddedProcessors/linux-marvell/pull/19#issuecomment-480570974
  4. I tend to write images by sshing into whatever ARM board is nearby and dont want to install a massive electron app when dd is right there.
  5. I guess there's some work to be done to change that perception.... or need to make it easier... Id like to think that the armbian build stuff makes things easier... i suppose some people just want to build on their local machine...... but we package the damn sources as a deb.. so like how hard is it?
  6. LOL.... I personally hate etcher with a passion, but yes it's the tool encourage use over dd for sure... Even I've accidentally nuked my drive on accident when dd-ing an armbian image.
  7. I came across this blog post which had a fantastic breakdown of the workflow for building a kernel with the armbian build tools. Just wanted to share.
  8. Those are awesome. Good idea ill add all the words on top with gimp
  9. Bleak. Gray scale. Sad pengiun sitting in darkness Then just like words scsttered around like "unsupported" "wip" "csc" "use at own risk" "NOT FOR PRODUCTION" "you're on your own" "unstable"
  10. @NicoD Would you be up for doing just one more...? A Wallpaper of shame for WIP/CSC boards to help people remember they're running something unsupported....
  11. So somehow I failed and missed your post until now... but ironically I did end up going with an RD65A! Thanks for the validation. Now I need to assemble my 3d printer so that I can print a terminal block cover for it
  12. I've got a v4 and a v5.. and i've often ran 800 cuz i just don't know what I'm supposed to run.... is there any reason i shouldnt use 1000,800... i barely understand the clocking stuff here..
  13. I'm spoiled in the states.. I had free next day delivery. That 2.5 mediasonic you found looks awesome
  14. So I'm doing something similar, but with 3.5" drives... I found a bay adapter that made a perfect cage.. you can probably find something similar for 2.5" https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KFX5RWZ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
  15. @gyrex Hey sorry to flip-flop on you, but I learned more about HFS+ on Linux and I don't think we should go against the policy of the upstream distributions. AKA its a dangerous default to enable for the inexperienced. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/HFS_Plus#Linux
  16. Ha im gonna need that soon myself. Which kernel? Would you be up for doing a PR On kernel the kernel config?
  17. Hey many sorry I had it written down to follow-up on this. I did render one hires..a few weeks ago. I'll try to get the images together and put a poll up soon-ish
  18. @esbeeb This subforum is about capturing ideas, not squashing them due feasibility, priority, or any other concerns about praticality. If you feel you have a good grasp on the projects needs, perhaps you could add to the Get Involved section of the documentation and send a PR.
  19. wow i'm struggling to figure out how to add it
  20. Well im a big fan of git submodules in general... it would be nice to be able to version the build and configs separately. Build scripts could pull latest submodule by default, but would def need an option flag to leave things alone when desired. Maybe even a param to specify a tag for config repo A repo per soc would make it super lean, by only initializing a submodule on demand..... but thats probably uneeded complexity 🙄
  21. All this H6 work made me cave an order an Opi 3
  22. I don't think it's crazy, but I don't think you have a good read on the current state of the project. Even the founder cannot work on the project full-time. It's probably a stretch to focus on course curriculum over technical debt. Since you seem to have a background in instruction, I'd be glad to spend some one on one time with you to help you understand the platform, if you'd be willing to capture, distill and contribute back to our documentation.
  23. Man..... i kinds wish gopher would make a come back for my terminal lifestyle dreams
