[Why armbian-release and uname -v don't match ??]

Have you rebooted yet?

 

Hypothesis:

The currently running kernel is 21.08.2, but the update has already changed the files.   
 

Run uname -a again after restarting.

These proc filesystem entries are another way to see what and how your currently running machine was booted:

cat /proc/cmdline

cat /proc/version

 

[LCD no longer works in Armbian 5.83 Pine64]

I did

apt update && apt upgrade

and then it would not boot at all,

no hdmi,

no RJ45 port network lights,

no capslock

Rock64v2

just the three leds light up: PWR, STBY, and the one next to power port.

 

Unfortunately, i do not remember what version it was on before because my wife unplugged it and put it in the box.
