  1. Dear Armbians I have a NanoPi Neo 3 board with 1GB of RAM running in a DC for quite a while now. Because of an SD card failure, I had to make a fresh setup with the actual Bookworm image. This image seems to be quite unstable. Device is going up and down all the time. I am unable to find the problem myself.   3. Hi Armbians :) Armbian's discontinued support of the NanoPi Neo3 board, hit me very hard. I have operated multiple of these SBCs with Armbian very stable, in different DCs for a long time. Because of the defunctional kernel under Armbian, I was forced to look around for alternatives and only came across Manjaro, DietPi and Friendlyarm published by FriendlyElec themself. Unfortunately I was not happy with Manjaro and Friendlyarm. Dietpi, on the other hand, seems to be doing quite well till now. And most importantly, it doesn't seem to have the kernel/ reboot problem that affected Armbian. But how can that be if it's based on Armbian? Can someone explain that to me?
  4. Dear Armbians I have an Odroid C4 in use in a DC with 100 MBits synchronous network connection. As I use it as dedicated networking device, bound to the internet over ethernet connection, I would like to disable the drivers for Wifi, HDMI and Bluetooth permanently. They are not necessary in my case. What would be the safest way to do this?
  5. Thats a good point. Tor requires 64bit for optimal encryption. So the Odroid X4U seems not that good for this. But what about the Odroid C4? I have never used a Amlogic S905X3 Quad-Core Cortex-A55 but the 2 GHz and 4GB RAM seem to make it a nice choise in my eyes…
  6. The Odroid C4 looks like a nice choise too. Maybe it could also be worth a closer look.
  7. I will update this old topic a little bit. The NanoPi Neo 3 still does it‘s job very well in the Datacenter. The original plastic case makes cooling a little bit difficult but the temp stays around 62-70*C. Very nice hardware for a Tor relay! So what about the Odroid X4U? Should be nice for this use case too, I think. Anything that speaks against it? Does anyone have experience in this regard?

I just wanted to add that, if someone is able to help me to fix this soon, I have the chance to test the maximum throughput this board can handle under a 1 Gigabit network connection, and so under real and counting test conditions! The connection speed is valid for the next 30 days till it falls back to 100 MBits standart. So we all would benefit from solving this issue soon
  9. Hi Armbians I have a problem with one of my NanoPi Neo 3 boards and dropped RX packages on eth0. From multiple Neo 3`s I have running, this is the only one having this issue. But its also the only one with 1GB of RAM. All other boards have 2GB of RAM. But this should not matter I think.   10. After having the NanoPi Neo 3 in use for some time, I can say the white case shipped by FriendlyElec is a little problematic seen from the site of cooling down the CPU. The colocation room has full AC with 15 *C room temp but under high load, the CPU temp goes up to 61-62 *C. I think something like this might be a better choise because the air flow is much higher: https://www.ebay.at/itm/333921941529 The producer of this case told me another case with the possibility to add a 40 cm fan gets addet soon. Might even be better!
  11. The NanoPi R1 is running in the DC for 17 days now. But with one port connected (GBit WAN port) its getting ~26 MBits traffic in both directions done. A little bit disappointing as i had high hopes to see another beast like the Neo 3 in it. I will try to connect the second port and split incomming/outgoing traffic between WAN/LAN port. Maybe this gives some better results. If not, i see no reason for this one to have twice the price of the Neo 3. We will see...
  12. Now, on day 10, after the node was started the Nanopi Neo3 reached a continous traffic of 80 Mbits. Its still doing fine and it is not overwhelmed at all! I think it could handle even more but i have some limits on the ISP site. Thanks a lot Werner for the tip. These devices are like made for this job . An update on, how the R1 will do, will follow.
  13. Yes, it seems I will have to But this will take some time till I am ready.. What I can say for sure about the NanoPi Neo3 so far, is, that it does a good job in the datacenter. Ramping up the traffic may not be complete after 7 days, but at this point, it handles 50 MBits traffic in both directions easy. CPU temp. is with a small fan and some aluminium heatsinks+ full AC in the colo room at 42 *C. System load: 8%
  14. I got my hands on a cheap and brand new NanoPi R1 with 1GB RAM now, that will arrive soon. Should be a good choise for handling high network throughput (50-100 MBits in both directions) as i found out. Any personal experiences on this board? Its hard to find direct user rewiews online for this one.

What about these here? - FriendlyELEC NanoPi A64 - 64bit A64 Quadcore 1GB Ram - Radxa D4_512MB_LANonly Rock Pi S 512 MB Ram They are a little low in RAM but could act as a nice middle- or guardnode. Or is there anything that speaks against high bandwith throughput with this boards? 40-50 MBits traffic passing would be a good value and cheaper HW will be hard to find.
