You are running the script on your desktop / server. It scans armbian boards on the network. If you set SUBNET, it will scan for devices on that subnet. I have dedicated subnet for testing armbian devices. I only hook power and network cable and they are ready for this script. I don't need to do nothing else.

If you only run a few devices in your only subnet, use HOSTS and type there IP addresses of devices you want to run tests on.

Put your phone BT to discoverable mode and run:
hcitool scan on a Linux computer that has BT dongle.

Welcome to try adding those hints.

But some day I will amend the power-HAT from @TonyMac32  cut out the middle part in KiCAD and see if I can get it manufactured in China. So this great board, with the gorgeous heat sink gets back to live :-D

I think they are a bit 'overkill' and quite expensive. See the answer below.  Means, unless you want to run at maximum all the time, a cheap heat sink should do the job.

I guess this is correct and IIRC with the idea in mind helping to spread the heat (increase the surface of the SoC) for short high load. With the idea to have sane settings to throttle the SoC and keep the temperature on a healthy level software wise.

So I read through this thread and there are a few thoughts that came up.

I believe when you want to solve a spam problem efficiently one needs to focus on the spam itself and not on the spammers.
I'm dealing with lots of spam on my mailservers and manually blacklisting is the least efficient way to solve this problem. In my case 2000 - 10000 Spam mails a month.
The main reasons why this is not a good practice are already described in a few posts inside this thread. Automated mail creation for example.

So what are the real problems with spam posts?
I think the most potential thread, if we focus on security, is that a user could get mislead to a dangerous URL.
There is also the problem that the Armbian Forum could get misrelated to porn pages or other ugly stuff through google searching or other online indexes.
Worst case would be if someone types porn stuff into the google search box and gets the Armbian forum as a result
or someone finds a post that should help him and this post is full off ads. This would harm the forums image.

So IMO the real problem is related to the URLs the spammers uses. So maybe there's a function like "URL registering"?
So if a user wants to add a URL which is not known by Armbian he needs to register it with a small form or so and a moderator needs to approve the URL.
Another concept could be that posts with unknown URLs needs to be approved even if they are changed after a while.
So the system needs to run the approval recognition not only on new posts but on each change to.

What's with the existing spam URLs?
I don't know if such functions exists but if we could run through all posts with URLs (maybe inside the database) and disapprove all posts with unknown URLs then we have a list we can score.
Moderators would need to approve all this posts again and register the URLs if they are valid. Maybe we should do this with a small amount of posts each.
So we would need a function like "disapprove the first 100 posts with unknown URLs". May be we could assign each moderator a few posts automatically so he can approve 10 posts a week or so.
11 Moderators would solve 110 posts a week. I don't know how big the problem is but the year has 52 weeks so we could to a lot of work without really doing anything.

I'm absolutely new to this forum so maybe this is all nonsense but hiring volunteering spamfilters does not seem to be the smart way.

to our luck this is not a forum only for moderators right? @Igor/ @lanefu if my style of moderating stuff is no longer valuable you can happily revoke my moderator rights then.. I'll spend my time on github and PM depending on motivation.. A forum needs to work for its users not only for the moderators. After all we as moderators do only a bit of housekeeping to keep the rest going.

I favor the less active moderating style where you only take actions when things run out of control, either due to people insulting each other or it gets bloated by useless crap not related to the topic at all.. as long as things go more and less smooth I don't see a reason to either cut peoples rights or giving them 'official' warnings.. Others might have a different moderation style and that's also fine.. Different people will have different approaches how to solve things. Not everyone has to solve it the exact same way as I do but being able to edit posts is a feature people use and there are reasons to have it. and if 12 out of the 8204 users abuse it we're talking about less than 0.15% 'bad citizens'.. IMO a percentage we can and must accept. I'm confident that a higher percentage will use the same feature in a sane way..

Obviously if I see spammers I flag them, game over.. next one will come, next one will be banned as soon as it gets spotted.. Ofc this won't keep the forum a 100% clean from spam, but I can life without a 100% clean forum.

Tido reacted to Werner in Rename Supporter to Donator
Since - in my eyes - at least - there is a likelihood of confusion regarding the "Supporter" tag of members that actually (recurring) donating to the project. People could think "Supporter" means staff member that actually support people with their issues. The real staff rank, Moderator and Administrator to say, is "hidden" in their individual profiles. Since I like the idea of flat hierarchy I do not suggest to make the actual staff visible in forum postings but simply rename the Supporter to something like "Donator" to make it clear that these people donated to the project but are not necessarly involved into it.

I often edit my posts... maybe for correcting a word, entry or a new command or link
    and this sometimes days later.

I also got sometimes problems, that not all editing options are available when editing a post against the editing options while creating a new post.

In a other forum the where the timed editing option is enabled there is much "thread-overhead" because some people have to add something to the thread because they cant edit it anymore.....
They dont got spammers (I dont see there any) - maybe they check in a other way?

    In conclusion:
    - you allowed someone to attack you - You allowed that - You could have simply ignore the post
    - by allowing this offense and reacting on it, you spent energy and minutes if not hours  of your valuable time !
    - you can close a negative webbrowser tab, take a deep breath and count to ten. Stand up, stretch take a deep breath and do what you like . But use your time wisely, it won't come back. These minutes/hours are gone

Now create a .txt file on your desktop. Copy these lines in it and next time you feel attacked, re-read it  or paste it in the forum instead for others before you close the tab.

@TonyMac32 @Tido I've gone through all the demo code and everything is working with the updated libraries. non-root access works with everything except PWM which has been a bear to figure out. Also added system LED library which includes triggers. I still need to work on some demos for LED triggers.

OK, now that you described your network topology in more detail it is obvious what is going on.
Your router does not connect the WiFi and Ethernet segment in bridged mode but handles them as two separate segments where routing takes place and firewall rules get applied. Ports for service discovery (mdns) and LPR (printer) seem to be enabled already but for ipp-everywere or aiprint (ipp) are not.
With all properly setup and cups-browsed from the cups-filters package running there should be no user intervention be required to add the printer. cups-browsed will discover it, setup a suitable queue and in applications it will show up as printer to use.

I described my connection poorly; I'm actually not using the wifi on the OPi. It has an ethernet connection to my router, and the router connects to the printer over wifi. So as far as the OPi is concerned, it's an ethernet connection.

Anyhoo! Yes, printing over USB works . I can't readily connect the OPi directly to the printer via ethernet, since OPi's ethernet is how it connects to the local network. But I did try connecting the printer to the router on ethernet (rather than wifi), and it works . And then when I took the printer off ethernet and back on wifi, leaving CUPS with the same configuration, it continues to work ! Only thing I can see that might be different is that, when connected on ethernet, I had CUPS use LPD instead of DNSSD. Don't remember if I had tried that previously. Even at that, I still had to manually edit /etc/cups/printers.conf to to put the printer's static IP in the device URI, in place of the "friendly" name that CUPS had selected. So this whole thing is probably 100% user error/inexperience. Thank you @Tido @usual user @martinayotte so much for your help and your patience with me!

    Essentials of Hardware and Software
I decided to reduce complexity and to follow a plan. To do so I must leave aside as much as I can.

Before the network starts, the switch driver must be loaded and the connections defined.
OpenWrt first executed a 'reset' and then loaded the configuration.
find a way to easily reset (flush) previous settings for a clean start activate eth0 Create two (2) VLANs:
allocate to each port of the switch a VLAN-ID  (LAN 102 | WAN 101) allocate /define the connection to the SoC (A20) I do not care about WiFi yet, because this is attached via USB and not connected to the BCM53125 switch.

    The beast

    previous OpenWrt switch configuration:
    ifconfig eth0 up swconfig dev eth0 set reset 1 swconfig dev eth0 set enable_vlan 1 swconfig dev eth0 vlan 101 set ports '3 8t' swconfig dev eth0 vlan 102 set ports '4 0 1 2 8t' swconfig dev eth0 set apply 1
Once the above works and all ports are 'up', next steps:
interfaces configuration file DHCP-Server configuration file hostapd configuration file RealTek WiFi driver Security = IPtables settings So, this is my plan and if it happend, that you are an owner of an R1 and you have a spare mSDcard.. I would appreciate you join the journey.
I use this Debian image with current updates.
