  1. your welcome. Just for info, In this forum thread, in earler post, someone already mentioned, he have been bricked because u-boot odroid c2 deb package update. for my case, because mali fbdev odroid c2 deb package update.
  2. Last month, I have been Un Brick my TV Box, after i apply the sofware update notification, it make the TV Box only show Blank Black.... and its make me panic.... I never do Sofware Update anymore, and disable or cancel it when the notification is showed. for now, if the current system or software doesn't have problem, i will not update it.
  3. Thanks for the info. I have tried mpv with vo=x11 in my current ubuntu mate, i can scale and full screen, but its make video playback slower, but with default window it smooth just like VLC. What about c2play, can you make it work with your Armbian ?
  4. what the difference betwen "Armbian_5.24_Vegas95_Ubuntu_xenial_3.14.79_desktop_20161103.img.xz" and "Armbian_5.24_Amlogic-s905x_Ubuntu_xenial_3.14.29_desktop_20161103.img.xz" i have Mini M8S with S905, which one i should download? Edit: Nevermind, i download Armbian_5.24_Amlogic-s905x_Ubuntu_xenial_3.14.29_desktop_20161103.img.xz , because i want to know the smoothness of Video playback you mentioned in post number #251 above
  5. Hmm.... The one without desktop, so the image with name Armbian_5.21_Amlogic-s905x_Ubuntu_xenial_3.14.29_20161026.img.xz ? Oke, i will download again.
  6. which images ? Armbian Debian Jessie Desktop (Armbian_5.24_Amlogic-s905x_Debian_jessie_3.14.29_desktop_20161030.img.xz)? or Armbian Debian Jessie without Desktop ( Armbian_5.24_Amlogic-s905x_Debian_jessie_3.14.29_20161030.img.xz ) ? so i can just using zImage and it will boot... i ask this, because when i compile the kernel, and make install, i will get vmlinuz and uInitrd , you can see my files here http://www.mediafire.com/file/8bhstr16l8cynwd/Odroid+C2+Ubuntu+Mate+Kernel+-+3.14.79.tar.xz , i compressed all files needed in the BOOT Partition and ROOTFS Partition. Thanks again, I'am still in the middle downloading Armbian_5.24_Amlogic-s905x_Debian_jessie_3.14.29_desktop_20161030.img.xz
  7. Thanks a lot... hmm, why in boot folder only have zImage? afaik, to boot the system need s905_autoscript, Image (vmlinuz) and uInitrd. where i can find the BOOT Partition files ? like s905_autoscript, vmlinuz (Image) and uInitrd ?
  8. That's nice... i try c2play with the latest Odroid Ubuntu Mate, i could compile but it not run. Please could you share your build? so i could try c2play, i want to know, how good this media player. You could share an image from your sdcard. or Full Backup from BOOT Partition and ROOTFS Partition is much better (much smaller size), please see this http://www.aboutdebian.com/tar-backup.htm And upload it to Mediafire. Thanks before.
  9. thanks... sound card is detected and vpu too... but no gpu.... and i dont see mali fbdev in boot log...
  10. Thanks for the info. Fyi, If you want to compile wifi driver, you can get it from kernel source libreelec ( linux-bca261f.tar.gz )
  11. Do you have Mini M8S with S905 ( not S905x ) ? If you have it, i want to ask about sound card and wifi, it work or not?
  12. Thanks for the reply, please upload kernel headers because i have previous Armbian, i will try to make it work. i have knowledge to Un Brick my Mini M8S, so i will take the risk.
  13. Thanks, i will compile it under my Mini M8S with Armbian_5.21_Amlogic-s905x_Debian_jessie_3.14.29_desktop_20161017.img.xz i hope i can download it from Yadi.sk , my internet connection is not so good to download from Yadi.sk
  14. hmm, i will wait and see.... if its close to LE , i hope there will be support for Kodi... afaik, kernel source from github will change every time, thats why i ask about kernel source. can you give the hint, which commit is you using for the Armbian_5.21_Amlogic-s905x_Debian_jessie_3.14.29_desktop_20161016.img
  15. Have you include Mini M8S S905 Support , like Soundcard and Wifi driver in the kernel. Fyi, Mini M8S using Soundcard AML M8 and Realtek RTL8723BS. if not, what about kernel source, do you include it so i can re compile it for AML M8 Soundcard and Realtek RTL8723BS module driver. Did it support a Modified Kodi with HW Acceleration from here http://forum.odroid.com/viewtopic.php?t=19433 Thanks.
  16. Hi tcp010, i have solve the problem, and now i can make Realtek RTL8723BS and Soundcard in Mini M8S to work. Now My Mini M8S have Wifi, Bluetooth, Sound and X11 Accelerated Mali OpenGL I can play Movie with VLC using X11 Video Output (XCB) its very smooth. I use Firefox 32bit, and its stable. Btw, i use Odroid Ubuntu Mate from Koxx release with custom kernel. I'am very happy.... FYI, after i looking OpenELEC dmesg, lsmod, then you must recompile the whole kernel to make the Wifi and Bluetooth (i'am not test the bluetooth) if you just compile module driver, you cannot turn on the wifi, its need sdio. so i compile using linux amlogic source code from Koxx, its 3.14.29 , then copy amlogic wifi folder from OpenELEC kernel source to linux amlogic source code, and edit Makefile, Kconfig to just enable RTL8723BS. and enable sdio in amlogic wifi section. here the dmesg log: [ 6.673892] RTL871X: module init start [ 6.673896] RTL871X: rtl8723bs v4.3.16_13854.20150410_BTCOEX20150119-5844 [ 6.673897] RTL871X: rtl8723bs BT-Coex version = BTCOEX20150119-5844 [ 6.673899] ######platform_wifi_power_on: [ 6.673903] ------------[ cut here ]------------ [ 6.673919] WARNING: CPU: 3 PID: 192 at drivers/gpio/gpiolib.c:207 gpio_ensure_requested+0x84/0x100() [ 6.673920] autorequest GPIO-234 [ 6.673929] Modules linked in: 8723bs(+) cfg80211 ipv6 autofs4 [ 6.673934] CPU: 3 PID: 192 Comm: systemd-modules Not tainted 3.14.29+ #28 [ 6.673937] Call trace: [ 6.673945] [<ffffffc001088b64>] dump_backtrace+0x0/0x138 [ 6.673948] [<ffffffc001088cbc>] show_stack+0x20/0x30 [ 6.673955] [<ffffffc0017c363c>] dump_stack+0x7c/0xc0 [ 6.673960] [<ffffffc0010ad2dc>] warn_slowpath_common+0x94/0xc0 [ 6.673963] [<ffffffc0010ad37c>] warn_slowpath_fmt+0x74/0x88 [ 6.673967] [<ffffffc001387d1c>] gpio_ensure_requested+0x80/0x100 [ 6.673970] [<ffffffc00138976c>] gpiod_direction_output+0x70/0x314 [ 6.673975] [<ffffffc00163eb4c>] set_wifi_power+0x28/0x38 [ 6.673978] [<ffffffc00163eca8>] extern_wifi_set_enable+0x114/0x1ac [ 6.674069] [<ffffffbffc1f7820>] $x+0x28/0x54 [8723bs] [ 6.674133] [<ffffffbffc29904c>] $x+0x4c/0x104 [8723bs] [ 6.674136] [<ffffffc0010816a8>] do_one_initcall+0xd4/0x138 [ 6.674142] [<ffffffc00112527c>] load_module+0x14b0/0x1e04 [ 6.674144] [<ffffffc001125d48>] SyS_finit_module+0x80/0x90 [ 6.674146] ---[ end trace 415d4918197c627e ]--- [ 6.674171] [extern_wifi_set_enable] WIFI Disable! 234 [ 6.860922] systemd-journald[198]: Received request to flush runtime journal from PID 1 [ 7.178833] [extern_wifi_set_enable] WIFI Enable! 234 [ 7.223138] hdmitx: system: [edid_tx_segaddr] err = -6 [ 7.223141] hdmitx: system: [gpio_read_edid] setptr = 0 [ 7.339729] BT_RADIO going: on [ 7.344490] BCM_BT: going ON [ 7.360050] hdmitx: system: [edid_tx_segaddr] err = -6 [ 7.366971] hdmitx: system: [gpio_read_edid] setptr = 0 [ 7.530649] cfg80211: World regulatory domain updated: [ 7.537283] cfg80211: DFS Master region: unset [ 7.539078] cfg80211: (start_freq - end_freq @ bandwidth), (max_antenna_gain, max_eirp) [ 7.555848] cfg80211: (2402000 KHz - 2472000 KHz @ 40000 KHz), (N/A, 2000 mBm) [ 7.563681] cfg80211: (2457000 KHz - 2482000 KHz @ 40000 KHz), (N/A, 2000 mBm) [ 7.571708] cfg80211: (2474000 KHz - 2494000 KHz @ 20000 KHz), (N/A, 2000 mBm) [ 7.579685] cfg80211: (5170000 KHz - 5250000 KHz @ 80000 KHz), (N/A, 2000 mBm) [ 7.592774] 00ffffffffffff004c2dc007000000002e140103804627780aee91a3544c9926 0f5054bdef80714f8100814081809500950fb300a940023a801871382d40582c 4500a05a0000001e662150b051001b3040703600a05a0000001e000000fd0018 4b1a5117000a202020202020000000fc0053414d53554e470a2020202020017c [ 7.594689] cfg80211: (5250000 KHz - 5330000 KHz @ 80000 KHz), (N/A, 2000 mBm) [ 7.594692] cfg80211: (5490000 KHz - 5730000 KHz @ 160000 KHz), (N/A, 2000 mBm) [ 7.594694] cfg80211: (5735000 KHz - 5835000 KHz @ 80000 KHz), (N/A, 2000 mBm) [ 7.594696] cfg80211: (57240000 KHz - 63720000 KHz @ 2160000 KHz), (N/A, 0 mBm) [ 7.782403] sdio: new high speed SDIO card at address 0001 [ 7.782592] sdio: clock 50000000, 4-bit-bus-width [ 7.782592] [sdio_reinit] finish [ 7.782848] RTL871X: register rtw_netdev_ops to netdev_ops [ 7.782854] RTL871X: rtw_wdev_alloc(padapter=ffffff80015ea000) [ 7.782894] RTL871X: Register RTW cfg80211 vendor cmd(0x67) interface [ 7.783358] RTL871X: rtw_hal_config_rftype RF_Type is 3 TotalTxPath is 1 [ 7.783365] RTL871X: Chip Version Info: CHIP_8723B_Normal_Chip_TSMC_F_CUT_1T1R_RomVer(0) [ 7.783451] RTL871X: EEPROM type is E-FUSE [ 7.785718] RTL871X: SetHwReg8723B: bMacPwrCtrlOn=1 [ 7.786044] RTL871X: PowerOnCheck: val_mix:0x0000063f, res:0x0000063f [ 7.786046] RTL871X: PowerOnCheck: 0x100 the result of cmd52 and cmd53 is the same.   17. Thanks for the reply, i will wait good news from you. mean time, i will try to make it working.
  18. Hi tcp010.... I have Mini M8S, and i have a question about RTL8723BS Module driver for the Wifi in Mini M8S.... I have build the driver, but i cannot make the Wifi to work.... if can make the Wifi to work, please share the "how to" about it. Thanks....
  19. For your question in here http://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/1143-armbian-for-amlogic-s905/page-5#entry16844 Sory for the late reply.... until now , i still try to make the wifi to work... i can build the driver, and load it with insmod. but, after i check the dmesg , i only got the Bluetooth. RTL8723BS is a single chip with Wifi and Bluetooth. right now i still try to solve.... after i read it http://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/1180-orange-pi-lite-now-available/page-2 he use RTL8192 , looks like i need to check DTS.... but i doesn't have the knowledge about it.... still try to learn it.... Now.... for your question above... You can Install the driver, with command run make install in the folder /home/kuszi/Downloads/wifi/rtl8189ES/ , and then for AutoLoad the Driver, you can edit /etc/modules and put 8189es in there. or, you can put the command in /etc/rc.local before exit 0 # Install module driver insmod /home/kuszi/Downloads/wifi/rtl8189ES/8189es.ko # conect to wifi chclient wlan0 I'am glad you can solved your problem.
  20. Hi Robert, I cannot compile, the driver from here http://openlinux.amlogic.com:8000/download/ARM/wifi/, if i look to Makefile, its for Android. You can try using Module Driver from LibreELEC 7.0.2.007 If you read the kernel config in here https://github.com/kszaq/LibreELEC.tv/blob/libreelec-7.0/projects/S905/linux/linux.aarch64.conf LibreELEC have merge module driver for 8189ES. # # Amlogic Wifi Driver # CONFIG_AM_WIFI=y # CONFIG_BCMDHD_USE_STATIC_BUF is not set CONFIG_AM_WIFI_DUMMY=m CONFIG_RTL8189ES=m CONFIG_RTL8189FS=m CONFIG_RTL8192EU=m CONFIG_RTL8723AU=m CONFIG_RTL8723BS=m CONFIG_RTL8821AU=m CONFIG_RTL8812AU=m You try to Boot LibreELEC with SDCard to see if it working with your TV Box. Here the download link 7.0.2.007 build for S905 | LibreELEC If its work, you can get from LibreELEC kernel in here https://github.com/kszaq/linux/tree/amlogic-3.14.y, you need to download it, and the driver will be in folder drivers/amlogic/wifi/. Right now, i'am trying too... but still on the way.... Btw, try to read Koxx post in here http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player-support/amlogic-based-tv-players/s905/beelink-ac/562425-lubuntu-possible-on-s905/page3 The way he try to compile module driver for wifi and soundcard is awesome...
  21. Hmm, it's a mix , please go here http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player-support/amlogic-based-tv-players/s905/beelink-ac/568654-minimx-s905-ubuntu-16-04-64bits-with-kodi-and-x-on-sdcard/page9 and read my post in there. for all the file in partition ROOTFS , except /lib/modules/ i use minimx_ubuntu from Koxx, because it's have stable Firefox and smooth Mate Destop. and for BOOT partition i use ubuntu multi dtb from balbes150, i need s905 script and dtb file. for kernel, its the same as from ubuntu mate from odroid, and its still in the ubuntu multi dtb from balbes150 sory for my bad english, its hard to explain, please go to http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player-support/amlogic-based-tv-players/s905/beelink-ac/568654-minimx-s905-ubuntu-16-04-64bits-with-kodi-and-x-on-sdcard/page9 and read my post in there.
  22. i don't use Armbian anymore, i have switch to Ubuntu Mate modified by Balbes and Koxx (based from Odroid C2 Ubuntu Mate) afaik, to compile the driver, you need Kernel header and Kernel Source please read this http://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/873-solved-compiling-drivers-error-no-header-files-found/ ps: i got my wifi driver from there too, this one http://openlinux.amlogic.com:8000/download/ARM/wifi/rtk8723bs-2016-08-18-090ef42dfa.tar.gzfor my rtl8723bs wifi card.
