  1. I program few things with Raspberry and Orange PI or Banana. I use Visual Studio Code available on Mac Windows & Linux because this IDE is free, open source, available on different OS and it is fast and clever. Apps are in python, I use GPIO I2C... I do not use the language to program nice UI because it is for my pleasure, not for customers (I am IT engineer). I discovered python recently, just to learn new things and I liked it immediately. I do not program with c++ since ages and I do not want to use it anymore, no pleasure at all.
  2. Please, znoox me. I read plenty of pages in your website today. Interesting. Thank you.
  3. Thanks for the information. Poor hamster... I cannot read your website, it is in Russian no? I am in China and google is not working and VPN not working correctly for the moment = no translation... I will read it later.
  4. Thanks, I will have a look when back at home. I read in your documentation that realtek dongle are supported, but not for the OPz. Because the poor onboard wifi adapter in the case of Opz, it could be cool to have a realtek wifi dongle support, don't you think so ? Oh I see you also propose images! Nice job!
  5. I bought one Banana and one Orange 18 months ago and the both were unusable with their distros for my needs. Then I discovered Armbian last December and now it is working. Plenty of information here, but when you are a beginner it is difficult to understand immediately and you have to find the line between your own research and experiment and the easy way to ask on the forum. Cant't donate right now, I have only 300€ of salary each month in China and it is very difficult for me. I hope one day it will be more easier for me and I will be able to donate.
  6. Wha! So impressive! Gonna try it immediately (err, after 4 hours of download if everything is ok). Thank you. Four hours later: it is working. Crazy!
  7. Well, I am so sorry to ask this stupid question, but is there any technical interest to do this, I mean there is plenty of old routers with 4 RJ45 connectors and all we need for few bucks, so why to go this hard way to have an Open WRT router ? Please, this is not an agressive question, I just want to understand WHY you do this!
  8. Could you use armbianmonitor -m to see if the card is throttling ?
  9. You can get a file from here : https://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/3454-orange-pi-zero-dimensional-mechanical-drawing/?hl=%26quot%3B+cad%26quot%3B#entry24955 In the file there is x100 error in dimensions, but it is a good base for the beginning.
  10. Do you want to know the dimensions to create box for 3D printers? If yes, there is already something in thingiverse I've already printed, working fine : 1 - http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1986658 2 - http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1918590 You can get the files and open them with freecad for example, so there you can grab the measurements.
  11. Ok, so go to the website indicated and you have a tool to measure. I've tried it and the measure indicated are ok (I only use a ruler for the moment waiting for the electronic caliper in few days). If I do something on the CAD files, I will not use Autocad but freeware instead.
  12. Dear tkaiser, Thanks a lot for your information. I use only FLAC, mostly in 16 bits 44KHz. I do not pretend anything more that what I've seen at home. If wifi is very important for some people, why not use a wifi / usb dongle? Another point. Few weeks ago I started to read the forum. I think there are here some very high skilled technologist on the forum, the kind of people that do not like too much repeat and repeat and repeat the same answers. And my feeling is now, because of the OPZ growing success (and armbian best system for the card), more and more people are arriving in the forum. Then you will face to more and more questions, maybe already answered. And because you are IT guys and not specialist in pedagogy, OPZ wil be the beginning of a kind of new experience for you.
  13. Hello, I do not exactly understand your question: you have the Autocad files, you just have to use the dwg, no ? If you do not have autocad, you can even go on their website and see the files online, and you have a tool to measure (seems there is a factor 1000 error on the scale, but not a real problem). https://a360.autodesk.com/viewer/#
  14. Alexander, you are talking about Real Life test. So let's talk about my experience. I've installed Logitech Media Server and Squeezelite on the little OPZ, using RJ45. The OPZ get the music files across the LAN on a NAS. Because of very bad reputation, I did not even try the wifi. Following your question I've just tested the wifi IRL. So right now I am using Wifi only on the OPZ. The OPZ is running Debian Jessie with fresh upgrade: - playing the music (server and player in the same time), - with SSH showing armbianmonitor - web browser on my PC pointing to the http LMS address allowing me to pause, stop, play, change volume... - during an LMS indexing new music There is no numbers here, just doing many things in the same time IRL and it seems to work. Edit: some figures... Home lan is 100Mb on RJ45 and LMS indexation with OPZ with RJ45 is around 5 minutes. It took near 15 minutes with the WIFI. The server has finished scanning your media library. Total Time: 00:14:57 (Monday 6 February 2017 / 19:13)
  15. I have done some things with the 3D printer and planned to design a box for the OPZ. Before to do this, I tried a search on thingiverse and found some boxes! So right now I am printing... Err, no in fact my wife is printing, she is the 3D printer boss... On the top we have a thingiverse OPZ box https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1986658 On the left this is a box for 16x2 LCD http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:614241 On the right this is box for OPZ + PCM2704 DAC
  16. Thank you... I just explain one more time, our school is inside the campus university in China. I do not manage internet access, I do not have access to the box, I know what is a VPN and use at least 3 different VPN near every day. I know what is xrdp. The advantage of TW is this app use port 80 and 443 so it is not blocked, and also there is an intermediate computer that can connect the TW server and the TW client. The app allows me to gain access to my lan in the school using one computer at home. I've tried TW on a Raspberry in december but found the beta for arm is not usable for the moment. If it is possible to link TW to a mail address, so it will change the game. If there is an alternative, I am ok to test, but I repeat : no access to the box, DDNS is impossible in China, etc... At home I can do what I want with my equipment (DD-WRT on my router, VPN inside my router bla-bla-bla) but in the foreign school inside the Chinese university, I cannot do what I want. Rodolpho, I've read your thread previously about fun with Armbian, thank you, I will have a look later, Chinese new year for the moment, holidays and wife asking why I spend so much time with the computer during holidays. Thanks friends for trying to help me.
  17. Rodolpho, in China DDNS is impossible. As Google, Gmail, gmap etc... Have you ever heard about the great numeric wall?
  18. I am working in a school inside an university in China. TeamViewer allows me to contact a computer on my school to manage my business, from home. We depend on internet access of the university. I do not know how to enter in my school LAN across the university LAN from internet without TeamViewer. DDND is forbidden in the country. I cannot use a fix IP address because I do not manage the internet in the university and it is not authorized. If you have a better solution just explain please.
  19. I2C is working on pi zero. At the airport right now but tonight or tomorrow I can give you information if you want. I use it to manage an LCD I2C 16*2.
  20. Very soon? Not sure, this is the new year here in China and China is paralyzed until February 3...
  21. Well, no sure it will help but... I tried Teamviewer on a Rasp but the soft is in beta and... It is clearly unusable for "production". For the moment, because you cannot link TeamViewer to an email adress (in the arm version), you have to use the code generated each time you run the app. You know the code when launch the graphic interface and then run TeamViewer: the code is shown by the app. It's crazy because TeamViewer is supposed to give you control over internet, so first please go your SBC, plug a screen and a mouse and in the graphic interface run the app, note the code. Then go back home and pray for the app do not crash. And please do not run again the application because there is no control, you can run ten time the same app and you cannot know which one is the last one and what is the good code. So, yes, you can run the app but it is, for the moment, unusable.
  22. Hello evreyone, Once month ago, for the Christmas holidays, I was back in France. A friend of mine ask me some information about a little amp to drive a speaker – PM8403 was the answer – from a little SBC. He showed me his project and I discovered by this time the Orange Pi Zero. Since many years I am using Logitech Media Server to listen to music. I started with a server computer as everybody, then went to the Raspberry few years ago. In another life I realized some projects with Arduino, and dreamed to write something to get an LCD showing me the artist name and song etc... with a SBC. I live in China and here there is no way to have a Raspberry Zero at European cost ( here it’s around 20$, when a v3 is around 27$). Because of what my friend showed me, one month ago, back in China January 3 I bought 2 OPZ. It took 3 days to come from Shenzen, it was the 512MB Ram version with the SPI on the board. During the holidays I started to learned python (the basis)... My friend told me to use Armbian, I discovered the website, the forum, the distro. I’ve learned so much in only one month. I’ve managed to install LMS and squeezelite - audio server and client - and it is so easy (I was afraid of that before), I wrote in Python the application I wanted to use for the I2C LCD, I used the GPIO for this project, and discovered plenty of other things. So I would like to thank you very much for your website, for Armbian and for your huge job. I have plenty of questions, of course, but I try to find my myself before to ask, the hard way… And sorry for my poor English. Congratulations and thank you again.
