  1. Where is the "Getting started guide"? I think it should pinned at the top the page.
  2. Go find the getting start guide and read it then come back. You need tell us you know what's what. H5 is a wip
  3. My 1 st Micro computer as it was called then, took up the backseat of a 1966 Olds 442, it was a Altair 8800 kit a picked up at a yard sale in northwest Texas in 1977, I think. I taught myself tiny basic on this. "writing" (really just copy code from magazines) text games.
  4. OK so now that others see that zero wi-fi is not as crappy as others have stated. I have wireless streamed / transferred 67 gig across a zero this month and did not see any real issues. Now can we get it enabled for all the users?? NOT having it enabled really does not make much sense, if the powers to be do not wish to "support" then don't. They could move those post to Peer support. Some of us are only looking at IoT projects, moving txt / csv / xml files, and so on. I did a little project a few weeks back, call it a proof of concept, I was sent 10 zero's / sd cards and power supplies purchased as a package deal. I setup the zeros as asked and they went out to service, the Monkey tech installing the zero's had issues with a cisco catalyst ??, and another cisco switch??. The "tech" (firedog / geeksquad / Gurus to go) did not know what model switches.... He said one zero would not connect (wired), said he had to plug one into the switch with 12 " cable, going thru the punch down block did not work, another he had to use a cheap switch between the zero and cisco. I am told those 2 zeros have heavy packet loss over the wired connection and drop off the network once or twice a day. Now just to be clear I did not recommend the Zero, I said he should use the PC Plus. P.S. Because I got paid for this project I donated a small part (about 10%) to Igor..as I used Armbian build for the zeros. Hint... Hint... If everyone did this Igor and ??? could have a weekend long drunk on us.
  5. Forum does look "cleaner".. There will always be those who join and post without searching / reading, people...in general... are a lazy bunch, and those with a little tech knowledge, think …. Hey we are “special” and any tech issue we are having can not be anything WE are doing / not doing wrong, so it must be the software / hardware.. Right, I mean come on I got X number of years this so I must be right. You must FORCE us provide the info. needed to help us, get us to READ the docs and How to’s. The more effort you make us put into solving our own problems... the more we learn. Because I used cheap SD cards for weeks without issue, once a issue came up, I dismissed the SD as the possible problem because it had never been an issue before, and I JUST KNEW it could not be...well you know what happened….wasted hours of time...time I do not have much of… By not listening to the folks here.. who know what’s what’s….I broke one of my basic rules…. “You must learn from other people’s mistakes. You can’t possibly live long enough to make them all yourself.” Sam Levenson
  6. What image are you using ? Did you stop network manager? What is your end game??? the easy way to use the zero as a AP / AD hoc node is via this image http://pulpstone.pw/
  7. We someone clicks on the Experimental / Mainline download link it should take them to page which the warning is in BIG RED fonts, with an agree button to click before the download starts.
  8. The "thread" is a perfect example of the Dunning–Kruger effect...
  9. The Armbian on the OPi's is "Plug and Play" as much as "leading edge" can be. I am no "expert" in anything, I have no special talents but I am passionately curious. I have never heard of U-boot util a few months back, I have never had any issues with any of the builds I was not the cause of. I have setup 12 Zero's, a Zero plus h3 and the PC Plus, and played with a OP Prime board. Never a problem which was not known to me before hand (I read alot). This 1 sd card out of over 20 failing on a few boards means that this whole mess is a waste of time, the cheap DEV boards will have issues that is life. Buying CHEAP sd cards / PSU (Yes TK I know.. Moron for doing so..I can own that) will always cost you more in the long run. But all in all this whole Armbian thing is easy as PI.... ;~) It just works 99% of the time (when you follow the guides and listen to those who know). OH I have 10 Rpi's they have their set of issues.... The boards are sold for development= the process of developing or being developed.
  10. Ok I will add more noise. I spent some time looking at the "failed" build I reported. Turns out I have a SD card which "works fine" but will fail in the PC Plus and 2 out 6 zeros. BUT only those. And yes I swapped everything around and retested, and no I did not make videos.
  11. blaster_56 I do not which ver of the Zeros I have one is old, but I do not know about the others, they are in use. I will check later today
  12. I can confirm that the build pointed to above does not have working ethernet. just tested it, No Joy.... Edit: Just ran the build for 5.31 networking works fine.
  13. I can confirm that the build pointed to above does not have working ethernet. just tested it, No Joy....
  14. I also do not get why the vendor would make a board like the zero h5, I got the h3 ..use it as a desktop..never...to slow and the H5 would not be any better. The Zeros I got I am happy with (crappy wifi and all). The end users will always push for the cheap way, you must SHOW them why it is better to purchase A over B, as TK has said over and over the end users can not have much say in what boards you support if they did then all there would be is crappy, unusable boards with great sofware. "A wise man can learn more from a foolish question than a fool can learn from a wise answer." "A goal is not always meant to be reached, it often serves simply as something to aim at." Bruce Lee

  16. The way to change vendor behavior is thru $, if there is no usable OS for the board a few people will buy a crap board but they will not push others to buy it. Now if the powers here select a board, build the OS and value added apps / options which the public wants then the public will purchase the board. ...Like the AP mode on the Zero..it makes no sense to me but by the posting here and orange.org it is a thing MANY want...so if Armbian offer a working solution for the AP mode those users would be happy..well util they used it and found the flaws. In customer service telling someone they can not have something is worst than giving them something they WANT but is flawed in someway. Yes there will be mistakes made, some boards may not be worth it, is no big deal. (if you are not making mistakes you are not really doing anything worth the time). In another life.. I did Asterisk (VoIP) it's Open source, so the way to make money was to offer something others did not, that was "Asterisk@home" (which became trixbox / Freepbx / Nerdvittles ). It was easy to install, to be up and running with a few clicks of the mouse (like here) and that fact bought in the noobs (non-tech) and every piece of junk computer they could drag out of the trash. We got "donations" by provide custom scripts / builds / added features . (for us our "Zero" was via chipset) But we had to provide tech support for that crap to get the users to come and to donate both time and money.
  17. it is not the software, replace the sd card / psu.
  18. Put up a "bounty" have those who wish to have a board supported or a feature added, have them put up some funds, plus the boards. I donated because I find the process entertaining, gives my brain something to do, but if I had a project I could see paying for a feature or 2. You guys need to offer more "fun", ...more projects which will draw in programmers and end users. I see a bunch of folks hoping to do projects that are really pushing these boards, how about some IOT projects, Magic mirror, leggo bots an so on. Igor's menu is a good start for those just starting out (reminds of Doug's menu for IBM DOS). Maybe offer access to the scripts, so folks can alter / add to it.
  19. Can always build it yourself. https://docs.armbian.com/Developer-Guide_Build-Preparation/
  20. What OS is the phone? Android? Windows? ios? I know for fact the image posted above works as it should on the PC Plus, I have it running right here. My Android phone / tablet works fine, my 10 windows box does not connect (well "connects" but authentication fails) , but it is flaky about wpa some times.
  21. It is the H3 you want, the H2+ does not get much love here because of the lack of support from the vendor , wi-fi is LOW end needs working driver and firmware for the mainline and if it is doing anything more than sitting idle, it runs on the hot side. I am happy with the Zero for the money but the Zero plus H3 is much better.
  22. try here for the H5 chipset https://dl.armbian.com/orangepizeroplus2-h5/archive/
  23. I don't think even with WRT it will not do both modes, I don't think the hardware / firmware will allow it
