You're absolutely right. The few hundred people a day downloading these broken and totally untested images (check statistics yourself: https://dl.armbian.com/_download-stats/) are all fooled since these images can't work (broken, untested, 'armbian style'). And only you are brave enough to publicly inform those lazy Armbians about this severe problem. Last image has been released back in June so those lazy Armbians already fooled thousands of poor users with providing broken and untested images. It's almost a miracle that you're the first to tell the truth! Keep on rocking!

My 1 st Micro computer as it was called then, took up the backseat of a 1966 Olds 442, it was a Altair 8800 kit a picked up at a yard sale in northwest Texas in 1977, I think.  I taught myself tiny basic on this. "writing" (really just copy code from magazines) text games.

OK so now that others see that zero wi-fi is not as crappy as others have stated.

I have wireless streamed / transferred 67 gig across a zero this month and did not see any real issues.

Now can we get it enabled for all the users??
NOT having it enabled really does not make much sense, if the powers to be do not wish to "support" then don't.
They could move those post to Peer support. Some of us are only looking at IoT projects, moving txt / csv / xml files, and so on.

I did a little project a few weeks back, call it a proof of concept, I was sent 10 zero's / sd cards and power supplies purchased as a package deal.
I setup the zeros as asked and they went out to service, the Monkey tech installing the zero's had issues with a cisco catalyst ??, and another cisco switch??.
The "tech" (firedog / geeksquad / Gurus to go) did not know what model switches....

He said one zero would not connect (wired), said he had to plug one into the switch with 12 " cable, going thru the punch down block did not work, another he had to use a cheap switch between the zero and cisco. I am told those 2 zeros have heavy packet loss over the wired connection and drop off the network once or twice a day.
Now just to be clear I did not recommend the Zero, I said he should use the PC Plus.
P.S. Because I got paid for this project I donated a small part (about 10%) to Igor..as I used Armbian build for the zeros. Hint... Hint... If everyone did this Igor and ??? could have a weekend long drunk on us.

The Armbian on the OPi's is "Plug and Play" as much as "leading edge" can be.
I am no "expert" in anything, I have no special talents but I am passionately curious.

I have never heard of U-boot util a few months back, I have never had any issues with any of the builds I was not the cause of.

I have setup 12 Zero's, a Zero plus h3 and the PC Plus, and played with a OP Prime board. Never a problem which was not known to me before hand (I read alot).

This 1 sd card out of over 20 failing on a few boards means that this whole mess is a waste of time, the cheap DEV boards will have issues that is life.

Buying CHEAP sd cards / PSU (Yes TK I know.. Moron for doing so..I can own that) will always cost you more in the long run.

But all in all this whole Armbian thing is easy as PI.... ;~) It just works 99% of the time (when you follow the guides and listen to those who know).
OH I have 10 Rpi's they have their set of issues....
The boards are sold for development= the process of developing or being developed.

Yes, it is a reflex that a hobbyist has, "to collect all the things".  Especially when one looks like it should be shinier than the others.  BSP's, true performance, driver catastrophes, kernel defilement doesn't show up in the advertisements for these devices.  It is not helped that the "flagship" SBC in most people's minds out there is the Pi 3, a micro-usb powered usb-hub throttled VPU-constrained machine with very poor resources.  Compared to that, anything with high clock numbers or extra "RAM Chips" looks like an amazing deal, people tend to take the community support over there for granted.

I do like the Wiki idea, however in a less ambitious sense:  We should list, with no "rose-colored glasses", exactly what the pros and cons are of each board supported, discrepancies between hardware specification and advertised capability, and recommended use cases for each board.  For those use cases, I would personally require a definition of minimum requirements and recommended requirements per use case, and those would live on their own pages.

Put up a "bounty" have those who wish to have a board supported or a feature added, have them put up some funds, plus the boards.
I donated because I find the process entertaining, gives my brain something to do, but if I had a project I could see paying for a feature or 2.

You guys need to offer more "fun", ...more projects which will draw in programmers and end users.
I see a bunch of folks hoping to do projects that are really pushing these boards, how about some IOT projects, Magic mirror, leggo bots an so on.

Igor's menu is a good start for those just starting out (reminds of Doug's menu for IBM DOS).
Maybe offer access to the scripts, so folks can alter / add to it.

It is the H3 you want, the H2+ does not get much love here because of the lack of support from the vendor , wi-fi is LOW end needs working driver and firmware for the mainline
and if it is doing anything more than sitting idle, it runs on the hot side.
I am happy with the Zero for the money but the Zero plus H3 is much better.
