  1. Hi, I found problem below today. I have stability problems with services running on BananaPro and therefore this is second problem after "kswapd was killing some tasks" I decided revert back to older kernel 3.4.109. I am only letting you know... Division by zero in kernel. [10616.338198] [<c0015098>] (unwind_backtrace+0x0/0x134) from [<c03e7ab8>] (Ldiv0+0x8/0x10) [10616.350152] [<c03e7ab8>] (Ldiv0+0x8/0x10) from [<c00e87ac>] (vmpressure_work_fn+0x80/0x180) [10616.360314] [<c00e87ac>] (vmpressure_work_fn+0x80/0x180) from [<c004ca00>] (process_one_work+0x12c/0x3b0) [10616.370009] [<c004ca00>] (process_one_work+0x12c/0x3b0) from [<c004cfd8>] (worker_thread+0x158/0x394) [10616.378912] [<c004cfd8>] (worker_thread+0x158/0x394) from [<c00515d0>] (kthread+0x90/0x94) [10616.397707] [<c00515d0>] (kthread+0x90/0x94) from [<c000f498>] (kernel_thread_exit+0x0/0x8)
  2. y friend wanted get rid of Windows 10 upgrade on his laptop. When he wanted close window contained information about this upgrade it was not possible. He started comunication with Microsoft support. How can I remove this screen? How can I close this screen? You cannot remove it. But I do not want upgrade. Can I just delete some files? You cannot. Is is hacking and this is ilegall. OK. I am going to use third party soft to get rid of it. (I forget their answer but it was like speak to robot again and answer was like previous one.) This is reason why is software under GPL very good choice because for example if something is wrong you can fix it legally.
  3. You are worrying right coz without fan on the bottom of the case harddrive temp is getting above 50C. But I sorted it out by attaching fan outside of the case when the cubietruck has been running nonstop.
  4. This case has hole for small fan on the bottom. It is necessery to put some active cooling in.
  5. I was running this board in same plastic case and hdd inside and your temperature are nearly same I had.
  6. Hi, I decided after long battle to move job from this device to BananaPro. When I unplugged power source I discovered broken connection between cable and buck converter. I think it has been main reason of power failures and unstability issues
  7. EDIT: I found in dmesg "Killed process 4867 (stress)", so problem is probably low memory related Hi guys, I sticked alu heatsink 20x21x15[mm] with thermal cement (links below) and I have 70C under 100% cpu load with 4 cores on. My board is Orange Pi mini 2 and I put it in clear plastic box without added top plastic (roof), so it is better ventilated. But system sends messages about high temperature when it reaches 69-70C. And last thing is when I was running mythtv's (dvbt recorder) mysql database it was unstable and it everytime ended in corrupted tables and sent mysql down. And this is output of stress test: stress: info: [2730] dispatching hogs: 4 cpu, 0 io, 4 vm, 0 hdd stress: FAIL: [2730] (416) <-- worker 2734 got signal 9 stress: WARN: [2730] (418) now reaping child worker processes stress: FAIL: [2730] (422) kill error: No such process stress: FAIL: [2730] (416) <-- worker 2732 got signal 9 stress: WARN: [2730] (418) now reaping child worker processes stress: FAIL: [2730] (422) kill error: No such process stress: FAIL: [2730] (416) <-- worker 2736 got signal 9 stress: WARN: [2730] (418) now reaping child worker processes stress: FAIL: [2730] (422) kill error: No such process stress: FAIL: [2730] (416) <-- worker 2738 got signal 9 stress: WARN: [2730] (418) now reaping child worker processes stress: FAIL: [2730] (422) kill error: No such process http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-Shipping-10PCS-electronic-radiator-aluminum-module-heatsink-size-20-21-15mm/32559733208.html http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-Shipping-5-pcs-lot-5g-GD9980-Thermally-Conductive-Adhesive-Glue-Heatsink-Plaster-Thermal-Grease-Compound/1964728700.html I think it is clear it need active cooling or edit cpufreq daemon to keep cpu on lower frequency. With example below temp is about 53C. nano /etc/init.d/cpufrequtils ENABLE=true MIN_SPEED=480000 MAX_SPEED=960000 GOVERNOR=interactive
  8. I upgraded kernel 4.x on my BananaPro today and system did not see SATA drive. This simple fix works for me: cd /boot/dtb && cp -v sun7i-a20-bananapro.dtb’ -> ‘sun7i-a20-bananapi.dtb I know this is dirty solution but I have no time to solve problems with non working BananaPro images again and again. And for second I must focus howto sort out same problem with latest image but with 3.4.110 kernel.... :-( EDIT: For some unknow reason system recognized drive on my second BananaPro board running on 3.4.110 kernel.
  9. If you have hard drive connected to SATA port it is a different story. It seems I had some reading problems :-). And whatabout to try btrfs filesystem with file checksumming? You will need kernel 4.xx but you can set filesystem compression and save some space (it has no sense turn it on media files). It is possible ext4 => btrfs conversion (do that on stable pc). And after you finish conversion you can do scrub of whole system on you Cubietruck. Scrubbing of 3TB hard drive is very time consuming process but if someting is wrong with your setup (board, power source,cables...) this process should end with some errors. What do you thing about it?
  10. I am running the Cubietruck for long time. My setup is 2 DVB tuners plugged in USB ports and one internal 2,5" 7200 rpm hard drive. I had problems with randomly interrupted tv recording in past. I discovered USB voltage is dropping when system is under load and for second I discovered I need at least 5.5V power adapter to get stable power supply 5V for USB devices. And I am running this board now on 5.7V to reach top allowed voltage value for USB (12V power adapter plus adjustable buck converter designed for 5A current beacuse 3A is not enough when 2.5" hard drive is connected to the board). USB 2.0 specification says voltage must be in range between 4,75 - 5,25V and I think you are running your system on edge of lowest value (Differecies between you and my setup: power adapters 5.5V-5.2V = 0.3V, USB ports 5V-0.3V=4.7V => 4.7 voltage is out of range). I recommend you to buy USB meter (see links bellow), plug it in separate USB port with your hard drive plugged and try some stress test while watching USB voltage. It is different when system is under load or not or if 2.5" hard drive is attached or it isn't. Therefore you must check USB voltage in your setup. test examples: stress -t 900 -c 1 -m 1 -i 2 -d 2 hdparm -t /dev/sda USB meters: 1) with low voltage buzzer 2) cheaper but it can do 3) or if you have some experiences you can cut old USB extension cable and attach multimeter for electricians
  11. Uptime: 5 days 02 hours 41 minutes 23 seconds ... but it needs poweroff after last packaged upgrade.
  12. 3days 0hours 23minutes RPi-Monitor reports about 5,5V on PWR and about 5,05V on USB OTG port (compare to previous post I raised power voltage a bit again to have 5V on USB). Mythtv-backend stopped interupting recordings from USB DVB-T tuners after I raised input voltage for my cubietruck board. But I still did not win this battle where I received this board with USB power cable and plastic box with written 5,2V on the top of power cable hole. I am afraid power voltage is higher than should be for internal hdd. I raised it with this on my mind, it was risk and it is still. I gonna measure hdd voltage this weekend. Hdd, I hope you will survive it .
  13. I am looking for alternative working image, better than on official web pages. I know story about Allwinner and its software support but do you know smthing alternative working image? If I remember when I bough this board about year ago it had problem with overheating (H3 chip on 1.6ghz) and shutdowning cores and I must enable it manually even cpu temperature returned back to safe value.
  14. Have smbody bought / tried have experiencies with this new board / advanced model of cubietruck ? If you are interested check next link bellow: http://dl.cubieboard.org/model/Cubietruck-plus/
  15. Longest uptime is 1.8 day from 27 January 2016. I raised input voltage of cubietruck board to 5,35V from previous value 5,1V and keeping this board for main purpose which is mythtv main backend running. If uptime hit 3 days I will be back ;-).
  16. I changed cubietruck.bin file to start otg usb port working for normal devices. Swapped one of 2 usb tuners to this port and added usb voltage meter to last usb free hole. I expected usb voltage is on same level like input voltage or very little lower due board paths and usb <-> cable contact resistence and cables resistence but it is not true. (It is good thing to read board schema on begining sometimes). And USB voltage has started showing in RPi-Monitor. Even I raised input board voltage to 5,3V usb-otg voltage is 4.864V in Rpi-monitor and 4.94V on usb multimeter. And second thing is I discovered USB voltage is raising up when input voltage of cubietruck board is raising. Difference is about 0.4V so I can say usb voltage was lower than minimal allowed value for usb devices and therefore It colud send system down from this reason. I forget add when I unplugged usb tuner it set kernel in error and I must reboot cubietruck.
  17. Update: Runtime is 1day and 19hours now. I changed/optimized: 1) mysql - I used mysqltuner.pl script and it showed me which settings are good to change to keep memory usage low VERY IMPORTANT !!! while performance is on good level. I added 4GB swap to hdd but it can solve every high memory demand cases which is mysql indeed. 2) cpu frequency - When I tried run cubietruck on 1008Mhz mythbackend send back invalid pointer followed with hexa value very quickly. Because this error reminded me times when I was doing overclocking of desktop computer cpu's I set maximum cpu frequency to lower value 864Mhz in script.bin and set both low and high values in /etc/init.d/cpufrequtils daemon in same values like in that script. (I left system starting on 720Mhz value like in original config) 3) I set higher voltage on my buck converter. RPi-Monitor shows average value 5,1V but sometimes it drops lower than 4,9V. Sometimes I see lower values on front page than in graph (I added it there for quick check). Difference is only between 0,1-0,2V and it shows some hardware related problems in power source design. It can be caused by me or cubietruck designers. When 7200rm hardrive is seeking even it is 2,5" in combination with changes in cpu load and usb devices load make sense why voltage is dropping sometimes. Another problems/issues: 1) I see battery charging spikes even I have already unplugged battery. Problem si in RPi-Monitor because it shows battery voltage 2.677V now and it should be 0V but it reads value from sys. No, problem is in kernel than, in PMU driver.
  18. I am running it headless but I can dig out small LCD and small silicon keyboard. Good idea @zador.blood.stained. I hope in case of wrong lan is possible to change/optimize its driver.
  19. I returned back from work and could not access cubietruck from network again => reset => little check of Rpi-Monitor, voltage had been stable, very stable before it stopped working, straight line 5V and current between ranges like usually. I do not know what is happening on the background but I must I think move /var from tmpfs back to sdcard and lower commit of root fs to keep logs. And because I received pair of Banana Pro is time to replace this non reliable device. Temps of soc and pmu temps are higher than should be but my BananaPi was able working on higher temperatures reliable and stable. I going to try vanilla kernel and wait if it not helps next step will be adding fan on soc and if it will not help again I will add capacitor on power input.
  20. Do not be confused HAZArD... ... because it is not probably your fault ;-). Did you try this image: Armbian_4.5_Bananapi_Ubuntu_trusty_3.4.109_desktop.raw ? Because this is output of /etc/modules in that image after I downloaded it from website: cat /etc/modules # /etc/modules: kernel modules to load at boot time. # # This file contains the names of kernel modules that should be loaded # at boot time, one per line. Lines beginning with "#" are ignored. # Parameters can be specified after the module name. hci_uart gpio_sunxi rfcomm hidp sunxi-ir bonding spi_sun7i 8021q a20_tp You need image with legacy kernel. (It is possible to swap between kernels if you downloaded vanilla image but it did not work for me in past and I have no time to test it on latest images now). If you are not sure which one are you running try next command: uname -r Output of this command on my bananapro it is now: 3.4.109-banana If you have vanilla kernel number should start with "4" like in this example: 4.2.3... If you see kernel version number 4 it is wrong and download image from link below : http://mirror.igorpecovnik.com/Armbian_4.5_Bananapi_Ubuntu_trusty_3.4.109_desktop.zip If your kernel number start with 3 try next command to upgrade all system packages to latest on your fresh image: apt-get update -y && apt-get upgrade ...and after successful upgrade follow my guide. If you want run your system on vanilla kernel my guide is not for you because this kernel needs different wifi driver than ap6210 at this moment I think.
  21. Try "How to unbrick the system?" http://www.armbian.com/documentation/. You will probably need relink zImage back to vmlinuz-4.2.3-sunxi - check it after unbricking. And delete /lib/firmware folder before unbricking. Or sometimes is better to start from beginning ... ;-) (copy new image to sdcard...)
  22. I wrote "I used following commands on my BananaPro board with legacy kernel and Ubuntu Trusty:" You need to read http://www.armbian.com/documentation/ before, "How to upgrade kernel?" paragraph and switch kernel before following my guide. I do not want to say you cannot test those commands in different environment (board, kernel, system) but do backup first.
  23. Try this post: http://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/472-lemaker-banana-pi-pro-not-recognized-wifi/
  24. After a few weeks it seems problem was caused by batteries attached to board a they could not handle high current for board under 100 load and 7,2k 2,5" hdd. I unplugged batteries at the beginning of this week so I need another week to confirm it ;-).
