    You can use any system, this is your own business, but I delete all messages where links are given or elements are discussed (what and how it works etc) on corelec. I have good reasons for this, but I won't explain anything to anyone. If you are not satisfied with this, you not use ArmbianTV.

    Indeed. It will just resets the zram configuration.
    The armbian-zram-config is old. I think it doesn't need to be used anymore. It used to be a better config. But things have changed since then.
    I'll take a look at it when I find time, but I said that a lot before

    According my current 5.6 kernel: Yes, the GPU clockrate is required to imposed. Or it will get really unstable if you enable panfrost.
    If you have a newer kernel, you might try it without setting clockrate first. If thing went bad for you, just remember to try this.
     
    I use the kernel ripped from libreELEC at https://gitlab.com/FuyuriSeiji/linux-5.6-le
    I made changes into build system config to use this kernel
    For the root, I use Gentoo's and emerge mesa with VIDEO_CARDS="panfrost."
    And the patched of ffmpeg at https://gitlab.com/FuyuriSeiji/ffmpeg 
    These enable my setup to have hardware decoding with DRMPRIME kodi. 
     
    If you have ever bumped any problem, you might consider what I list here as alternative approach.

    Never had any issues with python when playing with Panfrost AFAIR...
    Try to install the module with pip3 install Mako
    Maybe do a pip3 install --upgrade pip before to update the installer itself.
     
    Depending on your OS the command might be different or not available at all. If necessary search apt for python3 pip and install it.

    Nice board. Clean and simple.
    I like this SoC a lot, very power efficient and good thermals.

    What will be the price? When will it be sold?
    I'd like to see wifi/BT on-board. But not everyone needs that for their tasks, I understand why not to have it.
    I also like to have a barrel jack for power. Type-C is ok. But still a lot of issue's with bad cables and bad contacts.

    XFCE is a lot more customizeable than LXDE. I think you need to do a bit more investigation.
    If you want LXDE, you can easily install it yourself. "sudo apt install lubuntu-desktop"
    I hate LXDE. Ain't nothing good about it except for a little less memory usage. Only for a 500MB device it's useful. But who runs a desktop on a 500MB device?

    The xfce4-goodies are too good vs those of lxde.
    You can make an xfce4 desktop look the way you like, MacOS, Windows or just your own flavor. No other DE is that good for that reason.

    Yes both can be used at the same time.
    If your configuration is set right it first will use memory, then zram. And only after that the swap file.

    If you've got the 4GB model it can be good to reinstall zram-config
    "sudo apt install zram-config"

    It should make 2GB zram for 4GB models but only makes 1GB default.

    Could someone inform me if this is all that needs to be done? 
    I'm back using the H6. I've updated my install script for panfrost with an H6 install with this code added to do the above :

    You dont have to. I have the same "conflict" in my system but it does not even matter.
    I even think there is an issue with the oibaf repositiory and the libs from their packages are being installed in the wrong place.
    See my post above where you can find libs in /usr/lib as well as /usr/local/lib
    I did glmark2 twice. In between I built the latest mesa from scratch and had a different version string which matched the latest commit. Therefore I assume the oibaf libs are (partially at least) not being used.
     
    tl;dr:
    apt build-dep mesa
    Grab sources
    Compile like described here: https://panfrost.freedesktop.org/building-panfrost-mesa.html
    Restart X
    Done.

    We added acronyms to the forums. Commonly used abbreviation like SoC are now marked and their meaning can be highlighted by simply moving the cursor over it.

    allwinner h6 tv boxes usually do not have a voltage regulator for the cpu voltage and thus always run at full voltage even if the frequency is scaled down, so throttling is very inefficient here - in my experience they close to always need active cooling to deal with any serious load for a longer time at full cpu frequency ... i only have one board where i replaced the original heat sink with a much larger one and added fresh high quality thermal paste between it and the soc and that one can run without a fan if not in a case (i.e. good air flow) ... s905x3 is much cooler as its cores are done in a 12nm process vs. the 28nm process of the h6

    You know, @NicoD, I think a great article/video for you would be to explain the difference between the versions of debian/ubuntu (buster, bionic, jessie, etc.), and the different versions of the kernel. What is legacy vs mainline? What does it mean when one has support and the other doesn't? (can't you just copy it over).  Why are these features, like hardware acceleration, so difficult to make work?  I would write it if I understood it, but I don't. And as you can see in this thread, smart guys like all of you don't even understand what we don't understand.  I can tell you that my methodology is to wait until someone posts a useful link and try it, because I have no idea what changing a kernel in armbian config even does, and what it would effect.  I wouldn't say it's like "explain it for the dumb people."  Because I personally wrote a book on remote web publishing in Perl for John Wiley in 1996, and gave away working software, before anyone even envisioned wordpress.  I'm sure a lot of other people who look stupid here are actually not at all.  You don't know what you don't know, and I have yet to find a good explanation of how these operating systems work now. 
     
    I just asked Stephen from Opi if one of his images has hardware acceleration, and he said it did. Yet my experience with his images are that they don't even work.  So if someone did this, it would be great to explain why things work here and they don't work there, and why, if it works on an old kernel, why anyone would want to even use "mainline" where all kinds of nasty things are broken (like not being able to log into my gmail).  
     
    Just an idea.  I love @NicoD's approach, even if it is usually not from the perspective of what I use pis for at all.  Two wives and six kids later, I don't have a lot of time for retro-gaming. :)

    You may run into some unsatisfying QEMU messages when building particular images with Bionic. Still supported though but might break someday. At the latest when it becomes EOL in three years

    N2+ or Khadas VIM3. They're the only ones that have more performance than this SoC.

    I've got the NanoPC T3+ with this SoC. Single core performance isn't great. But multi-core it is amazing. Faster than the RK3399.
    Here some old benchmarks. For you the CPUMiner scores are important.

    The Odroid N2+ is one of the most energy efficient SBCs around. When maxed out on CPUs it only consumes 6W. Most others need double of that for half the performance.

    These days mining isn't done on computer hardware but on specialized hardware. So with a few SBCs you can't compete with these ASICs.
    But if you use solar power then you've got the big advantage that you don't need to pay for energy costs. What's the biggest cost for ASICs. If you really want to do this, then do your research well. Else it's a probable moneypit. But at least you can enjoy the SBCs.
