    We are working with Amlogic and BayLibre to get to the root of the ethernet issues on mainline for Amlogic chips. We should have a resolution soon. One was caused by double poking a register in Designware's IP. There's a secondary issue we are looking into.

    @tkaiser Allwinner only certifies the H3 to operate at 1008MHz @1.2V and H5 to operate at 1008MHz @ 1.1V with DDR clocks up to 672MHz. Designs and software support for adjustable voltage and higher clock rates must be validated by the third party that chooses to implementing such features.  DVFS will not be supported in the Allwinner H3/H5 BSPs since the transition to AXP8036. I have seen some small boards with 16-bit DDR3 (1 DDR chip) clocked at 744MHz but they are almost guaranteed to have memory errors and video playback issues.

    Neil finished u-boot UMS support for us. So, soon you will be able to flash the eMMC by exposing it as a mass storage device to your PC.

    I haven't played with Armbian but ttyS0 is only present on Amlogic's kernel. On mainline kernel, it should be ttyAML0. It could be that there's no such device and the tty service is restarting due to it.

    There's no plans for full size PCI-E cards because that is like Pandora's box in terms of customer issues. If 20V works, we could potentially design a mezzanine to drive PoE devices and act as a terminator for PoE camera system for computer vision applications.

    Native *speed*. Thanks for the catch. 5V and 12V works. Still trying to get 20V working.

    Hi guys,
    some months ago I implemented an Odroid C2 as readout controller for a scientific instrument.
    Lot of people were kind and helped me with some problems with Armbian, especially eMMC and PWM.

    Today, finally, we managed to have our instrument (two strings with several Odroid C2 and other stuff) deployed.
    It is sitting now at 2628m depth in the Pacific Ocean, and will go operational the next days.

    Here we are... I think I can announce the deepest Odroid so far (cry loud if I'm wrong :) )
    In the picture you just can see the Titanium housing with two glass covers attached to the string.

    Again, thanks for the fish :)

    That basic design will be used on all 5W-20W power envelop solutions including the S905D2/X2 and S922. It is CNC milled but designed with mass production in mind.

    Care to report the instabilities you will now run into (before others find this thread and think this would be a great idea)?

    You could start with https://github.com/ehoutsma/StabilityTester but would need to adjust both MAXFREQUENCY and the REGULATOR_* variables first.

    @Tido It needs microcode for the Cortex M chip to support suspend and then a lot of software work to get out of it. It will be quite a while before that kind of work gets mainlined if at all.

    Da Xue reacted to sbc_chrisb in Le Potato GPIO pins on /sys
    So, I still need to verify some of the later pins, going to work on that tomorrow with a bash walker loop while I swap wires on the header to an LED. This is yet another table that maps the 40 pins to libgpio, for reference. Maybe someone will find it useful. GC0 is gpiochip0 and GC1 is gpiochip1 in libgpio.

    Quick bash variable list for importing into scripts, so you can just think in terms of header pins rather than the mappings.

    P01=NA P02=NA P03=0:5 P04=NA P05=0:4 P06=NA P07=1:98 P08=1:91 P09=NA P10=1:92 P11=0:8 P12=0:6 P13=0:9 P14=NA P15=1:100 P16=1:93 P17=NA P18=1:94 P19=1:87 P20=NA P21=1:88 P22=1:79 P23=1:90 P24=1:89 P25=NA P26=1:80 P27=1:75 P28=1:76 P29=1:96 P30=NA P31=1:97 P32=1:95 P33=1:85 P34=NA P35=1:86 P36=1:81 P37=1:84 P38=1:82 P39=NA P40=1:83
    Example bash script:

    #!/bin/bash . pinheaders #This is the above variable list as a separate file print() { for i in {01..40}; do var=P${i} printf "Pin $i: ${!var}\n"; done } walk() { for i in {01..40}; do var=P${i} if [[ ! ${!var} = "NA" ]]; then chip=gpiochip$(echo ${!var} | cut -f1 -d:) pin=$(echo ${!var} | cut -f2 -d:) gpioset $chip ${pin}=1 sleep .5 gpioset $chip ${pin}=0 fi done }
    You get the idea. If you're working with just pins 27 and 28 you can source the pinheader file, then use $P27 and $P28 to get the chip and pin from that variable.

    Hopefully this info is useful to someone searching the forum like I was.

    All of the benchmarks on libre.computer were ran on the standard bl30 from Amlogic's openlinux site.  The blob I have is for my testing only since using them and advertising the results is cheating.

    To be honest if they drive the chip at higher voltages like 1.3V like the Allwinner H3, I think they can hit 2GHz. However, power consumption, heat, and reliability become concerns. I think they originally tested at 2GHz and made all the marketing materials but had to scale back to make power consumption and other factors look pretty. Amlogic is pretty ahead of the curve in low cost quad-core A53 SoCs. We just started getting competitor chips last year which means Amlogic is almost 2 years ahead of the curve with S905.
