  1. I am experimenting with a cheap ILI9341 screen and mi OrangePi Zero LTS https://www.aliexpress.us/item/2251832431328471.html I found these recent instructions to be able to display graphics here: https://ryjelsum.me/homelab/xpt2046-ili9341-opi-zero/ with a reference to a previous experience (without mentioning success) https://hackaday.io/project/190371-g-edm/log/217902-first-success-with-armbian-nanopi-and-ili9341-touch and independently, I found these instructions and experiences here: https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Allwinner_overlays/ https://forum.armbian.com/topic/27457-connecting-banana-pi-m2-zero-with-ili9341-display-over-spi-on-latest-armbian-image/ <-just found it and it has some success with BananaPi M2 Zero https://tech-de.netlify.app/articles/de547180/index.html https://4pda.to/forum/index.php?showtopic=782242&st=5060#entry112401076 I connected with wires as shown in instructions: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/28674-text-version-of-orange-pi-zero-pinout/ And the LCD's LED input pin to 3.3V I activated the spi-add-cs1 overlay in arbian-config I copied the dts for opiZ into ~/ili9341/ili9341-touch-double-spi-cs.dts Then, I executed: cd ili9341 armbian-add-overlay ili9341-touch-double-spi-cs.dts Then, I rebooted, and my LCD just looks gray. My armbianEnv looks like this: verbosity=1 bootlogo=false console=both disp_mode=1920x1080p60 overlay_prefix=sun8i-h3 overlays=spi-add-cs1 tve usbhost2 usbhost3 rootdev=UUID=7d9a7016-73db-4f9c-a5bd-e3e5ab53ffc4 rootfstype=ext4 user_overlays=ili9341-touch-double-spi-cs usbstoragequirks=0x2537:0x1066:u,0x2537:0x1068:u my armbianmonitor -u: https://paste.armbian.com/arogurekiv I am still not done checking against the experiences with Bpi M2-0, but I ask here: anyone has experience with ILI9341+XPT2046, in either OrangePi Zero or Zero 3? Should I downgrade to Linux 6.1.53?
  2. After upgrading to Armbian 26.2, I noticed that if I mounted a network drive (samba, cifs) and even accessed it, and then tried to unmount it (sudo umount -t cifs ...), the system would freeze. Upgrading from Debian 12 (bookworm) to Debian 13 (trixie) didn't help. I did a rollback to Armbian 25.x via backup, and this problem doesn't exist there.
  3. I've recently started seeing similar issues on my orange pi 5 plus and have narrowed it down to uboot spl not detecting the sd cards on initial cold boot. The reason I started noticing this is because I have long overlay path names that are fine with the version of uboot proper that I have on my sd card but does not work with the uboot proper that is on the onboard eeprom. I only started noticing this when getting a new batch of sd cards. this is a "good boot" uboot spl detects the sd card and boots from it: DDR 9fffbe1e78 cym 24/02/04-10:09:20,fwver: v1.16 LPDDR4X, 2112MHz channel[0] BW=16 Col=10 Bk=8 CS0 Row=17 CS1 Row=17 CS=2 Die BW=16 Size=4096MB channel[1] BW=16 Col=10 Bk=8 CS0 Row=17 CS1 Row=17 CS=2 Die BW=16 Size=4096MB channel[2] BW=16 Col=10 Bk=8 CS0 Row=17 CS1 Row=17 CS=2 Die BW=16 Size=4096MB channel[3] BW=16 Col=10 Bk=8 CS0 Row=17 CS1 Row=17 CS=2 Die BW=16 Size=4096MB Manufacturer ID:0xff CH0 RX Vref:29.3%, TX Vref:21.8%,21.8% CH1 RX Vref:28.9%, TX Vref:23.8%,22.8% CH2 RX Vref:30.1%, TX Vref:21.8%,20.8% CH3 RX Vref:30.5%, TX Vref:21.8%,21.8% change to F1: 528MHz change to F2: 1068MHz change to F3: 1560MHz change to F0: 2112MHz out U-Boot SPL board init U-Boot SPL 2017.09-orangepi (Aug 30 2024 - 22:09:16) Trying to boot from MMC1 Trying fit image at 0x4000 sector ## Verified-boot: 0 ## Checking atf-1 0x00040000 ... sha256(d37470e935...) + OK ## Checking u-boot 0x00a00000 ... sha256(249bd3a5c2...) + OK ## Checking fdt-1 0x00acd498 ... sha256(537243530a...) + OK ## Checking atf-2 0xff100000 ... sha256(394f39cea2...) + OK Jumping to U-Boot(0x00a00000) via ARM Trusted Firmware(0x00040000) Total: 840.114 ms NOTICE: BL31: v2.12.1(release): NOTICE: BL31: Built : 00:00:00, Jan 1 1980 At this point uboot proper which lives on my sd card and remaps the debug uart to one of the 40 pin header runs. in a bad boot I am seeing this: DDR 9fffbe1e78 cym 24/02/04-10:09:20,fwver: v1.16 LPDDR4X, 2112MHz channel[0] BW=16 Col=10 Bk=8 CS0 Row=17 CS1 Row=17 CS=2 Die BW=16 Size=4096MB channel[1] BW=16 Col=10 Bk=8 CS0 Row=17 CS1 Row=17 CS=2 Die BW=16 Size=4096MB channel[2] BW=16 Col=10 Bk=8 CS0 Row=17 CS1 Row=17 CS=2 Die BW=16 Size=4096MB channel[3] BW=16 Col=10 Bk=8 CS0 Row=17 CS1 Row=17 CS=2 Die BW=16 Size=4096MB Manufacturer ID:0xff CH0 RX Vref:29.3%, TX Vref:21.8%,21.8% CH1 RX Vref:29.3%, TX Vref:23.8%,22.8% CH2 RX Vref:30.5%, TX Vref:21.8%,20.8% CH3 RX Vref:30.5%, TX Vref:21.8%,21.8% change to F1: 528MHz change to F2: 1068MHz change to F3: 1560MHz change to F0: 2112MHz out U-Boot SPL board init U-Boot SPL 2017.09-orangepi (Aug 30 2024 - 22:09:16) Trying to boot from MMC1 spl: mmc init failed with error: -95 Trying to boot from MMC2 Card did not respond to voltage select! spl: mmc init failed with error: -95 Trying to boot from MTD2 Trying fit image at 0x400 sector ## Verified-boot: 0 ## Checking atf-1 0x00040000 ... sha256(6dbe36e3e6...) + OK ## Checking uboot 0x00200000 ... sha256(152eb1bd26...) + OK ## Checking fdt 0x00325f70 ... sha256(16188a5876...) + OK ## Checking atf-2 0xff100000 ... sha256(40e9180d15...) + OK ## Checking atf-3 0x000f0000 ... sha256(d189664c33...) + OK Jumping to U-Boot(0x00200000) via ARM Trusted Firmware(0x00040000) Total: 2706.733 ms INFO: Preloader serial: 2 NOTICE: BL31: v2.3():v2.3-754-g371ede2b2:cym, fwver: NOTICE: BL31: Built : 19:36:27, Apr 22 2024 INFO: spec: 0x1 INFO: code: 0x88 INFO: ext 32k is valid INFO: ddr: stride-en 4CH INFO: GICv3 without legacy support detected. 4. I believe this question goes to @rpardini as maintainer of patches for Rockchip series in the `build` repo: I'm trying connect camera to Orange Pi 3B (yes, it boots from community support on edge kernels), but spent 2h digging to find no drivers for CSI2 from Rockchip's fork are ported to patches for recent kernels (for example: https://github.com/armbian/linux-rockchip/blob/rk-5.10-rkr6/drivers/phy/rockchip/phy-rockchip-csi2-dphy.c and corresponding device trees to instantiate these drivers). This is a little chicken egg problem as I need recent kernels to have access to open source GPU drivers - they're not present on 5.10 based original system images for OrangePi 3B. I created a DT overlay for imx219 camera, but it cannot work as right references don't exist on Armbian yet. I could help with porting these, but I need to know the procedure - that's some amount of drivers I can figure out based on `compatible = ` entries from Rockchip's device trees. I probably need to get them built with 6.6 and 6.7, then generate patches with these and PR changes. Any more hints appreciated. I'm interested in having both MIPI CSI2 and GPU working on these boards for now: OrangePi 3B (that one I have on my desk) Radxa Zero 3E Radxa Zero 3W Thank you. How you can live with forum not supporting humanly Markdown?
  5. I recently got a Raspberry Pi 5 and installed Armbian on it. Most things work fine, aside for some weird output issues in htop and nano. I noticed, when I go to the Raspberry Pi page on Armbian, the url refers to the Pi 4b, not the 5. I also found some articles online linking to a specific Pi 5b page (which I thought was weird since that model doesn't exist), but it just redirects to the 4b page. Then, I went searching in the archive and found that, at some point, there were specific 5b images available (https://armbian.hosthatch.com/archive/rpi5b/archive). Which of these should I use? Is the 4b image okay to use on a Pi 5? Or do you not support the Pi 5 at all? Sorry if this has been answered before, it is kind of impossible to search this forum for similar questions with the super aggressive rate limiting.
  6. @ARx8 @rafaeldavid I was having this problem, and I just figured out that this is a cheat from the chip. I don't know the details but basically they mark the memory as 2GB but it actually just have 512MB. The Armbian sees 2GB but when you do a task that requires more that the actual 512MB it crashes. To solve that I manually set the memory on the Armbian to be 512MB. Edit the file: /boot/armbianEnv.txt Add the line (or change if already exists): extraargs=mem=512M On my case the device claimed 2GB of Ram. I reach the 512M testing. To get to this number I ran: free -h This gave me the amount of memory the system was already using (230M). After that I apt installed memtester and start testing the memory: memtester 200M I started at 200M and cancel the test (CTRL-C) on the firsts interaction after: Stuck Address : ok Random Value : ok Compare XOR : ok Compare SUB : ok Compare MUL : ok Compare DIV : ok Compare OR : ok Compare AND : ok The other tests took too long and if the problem is the memory that didnt exist just the firsts test would be enough. I ran memtester increading by 50M, so 200,250,300... And on 300 the system crashed, so I assumed the real memory of the chip was 512 (the 230 from the system + the 250 from the memtester before it crashed).

  8. Hi, posting a solution I have found how to boot Armbian on S905x device Scishion V88 Pro My device: * works, boots into an Android (has working u-boot) * has no reset button * contains thirdparty Android ROM that does not allow to enter aml burn mode * cannot use Android update app * does not respond to eMMC pin short (like in this post) The only way to boot Armbian in this case is to solder serial console, interrupt u-boot and run recover from sd card command: 1. solder serial console 2. connect usb-serial adapter 3. insert Armbian prepared SD card for your amlogic CPU version 4. plug power and immediately press and hold Enter 5. you should see interrupted u-boot prompt (ex, gxl_p212_v1#) 6. type command run recovery_from_sdcard and hit Enter 7. the box should now boot in Armbian An example session: gxl_p212_v1#help ? - alias for 'help' aml_sysrecovery- Burning with amlogic format package from partition sysrecovery amlmmc - AMLMMC sub system amlnf - aml nand sub-system amlnf_test- AMLPHYNAND sub-system autoscr - run script from memory base - print or set address offset bmp - manipulate BMP image data booti - boot arm64 Linux Image image from memory bootm - boot application image from memory bootp - boot image via network using BOOTP/TFTP protocol cbusreg - cbus register read/write clkmsr - measure PLL clock cmp - memory compare cp - memory copy crc32 - checksum calculation cvbs - CVBS sub-system dcache - enable or disable data cache defenv_reserv- reserve some specified envs after defaulting env dhcp - boot image via network using DHCP/TFTP protocol echo - echo args to console efuse - efuse read/write data commands efuse_user- efuse user space read write ops emmc - EMMC sub system env - environment handling commands exit - exit script false - do nothing, unsuccessfully fatinfo - print information about filesystem fatload - load binary file from a dos filesystem fatls - list files in a directory (default /) fatsize - determine a file's size fdt - flattened device tree utility commands forceupdate- forceupdate get_rebootmode- get reboot mode go - start application at address 'addr' gpio - query and control gpio pins hdmitx - HDMITX sub-system help - print command description/usage i2c - I2C sub-system icache - enable or disable instruction cache imgread - Read the image from internal flash with actual size irkey - irkey key_value1 key_value2 time_value itest - return true/false on integer compare jtagoff - disable jtag jtagon - enable jtag keyman - Unify key ops interfaces based dts cfg keyunify- key unify sub-system loop - infinite loop on address range macreg - ethernet mac register read/write/dump md - memory display mm - memory modify (auto-incrementing address) mmc - MMC sub system mmcinfo - display MMC info mw - memory write (fill) mwm - mw mask function nm - memory modify (constant address) open_scp_log- print SCP messgage osd - osd sub-system phyreg - ethernet phy register read/write/dump ping - send ICMP ECHO_REQUEST to network host printenv- print environment variables rarpboot- boot image via network using RARP/TFTP protocol read_temp- cpu temp-system reboot - set reboot mode and reboot system reset - Perform RESET of the CPU rsvmem - reserve memory run - run commands in an environment variable saradc - saradc sub-system saradc_12bit- saradc sub-system saveenv - save environment variables to persistent storage sdc_burn- Burning with amlogic format package in sdmmc sdc_update- Burning a partition with image file in sdmmc card set_trim_base- cpu temp-system set_usb_boot- set usb boot mode setenv - set environment variables showvar - print local hushshell variables silent - silent sleep - delay execution for some time store - STORE sub-system systemoff- system off temp_triming- cpu temp-system test - minimal test like /bin/sh tftpboot- boot image via network using TFTP protocol true - do nothing, successfully unpackimg- un pack logo image into pictures update - Enter v2 usbburning mode usb - USB sub-system usb_burn- Burning with amlogic format package in usb usb_update- Burning a partition with image file in usb host usbboot - boot from USB device version - print monitor, compiler and linker version vout - VOUT sub-system vpu - vpu sub-system wipeisb - wipeisb write_trim- cpu temp-system write_version- cpu temp-system gxl_p212_v1#printenv EnableSelinux=enforcing aml_dt=gxl_p212_1g baudrate=115200 bootargs=rootfstype=ramfs init=/init console=ttyS0,115200 no_console_suspend earlyprintk=aml-uart,0xc81004c0 ramoops.pstore_en=1 ramoops.record_size=0x8000 ramoops.console_size=0x4000 androidboot.selinux=permissive androidboot.selinux=enforcing logo=osd1,loaded,0x3d800000,1080p60hz maxcpus=4 vout=1080p60hz,enable hdmimode=1080p60hz cvbsmode=576cvbs hdmitx= cvbsdrv=0 androidboot.firstboot=0 jtag=apee androidboot.hardware=amlogic bootcmd=run storeboot bootdelay=1 bootup_offset=0x1080240 bootup_size=0x3f4c8 cmdline_keys=if keyman init 0x1234; 9. Hello everybody, I am new at linux have ubuntu running on n old windows laptop now I found a new use for my old TVBOX i have lying around I need some help logging in to my tv box it is a T95ZPlus with a 912 soc I am booting Armbian_community_25.11.0-trunk.519_Aml-s9xx-box_plucky_edge_6.18.0-rc6_xfce_desktop.img.xz I copy u-boot-s905x2-s912 to u-boot.ext My extlinux.conf looks like this label Armbian_community kernel /Image initrd /uInitrd fdt /dtb/amlogic/meson-gxm-t95z-plus.dtb append root=UUID=8ba6ae05-2bb2-4d2c-bba6-ce6cd91ed2cb rootflags=data=writeback console=ttyAML0,115200n8 console=tty0 rw no_console_suspend consoleblank=0 fsck.fix=yes fsck.repair=yes net.ifnames=0 The system runs but after booting Armbian_community 25.11.0-trunk.519 plucky tty1 it gives me this prompt aml-s9xx-box loging the tutorial tells Basic OS configuration is conducted at first boot. You are asked to set a root password, normal user But my system asked for a login so i am stuck I hope someone have had this problem and can give a solution Greetings Ducdreamer
  10. Hello, I've been using https://joshua-riek.github.io/ubuntu-rockchip-download/boards/orangepi-5-plus.html with a custom kernel that I built to activate my TPM2.0 device and it works. Now I'm asked to use an UEFI compatible image with my Orange Pi 5 Plus. So what I did is more or less the same thing that in here But instead of the legacy kernel I used the 6.1.115-rockchip-vendor-rk35xx kernel and my device booted, I got an HDMI output, etc. And then I updated it to my custom kernel (6.1.0-1027-rockchip) that has the necessary configurations to allow TPM over SPI. Now I'm trying to activate my TPM2.0 as I did before. To do that I added my compiled *.dtbo (rk3588-spi0-tpm-cs1.dtbo) to /boot/dtb/rockchip/overlay and activated it with armbian-config. After reboot this is my /boot/armbianEnv.txt orangepi@uefi-arm64:~$ cat /boot/armbianEnv.txt verbosity=1 bootlogo=true console=both extraargs=cma=256M overlay_prefix=rk3588 fdtfile=rockchip/rk3588-orangepi-5-plus.dtb rootdev=UUID=3e555b58-fdf4-4e2f-a3af-a8ecfd8034b6 rootfstype=ext4 overlays=spi0-tpm-cs1 param_spidev_spi_bus=0 However I still can't see my tpm under /dev/. I don't know what I'm missing, I'm quite new to this sorry Thank you for your time
  11. Hello all, I succeed to boot on sata usb by seting the UUID of the armbian_root from mmcblk1p1 to sda1 I tested several M2 SSD enclosures both NVME and NGFF most of the time, one in the middle, has a USB Hub and micro SDCARD port. Now if the USB enclosures is not connected, we are stuck in initramfs stage because the UIID partition given in /boot/ArmbianEnv.txt does not exist. I changed the UUID of emmc armbian_root (mmcblk1p1) thinking it would be overmapped with partition of S2 usb enclosure (sda1). It is not the case, it will only boot on emmc , ignoring S2 enclosures when mmcblk1p1 and sda1 shares the same UUID. I suggest USB enclosures should comes in higher boot priority than emmc after a bootable sdcard is present or not, so the end user is not lost in initramfs jungle.
  12. Hi, I successfully installed and tested PiClone (or also called SD Card Copier) in Armbian 25.8.1 Trixie on a Raspberry PI 4b with SD cards and SSD via USB adapter and vice versa. Might also work on other Debian based distro's. I just leave my personal instructions here in case others need PiClone too to make copy of good working Armbian install and configuration. To be clear I am not a very advanced user, so others may know to do more efficient. But it is working here without issue. Moved to Armbian because was fed up with annoyances in DietPI, certain things being too different from pure Debian that I use on "regular" computers. Raspberry PI OS is too much slower than DietPI, Raspberry PI OS Lite with custom DE install too many bugs and errors. Armbian so far seems best option. Very close to "real" Debian and seems even faster than DietPI. In DietPI based on Bookworm could install app PiClone via apt, but in Armbian Trixie not, probably not in official Debian repo for Trixie anymore. But in Bookworm based Debian instead of building and compiling PiClone at step 3 could try: sudo apt install piclone. SO I INSTALLED PICLONE LIKE THIS: 1) DEPENDENCIES: -NEEDED VIA TERMINAL: sudo apt-get install debhelper dh-autoreconf libglib2.0-dev libgtk-3-dev parted dosfstools e2fsprogs coreutils mount uuid zenity dbus-x11 libgtk-3-0 -ALSO NEEDED: sudo apt-get install libtool automake autoconf nasm pkgconf 2) INSTALL APP VIA TERMINAL: wget https://github.com/raspberrypi-ui/piclone/archive/refs/heads/master.zip -O piclone.zip unzip piclone.zip cd piclone-master THEN: -sudo apt install meson -meson setup builddir -cd builddir -meson compile -sudo meson install 3) START APP Now can start PiClone app via application menu or in terminal type "piclone" and enter. Sources: 1) LAST STEP INSTALL PICLONE ITSELF WAS NOT WORKING: https://www.childs.be/articles/post/how-to-install-raspberry-pis-sd-card-copier-on-your-non-raspian-linux-machine 2) LAST STEP INSTALL PICLONE APP VIA THIS LINK: https://github.com/raspberrypi-ui/piclone#
  13. Armbian Bookworm 25.8.1. (minimal) Odroid XU4 with 32GB eMMc After lots of searching and trying 2017 Hardkernel solutions and github etc - And this forum suggestions - I could never get get it to boot. I think this is partly because things have changed since 2016/17. I did not have my eMMc on an usb adapter. Just installed, brand new (untouched from China) eMMc and a imaage install on MicroSD of Armbian. The method I believed should work was "armbian-install". But, it had errors while using mkpartimage. I put debug statements in the script and found the particular instance of invoking mkpartimage. Actually the issue is; 2 files are missing from /boot folder. Current SD installation image of Armbian minimal only creates one fdisk (MBR) partition on which /boot is a folder. I tried for ages to create a separate /boot partition. Maybe, since I have now succeeded with an eMMc install, I might try doing a separate root and boot. The 2 missing files are armbianEnv.txt and boot.cmd If one "touch"es armbianEnv.txt then - if it doesn't exist it will be created - if it does then no harm done. If one copies boot.ini to boot.cmd then these two things will satisfy armbian-install. Amrbian-install correctly changes the R/O of mmcblkXboot1 (where X is emmc device number) write the boot stuff and markit back R/O. It also ensures that armbianEnv.txt has got correct entries in it. In summary Install eMMc and Micro SD in XU4 Ensure SD/eMMc switch set to SD and boot armbian from SD Login as root or use sudo touch /boot/armbianEnv.txt cp /boot/boot.ini /boot/boot.cmd armbian-install choose the install and boot from eMMc option shutdown change switch to boot armbian from eMMc boot

  15. All. After some more research I could dig further, but still no picture on the tft screen. It seemes, the same probelm already popped up elsewhere: https://github.com/notro/fbtft/issues/577 by using some ideas there, I could achieve the follwoing: [ 11.299717] fbtft: module is from the staging directory, the quality is unknown, you have been warned. Ok, let's see this. config-6.6.113-current-odroidxu4 has reference saying ONFIG_FRAMEBUFFER_CONSOLE=y so the above referenced fbdev should already be here. The lcd scripts coming with cloudhell al trying to send text to /dev/tty1 as the output console. So I assume, I should have something similar: dmesg|grep tty [ 0.000000] Kernel command line: splash=verbose console=ttySAC2,115200n8 console=tty1 consoleblank=0 loglevel=1 root=UUID=4cac61c9-e109-4524-9fd2-c9859f87842c rootfstype=ext4 rootwait rw drm_kms_helper.edid_firmware=edid/1024x768.bin smsc95xx.macaddr=00:1e:06:61:7a:55 governor=ondemand hdmi_tx_amp_lvl=31 hdmi_tx_lvl_ch0=3 hdmi_tx_lvl_ch1=3 hdmi_tx_lvl_ch2=3 hdmi_tx_emp_lvl=6 hdmi_clk_amp_lvl=31 hdmi_tx_res=0 HPD=false vout=dvi usb-storage.quirks=0x2537:0x1066:u,0x2537:0x1068:u [ 0.002547] printk: console [tty1] enabled [ 2.122547] 12c00000.serial: ttySAC0 at MMIO 0x12c00000 (irq = 124, base_baud = 0) is a S3C6400/10 [ 2.123447] 12c20000.serial: ttySAC2 at MMIO 0x12c20000 (irq = 125, base_baud = 0) is a S3C6400/10 [ 2.123502] printk: console [ttySAC2] enabled [ 9.707531] systemd[1]: Created slice system-serial\x2dgetty.slice - Slice /system/serial-getty. 16. Good that it can be updated quite easily, although I am not sure about longer-term. In order to see what it is, I took a quick-and-dirty approach, so not running an install script but taking NextcloudPi_RaspberryPi4_v1.55.3.zip and make that run as/via UEFI. Reason is that Raspberry's must have 2 partitions, 1st must be FAT, so this I know can co-exist with EFI booting. Most other SBC images use 1 ext4 partition, so there is no FAT boot partition where EFI/boot/bootaa64.efi can be placed. I symlink between folders 'firmware' and 'efi' in /boot/, so no change in fstab needed to get it running. It turns out the image is a bit older Armbian Bookworm, not Raspberry Pi OS, so I had to delete some script in /etc/kernel/postinst.d/ and /etc/kernel/postrm.d/ Current Armbian RPI images use a script from RPL (Raspberry Pi OS). For this case I did just direct-boot a Debian13 kernel, copied from other Debian13 Arm64 VM. Once booted, I had to do some DNS fixes (standard fixed 1.0.0.1) and install grub-efi and install it and set boot partition to type 0xEF. As indicated, this also works on a real SD-card taken from an RPI (at least the 4 and 5). The 3 needs a hybrid partition table as the bootROM does not boot from MBR type 0xEF and TianoCore UEFI won't boot from a type 0x0C or other FAT type tag. I see https://www.armbian.com/qemu-uboot-arm64/ list 2 variants, I guess first is UEFI, but have not downloaded it. I use flat/raw images, not QCOW2, so same as SD-card, USB-sticks etc. The second states U-Boot, so I think this needs direct QEMU with -bios option and rather extensive set of options. It is fine for CLI only and fast way to get a single partition image running. Both are Ubuntu and looking at x86-VMs from Nextcloud, I see Ubuntu is needed, so maybe a good starting point. Else use Armbian build.

  19. Armbian 24.5.0 Bookworm images (linux-6.1/linux-6.6) for TVBoxes: Vontar KK MAX / HK1 RBOX R2 / HK1 RBOX R3 (the same dts/dtb should work for these TVBoxes) Here is a dts and dtb files, working reworked for mainline: hk1-rbox-r3-profile-kernel-6.1-6.6.zip (original dts and dtb from TVBox rk-kernel-orig.zip) Checked the following: HDMI - works (need to check hot plugging) HDMI sound - works USB 2.0 - works USB 3.0 - works SPDIF - should work (I cannot to check) SD-Card booting and detection - works eMMC install on it (/sbin/nand-sata-install) and detection - works RKDevTool installing and loading images on/from eMMC - works GPU (bugs/frizzes on mainline are not canceled) - works Hardware video acceleration(except for browsers) - works Dualboot if you flash new bootloader (SD-Card boot high priority) - works Here are the compiled Armbian images (Bookworm only) with integrated dtb: https://www.mediafire.com/file/4dwf7ce922x7obq/Armbian-unofficial_24.5.0-trunk_Hk1-rbox-r3_bookworm_current_6.1.87_cinnamon_desktop.img.xz/file https://www.mediafire.com/file/fjwtxb5gjzip341/Armbian-unofficial_24.5.0-trunk_Hk1-rbox-r3_bookworm_current_6.1.87_minimal.img.xz/file https://www.mediafire.com/file/iuz4uijgjh5ry1r/Armbian-unofficial_24.5.0-trunk_Hk1-rbox-r3_bookworm_current_6.6.28_cinnamon_desktop.img.xz/file https://www.mediafire.com/file/kofyqabr5k6qxm8/Armbian-unofficial_24.5.0-trunk_Hk1-rbox-r3_bookworm_current_6.6.28_minimal.img.xz/file The one of this box itself is HK1 RBOX R3, the photo shows the pins for short to go to the Maskrom bootloader and UART pins: A working bootloader(supports dualboot) on this hardware for RKDevTool tool just in case: Loader.zip Please note that RKDevTool flashing utility only needs to flash the .img file with the bootloader, i.e. you need to unpack the .xz archive somewhere first (for ex. you can use 7-zip). -- Recommendations for installation on eMMC ---------------------------------------------------- For those who want to build Armbian themselves, here are the instructions: UPD: Added to images "f2fs-tools" package, added loader to support dualboot without touching the original Android(or other OS) image on eMMC - priority is given to SD-Card. Boot will be from SD-Card if there is on boot partition exist folder and file \boot.scr or extlinux\extlinux.conf - uboot(both: original Android and compiled for Armbian) searches for this path and file if it found this file, it will load from device which contains this file. mmc1(SD-Card) - first, mmc0(eMMC) - second. For correct priority loading it is necessary to replace the main bootloader which is in the archive Loader.zip - if you have an Android it is enough to flash only this bootloader as Loader at 0x0 offset using RKDevTool utility, the rest of the eMMC part should not be touched if the OS and settings we need are there. U-boot on eMMC must be original or Armbian and preinstalled at offset 0x4000. Instructions: (remember, uboot must be on eMMC (even the original Android or Armbian, i.e. if you erase the eMMC - the boot will not work) and this is relevant if you have installed the original MiniLoaderAll.bin, which does not support booting from SD-Card, but only from eMMC. Some TVBoxes may already have a bootloader that supports SD-card booting.). Feel free to test...
  20. I decided to learn something interesting and wanted to build an image for the Anbernic RG353P console. I checked that uboot has DTS files for my model in the main branch and that there is support in the Armbian kernel (vendor) for my hardware. Unfortunately, after building the image and uploading it to the console, nothing happens. The console has dual boot Linux/Android, Linux should boot from the SD card. Unfortunately, the system immediately loads Android and skips my card. I tried various options in board config, but to no avail. Do you have any idea what I might be doing wrong with the configuration? The board configuration is copied from the existing one for nanopi-r3s-lts. I found two things that didn't seem right to me: - by default, rootdev was configured to mmcblk0p1 in the bootscript, I think (I'm not 100% sure) that it should be mmcblk1p1 - no improvement - my DTB file (/boot/dtb/rockchip) is missing from the /boot partition - I manually mounted the partition and uploaded the file, but that didn't help either (I set the permissions etc. the same as for the other DTBs). I am pasting the configuration files. Thank you very much for any help and advice Board config: armbianEnv.txt verbosity=1 bootlogo=false console=both extraargs=cma=256M overlay_prefix=rk35xx fdtfile=rockchip/rk3566-anbernic-rg353p.dtb rootdev=UUID=8f8aa17e-0953-4c6c-b7bf-8cf0ebbf2b14 rootfstype=ext4

  23. I recently bought an orange pi plus and am using the armbian 6.12 server (https://dl.armbian.com/orangepi5-plus/Noble_current_server) I'm wanting to setup hardware acceleration for jellyfin but having trouble with the right steps. I'm using jellyfin inside docker on the orange pi inside armbian. I've found various tutorials but it seems like some of them reference things that no longer exist (like panfork seems to no longer be needed for latest mesa if I'm understanding correctly?), so wanting to see what I need to do to set this up. So it seems like I need to disable panthor and use mali instead, but I can't find in the armbian config menu the option to do that, and not sure if I know how to get the right mali. Any help would be greatly appreciated. armbianmonitor is at https://paste.armbian.com/nurazajipu I've seen these tutorials/posts for reference: * https://akashrajpurohit.com/blog/setup-jellyfin-with-hardware-acceleration-on-orange-pi-5-rockchip-rk3558/ * https://github.com/andyshrk/mesa/blob/panthor-v4/Panfrost-build-howto.md * https://forum.jellyfin.org/t-solved-hw-transcoding-rk3588-arch-not-working?pid=54084 * `https://forum.armbian.com/topic/49115-how-to-install-opencl-on-orangepi-5-plus/` * https://forum.jellyfin.org/t-rockchip-transcode-missing-dev-mali0
  24. I tried to build image for my vontar h618 box (PCB FX-H618-D4-V10, 4GB Samsung memory, 32GB eMMC). I've compiled it with KERNEL_BTF=no because I have limited RAM in Linux VM - 4+GB wasn't enough for BTF building. Board starts, LAN works OK, but WIFI wasn't present in device list. then I tried to update system - update is fetched but it seems like .dts is replaced, and HDMI and LAN didn't work at all. /proc/device-tree/name is empty. I tried to add "fdtfile=sun50i-h618-transpeed-8k618-t.dtb" in /boot/armbianEnv.txt - after reboot all remains same. how to specify right device tree at boot? UPD: I've changed line to "fdtfile=allwinner/sun50i-h618-transpeed-8k618-t.dtb", dtb file seems to be loaded, but nothing happened: systemd-shutdown[1]: Failed to set watchdog hardware timeout to 10min: Invalid argument systemd-shutdown[1]: Failed to set watchdog hardware timeout to 10min: Invalid argument reboot: Restarting system U-Boot SPL 2025.01-armbian-2025.01-S6d41-P65b3-H8869-Va3a9-Bb703-R448a-dirty (Oct 08 2025 - 13:44:47 +0300) DRAM:testing 32-bit width, rank = 2 read calibration failed! testing 32-bit width, rank = 1 DRAM:Store cfg DRAM:1st writing pattern DRAM:detecting column address bits detected 11 columns DRAM:restore cfg DRAM:reconfigure for all active rows DRAM:store cfg DRAM:2nd writing pattern DRAM:detecting row address bits detected 16 rows DRAM:restoring cfg DRAM:end of auto detect dram size MBUS port 0 cfg0 0100000d cfg1 00640080 MBUS port 1 cfg0 06000009 cfg1 01000578 MBUS port 2 cfg0 0200000d cfg1 00600100 MBUS port 3 cfg0 01000009 cfg1 00500064 MBUS port 4 cfg0 20000209 cfg1 1388157c MBUS port 5 cfg0 00640209 cfg1 00200040 MBUS port 6 cfg0 00640209 cfg1 00200040 MBUS port 8 cfg0 01000009 cfg1 00400080 MBUS port 11 cfg0 01000009 cfg1 00640080 MBUS port 14 cfg0 04000009 cfg1 00400100 MBUS port 16 cfg0 2000060d cfg1 09600af0 MBUS port 21 cfg0 0800060d cfg1 02000300 MBUS port 22 cfg0 01000009 cfg1 00640080 MBUS port 25 cfg0 0064000f cfg1 00200040 MBUS port 26 cfg0 20000209 cfg1 1388157c MBUS port 37 cfg0 01000009 cfg1 00400080 MBUS port 38 cfg0 00640209 cfg1 00200040 MBUS port 39 cfg0 20000209 cfg1 1388157c MBUS port 40 cfg0 00640209 cfg1 00200040 4096 MiB Trying to boot from MMC1 NOTICE: BL31: v2.10.14(debug):armbian NOTICE: BL31: Built : 13:42:51, Oct 8 2025 NOTICE: BL31: Detected Allwinner H616 SoC (1823) NOTICE: BL31: Found U-Boot DTB at 0x4a0a3760, model: Transpeed 8K618-T INFO: ARM GICv2 driver initialized INFO: Configuring SPC Controller INFO: PMIC: Probing AXP305 on RSB ERROR: RSB: set run-time address: 0x10003 INFO: Could not init RSB: -65539 INFO: BL31: Platform setup done INFO: BL31: Initializing runtime services INFO: BL31: cortex_a53: CPU workaround for erratum 855873 was applied INFO: BL31: cortex_a53: CPU workaround for erratum 1530924 was applied INFO: PSCI: Suspend is unavailable INFO: BL31: Preparing for EL3 exit to normal world INFO: Entry point address = 0x4a000000 INFO: SPSR = 0x3c9 INFO: Changed devicetree. ns16550_serial serial@5000000: pinctrl_select_state_full: uclass_get_device_by_phandle_id: err=-19 U-Boot 2025.01-armbian-2025.01-S6d41-P65b3-H8869-Va3a9-Bb703-R448a-dirty (Oct 08 2025 - 13:44:47 +0300) Allwinner Technology CPU: Allwinner H616 (SUN50I) Model: Transpeed 8K618-T DRAM: 4 GiB Core: 68 devices, 22 uclasses, devicetree: separate WDT: Not starting watchdog@30090a0 MMC: mmc@4020000: 0, mmc@4021000: 2, mmc@4022000: 1 Loading Environment from FAT... 25. @johlnx I have tried your recently built image from here Github Page and it booted fine. Boots fine. Wifi and Ethernet works. USB port only one is working. The blue one and I assume that that is wired for USB3. So I find this strange. I have still not touched the original eMMC. Here is the output from blkid. Note I am using a 16GB micro SD to boot and that is at /dev/mmcblk0 cyberhazard@x88pro:~$ blkid /dev/mmcblk0p1: LABEL="armbi_boot" UUID="d312472c-e5d3-4ef4-9a72-4d38e367fa7c" BLOCK_SIZE="4096" TYPE="ext4" PARTLABEL="bootfs" PARTUUID="c7a9a714-e024-406b-a111-dbf5782bfd06" /dev/mmcblk0p2: LABEL="armbi_root" UUID="ead9d55f-9f5d-4db3-84af-1b4c0807169c" BLOCK_SIZE="4096" TYPE="ext4" PARTUUID="6acc9d55-8827-45f0-bb5f-3b864952abfa" /dev/mmcblk1p11: UUID="da8b6f4f-89cc-4ed5-8bd6-aa0ef3b881e8" BLOCK_SIZE="4096" TYPE="ext4" PARTLABEL="metadata" PARTUUID="b85e0000-0000-4752-8000-0c2400004469" /dev/mmcblk1p10: UUID="790cebf2-3e31-464d-bf22-00bea1cb7eb6" BLOCK_SIZE="4096" TYPE="ext4" PARTLABEL="cache" PARTUUID="cb490000-0000-4c68-8000-157e000041fe" /dev/zram1: LABEL="log2ram" UUID="d0a97d5c-6f8c-41e3-863b-f7fdf23d9288" BLOCK_SIZE="4096" TYPE="ext4" /dev/zram0: UUID="334781b1-ee36-425e-819a-6796d4f4f36a" TYPE="swap" /dev/mmcblk1p3: PARTLABEL="trust" PARTUUID="71760000-0000-4537-8000-2f8f00000c08" /dev/mmcblk1p13: PARTLABEL="super" PARTUUID="94030000-0000-4f58-8000-234700004169" /dev/mmcblk1p1: PARTLABEL="security" PARTUUID="e9430000-0000-4579-8000-4da800000c18" /dev/mmcblk1p8: PARTLABEL="recovery" PARTUUID="8a190000-0000-457d-8000-74a10000796b" /dev/mmcblk1p6: PARTLABEL="vbmeta" PARTUUID="e02c0000-0000-496d-8000-062400006ffa" /dev/mmcblk1p4: PARTLABEL="misc" PARTUUID="8d390000-0000-472e-8000-3dc60000506d" /dev/mmcblk1p14: PARTLABEL="userdata" PARTUUID="134d0000-0000-4d40-8000-71540000188f" /dev/mmcblk1p2: PARTLABEL="uboot" PARTUUID="523b0000-0000-4275-8000-4a4700000883" /dev/mmcblk1p12: PARTLABEL="baseparameter" PARTUUID="e3430000-0000-4f7b-8000-3af900005bf5" /dev/mmcblk1p9: PARTLABEL="backup" PARTUUID="d31e0000-0000-4930-8000-76c000007aec" /dev/mmcblk1p7: PARTLABEL="boot" PARTUUID="a61c0000-0000-4708-8000-75db00002fb2" /dev/mmcblk1p5: PARTLABEL="dtbo" PARTUUID="f0710000-0000-412e-8000-58350000717b" Can I help you with something?
