  1. I ask for help if anyone has information about the image on the x96q TV set-top box, thank you in advance.
  2. Are there any chances to enable i2c? I use the tv-box as a 3d printing server (klipper) openvfb is working fine, and I also managed to configure the G-Code Shell Command to display the remaining print time. I want to connect the g-sensor via the i2c bus, please tell me if possible. klipper@transpeed-8k618-t:~$ dmesg | grep i2c [ 1.374462] mv64xxx_i2c 5002c00.i2c: can't get pinctrl, bus recovery not supported [ 1.683314] axp20x-i2c 2-0036: AXP20x variant AXP313a found [ 1.683791] axp20x-i2c 2-0036: AXP20X driver loaded klipper@transpeed-8k618-t:~$ sudo /sbin/i2cdetect -l klipper@transpeed-8k618-t:~$
  3. Good day to you))) I have a TV BOX TX9Pro. Chassis (Main Board): H616/H313mini84 V2.0 kernel 4.9.170 I would like to run one of the armbian builds on it. But I can’t figure out how to do this, here are the logs when starting the console... Is there support for this device? tell me what to do and how... Thanks in advance. 4. I'm curious to experiment with LLMs on an RK3566 TV Box. I managed to build a working Debian disto for it, but wasn't able to locate any NPU support in the kernel configuration. Anyone know how to build such a kernel for the RK3566, with support for the inbuilt NPU, or preferably, how to add build a NPU kernel module that can be linked-in? Any hints, suggestion or links greatly appreciated. GBEM 👽
  5. 1, serial port: open the box, on the backside, there are 3 hole, which is serail port, from right to left, they are TX, GND, RX, serial config is 150000n8. first log: we know the memory is 8GB Lp4x. Ddr version is V1.14. freq=324Mhz? which is from rkbin repo. next step try to use ctrl+c to stop auto boot.
  6. @samircobra these TV BOXes with Rockship are very robust and well documented here in Armbian. Once, I even caused a short circuit (a true hard-reset) in its memory system, and the board reverted to its original ROM. Regarding your question, follow the instructions for the classic Rockchip devices on the main Armbian page. The steps described there are detailed and clear. Good Luck
  7. Hello Community!!! I got this device https://linux-sunxi.org/Sunchip_SDK-758 I’m trying to boot armbian Armbian_23.11.1_Cubietruck_jammy_current_6.1.63_xfce_desktop.img Burned image with balena etcher, phoenixcard( invalid image), win32diskimager, and DD but same result…board won’t boot complaining about missing Ethernet If I insert the sd card and an usb key burned both with same image the board boots correctly. Only caveat is I need that usb because it’s the only one working so I can’t log in with keyboard and ethernet seems not to work properly so i can't SSH into it Is there a way to make it boot only on sdcard? additional info---->actually board is flashed with ubuntuone (kernel 3.4.709) it boots properly from nand i found this .FEX file here https://github.com/ade-ma/A20Notes might it be helpful? .....i'm getting crazy burning dozens of images finding the right one thnx in advance
  8. THIS IS NOT RECOMMENDED Bbut since I'm on edge anyway: I could not apply the patch as I did not have .dtsi file anywhere in /boot/dts/rockchip. So I tried to enable it manually by dts/dtb conversion, but that just did not work. So there is more to it than the patch alone. So I tried a different hackier route: I replaced the dtb with one from LibreElec, just to see if it would work, and it does: cd /tmp wget https://chewitt.libreelec.tv/testing/LibreELEC-RK3588.aarch64-12.90.1-nanopi-r6c.img.gz zcat LibreELEC-RK3588.aarch64-12.90.1-nanopi-r6c.img.gz > LibreELEC-RK3588.aarch64-12.90.1-nanopi-r6c.img sudo fdisk -l /tmp/LibreELEC-RK3588.aarch64-12.90.1-nanopi-r6c.img | grep img1 ## /tmp/LibreELEC-RK3588.aarch64-12.90.1-nanopi-r6c.img1 * 32768 1081343 1048576 512M c W95 FAT32 (LBA) sudo mount -o loop,offset=$((512*32768)) LibreELEC-RK3588.aarch64-12.90.1-nanopi-r6c.img /mnt sudo cp -p /boot/dtb/rockchip/rk3588s-nanopi-r6c.dtb /boot/dtb/rockchip/rk3588s-nanopi-r6c.dtb.orig sudo cp -p /mnt/rockchip/rk3588s-nanopi-r6c.dtb /boot/dtb/rockchip/rk3588s-nanopi-r6c.dtb sudo umount /mnt ## reboot the machine Hey, I got sound, yay! @The Tall Man Will this work on other boards ? Idk ymmv. But it has dtb's for orangepi-5/b/max/plus/ultra In short: the kernel has sound implemented since 6.15rc1, so its just the Device Tree that needs to be updated. Otherwise this would not have worked.
  9. @pochopsp - you can buy two tv-boxes of the same type at once from the same seller and they might have different hardware internally still - that is the reason why it is not prossible to provide really good images for tv boxes: the hardware is simply too random and often also low quality
  10. Good morning, I'm trying to remove the Android layer from my T95N Mini MX+ and install ArmBian. Can you help me please? Thank you for your reply
  11. I know an expert in rk3528, his name is @fensoft we are depending on him finding a weekend to dedicate to the community https://github.com/ilyakurdyukov/rk3528-tvbox he will help us by taking this repository and including it in armbian with a wonderful pull request I would like to buy this board and join the fun that you have, but my country has literally started an embargo on all TV boxes
  12. Hello! So i am newbie on this subject, and i want to try Home Assistant and for that, i need to install ARMBian on an Android Box and i have no idea yet how to do it. First i would like to know which version of ARMBian should i install on a R-TV Box S10? That box has a Amlogic S912 socket 3Gb RAM and 32Gb ROM. Which firmware should i install to achieve my goal and how to do it? Thanks in advance for all the help.
  13. Hi, After running armbian-install on S905x device it stopped booting. USB Burning Tool doesn't recognize the device, nothing. 15. Per the install instructions on this site, if you have ever booted a different distribution then your box will be incompatible with the Armbian build. Although it is generally using coreelec builds that will do this. I don't know about the libreelec builds. Also you need to provide a lot more information about what you are doing. There are a number of steps in installing armbian on a TV box and you haven't specified any of the steps you performed. Finally debugging boot issues often requires that you find the debug serial console connection on the board and hook up a usb uart reader to get at the boot messages.

  17. Hello, I have recently found two android TV boxes and am interested in getting Armbian running on them versus the very deprecated Android versions they have. Doing a little research, I've found that they're MXQ EasyView TV models and run on ARM processors similar to my Le Potatoes that I've been playing around with for a few months. I've found their webpage, and it's pretty comical. Unfortunately, they don't list the exact ARM processor and/or specs and just looking up MXQ results in newer models only and Easyview barely anything except the mentioned site. https://easyviewtv.com/homepage.html Now, there does look like there was a project at one point, but unfortunately it is seemingly cancelled? The websites hosting it are no longer available. I was wondering if anybody came across these and successfully got linux running on them or know of any ways to get them rooted? They'd be fantastic mini-pcs to accompany my Le Potatoes.
  18. @pochopsp - as you contacted me via message directly, let me respond here: i can only repeat what @SteeMan already said - you can either do your own research and experiments if you get some newer u-boot built and working (which will be a lot of learning and effort and can also fail in the end) or you accept that running from emmc will not work on your box and continue to use an sd card (which should work nearly as good as running from internal storage) - there is no easy tutorial to get it working, either it works out of the box (as the box is closer to one of the supported and tested ones) or you have to find your own way to get it working with those tv boxes ...
  19. Hi everyone, I’m trying to run Armbian on my old Mecool BB2 Pro TV box but I can’t get it to boot at all – the device always goes straight into Android. Device specs: Model: Mecool BB2 Pro CPU: Amlogic S912 (octa-core Cortex-A53) GPU: ARM Mali-T820MP3 RAM: 3GB DDR3 eMMC: 16GB Connectivity: 2× USB, HDMI, AV, SPDIF, Ethernet Gigabit Wi-Fi/Bluetooth: (chip unknown, maybe AP6255) What I tried so far: Burned several Armbian images with Etcher and DD in Linux. Tried both SD card and USB stick. Tested multiple DTBs: gxm_q200_3g, gxm_q201_3g, p212_3g, and some generic ones. Formatted SD card partition as FAT16 as suggested in some guides. Flashed u-boot.bin manually using dd with byte skipping (e.g. bs=1 skip=444 seek=444 conv=fsync). CoreELEC partially boots, so the box can boot from external media. With Armbian, however, it never even attempts to boot – it just goes straight into Android. What I’m looking for: Confirmation if Armbian can run on this device at all. Which DTB (if any) is recommended for this specific model. Any tips for debugging why Armbian is skipped but CoreELEC boots. If anyone has managed to run Armbian on this box, I’d really appreciate your guidance. Thanks in advance!
  20. Ok, figured it out My first mistake was not copying the proper u-boot file to the /boot folder cause the folder didn't exist when I flashed it with Balena Second, this box has a weird set of hardware that had issues with CoreELEC and even the Official Android upgrade, hence bricking into the Android dead robot and allowing me to force an upgrade with the official Android that fixed the partitions so I could run Armbian Third, the correct DTB for this box was meson-gxm-q200.dtb that makes everything works (attached a hw info file for future references) As of the moment, the Armbian is working perfectly. SSH works and it's displaying everything correctly. Not going to mess with Wi-Fi cause I don't really care about it. Again, thank you so much SteeMan for the help, the instructions and everything. I'll upload the hw_info and the URL for both "official" Android 7.1.1 upgrades (PC and SD flash images) for anyone to find cause it took me around a week to find those. 22. Hello guys! I have a T95Z Plus TV BOX with 3GB RAM, 32GB ROM, and an arm S912 CPU. I can run Armbian just fine from the SD card, but when I try to install it on the eMMC, I get an error message saying something like, "You're already running from eMMC, or the eMMC was not found." And, obviously, I'm not running from eMMC, so it seems like the system just isn't detecting it. I did some research, and it seems like there might be different eMMC manufacturers for the same T95Z Plus model. So, I might need to adjust the "Max frequency" parameter in the .DTB file for the T95Z Plus in order for Armbian to recognize the eMMC on my device. Does that sound right? If so, where should I start? Should I randomly change that parameter, or is there a table of parameters I can use to try different values until it works? Thanks!
  23. thank you so much for the link, after trying some of the older tinkerboard .deb archives from there I was able to install one that didn't have the two missing deps eventually and, lo and behold, I could even feel the accelerated desktop from the login window, even before confirming it with the much snappier webgl aquarium test, that jumped from about one fps to almost 60 there are still some kinks, like h264ify being installed but not doing squat (youtube is still av1 and hangs the whole system), but I'll take what I got for now as for the SOC being 2017....I'm fully aware that like everything Asus makes, it becomes e-waste after 2 years, I could probably try to flip this board online for $1 and no one would buy it, but I still believe it should be enough for me to stream video from my NAS on my secondary TV using 5-15W, kind of like those crappy Android sticks that plug into HDMI and an extra USB port I have yet to decide if my next SBC should be a rk3588 board or just bite the bullet and get some N100 SBC that's probably cheaper (I live in Europe, Orange Pi 5 probably goes for more than a used PS5 with all the taxes), can run anything and won't be forever stuck on whatever this year's trending distro is
