  1. Hi there I have a banana pi M1 and I have installed Armbian on it. The HDMI output / Display work fine if I have HDMI connected to the HDMI port of BPi and monitor/tv is turned on before Armbian booting process starts. However if I don't have HDMI connected before boot process or Monitor/Tv is not turned on then I don't see the display if I connects the HDMI or turned on Monitor later. It is a problem for me because when I want to connect to display to already booted OS. Does anyone faced this behavior? Please advise.
  2. I got that stability issues on my banana pi m1, and notice that the last kernel available on armbian still the 4.14.18. Today I also run apt upgrade on raspberry pi 3 and it installed the kernel 4.14.30 that stop the ipsec vpn working, the same as in 4.14.18 used on armbian. I feel some frustration on the latest kernel updates, and wondering if anyone have some info about the next kernel update that solve this issues. Do you advise me to change to nightly builds to get a new kernel to test? สมัครufabet Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
  3. Hello guys, do you know what might cause this error, it seems my "smart home" controller is not booting up anymore. In the last 2 weeks it happent again to not display any webpage while accessing it by IP, also the SSH was not working, all leds ware blinking like usually are, like there was normal activity, but it didn't respond to any request, only the ping was working, anything else was not (apache, samba, ssh). I turned it off by long-pressing the power button, it booted up, showing this warning "warning bad CRC - using default enviroment" and it passed by, showing the armbian logo and a blinking cursor, but that's it, nothing more. I think it is self restarting now like every 10 minutes. Anyu ideea what might be wrong? Is it the HDD ? (The OS is on the SATA HDD) If it's the HDD and it will still be accessible on another machine, do you guys know if there are tools to copy the entire disk to a new one ? Thank you.
  4. I can't get wifi rt5370 working at banana pi m1 on Ubuntu xenial default desktop. dmesg show: phy1 -> rt2x00lib_request_firmware: Error - Failed to request Firmware. Looks like modules(rt2x00usb,rt2800lib,rt2800usb) are loadede but wifi still don't work.
  5. SBC is banana pi M1 I tried the banana pi at church today, things went great as for the Libreoffice impress presentations but it was hard to navigate to menus because the banana's resolution was set to 1920X1080p. Everything was too small in the projector, we need something like 1280X1024 or 800X600. I tried `a10disp changehdmimodeforce 4` to change it to 720P, on the projector but display became unstable and I had to reboot to get it back. We have two modes for projector, VGA (HDMI->VGA converter cable) or plain HDMI. Today I tried the VGA but we can also do HDMI. Please help. Thanks.
  6. Hello, I use the BananaPi M1 as network bridge with tranparent http proxy and filter with 2nd ethernet (USB adapter with AX88179 Gigabit Ethernet). But since latest update with kernel update, the network seemce to be go down often or the sytem is going bad. I can't find any solution and need some help. If you need some more information, please tell me what I should send. Thank you! Edit: The system is stuck on reboot... have to put of the power.
  7. I have installed the latest stable Ubuntu desktop Legacy on BPI M1. The OS boot directly into the GUI. I am planning to use xrdp to remote desktop into OS from windows machine on same network. So I think it will be a good idea that BPI to boot directly into console to save some memory. If I need GUI then I can remotely connect from a windows machine. Is it a good approach? If yes, then how to configure to boot into console with minimum memory footprint.
  8. I have tried to set up a Banana Pi M1+ as a wireless router (installed Armbian_5.35_Bananapi_Ubuntu_xenial_next_4.13.16 ). Existing set up and testing environment are as following: Now, my android phone can access the internet and the Banana Pi works as expected. However, when I checked the file /var/log/syslog of the x86 router, I found : Jan 20 00:12:51 router86 kernel: [25688.378214] IPv4: martian source 104.17.115.27 from 10.111.103.154, on dev br0 Jan 20 00:12:51 router86 kernel: [25688.378253] ll header: 00000000: 00 e0 4c 68 12 86 02 d4 09 42 7c 37 08 00 ..Lh.....B|7.. 9. Hi, I have a problem with an update notification that seems to be permanent. The following lines always appear when I log onto my system: Welcome to ARMBIAN 5.36 user-built Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 4.13.16-sunxi System load: 0.71 0.63 0.62 Up time: 1 day Local users: 2 Memory usage: 29 % of 995MB IP: 192.168.2.103 CPU temp: 42°C Usage of /: 60% of 15G [ 0 security updates available, 2 updates total: apt upgrade ] Last check: 2017-11-26 00:0012 After sudo apt-get update and upgrade the lines telling me that 2 updates are available are still there even if no updates were performed. Where can I find out what these 2 updates are?
  10. Hi, I am running armbian 4.11.6-sunxi with xfce4 on a Banana Pi M1. I need to login automatically without having to choose a session before login to the xserver. I am achieving the autologin OK but can't get rid of the session request . How can I achieve autologin complete with new session? Thanks for helping if you have an answer.
  11. Hi, I'm Glego and this is my first post. I was just fiddling around with my old BananaPI M1 and M1+, and stumbled upon ARMbian, which has great appraisals on the Bananapi forum. I'm creating a cluster of various SBC's and thought ARMbian is the OS to go. Unfortunatly I had an issue when setting up Docker and wanted to share the resolution for future reference. However I couldn't find the root cause, so if any expert would be able to comment on why this is happening, I will be happy the do the tests again. Cheers, Glego Issue After installing docker-ce, the service is not starting: docker.service start request repeated too quickly, refusing to start. When manually starting the docker daemon it mentioned: 'overlay' not found as a supported filesystem on this host. I've resolved the issue by restarting the host, but I wonder why this issue occurred in the first place... Docker installation root@bpi2:~# apt-get install docker-ce Reading package lists... 12. Maybe a discussed problem. Using Armbian Jessie on Banana Pi M1. Using USB keyboard and Mouse. Can use usb wifi adapter but presently unused. Power supply standard PS for Banana Pi normal output from lsusb and lsusb -t But it won't read files from usb key. Why ? can you help?
  13. Hi, when I connect my external HDD - an Icy Box IB-RD2253-U31 (http://www.raidsonic.de/products/external_cases/soho_raid/index_en.php?we_objectID=3239) - to my Bananapi M1, running ARMBIAN 5.31 (stable Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 4.11.6-sunxi) the hard disk is not found. This is regardless of the HDD setup chosen, at least I tried with the two disks inside configured as JBOD as well as RAID1. After connecting the USB HDD, dmesg doesnt show any output, lsblk doesnt show it. Is there anything I can do about it to get it working, is it a firmware issue?
  14. Hi, I am running Armbian Jessie (4.11.6-sunxi) on Banana Pi M1. For reading and writing SD cards I use linux dd cmd on another box. I do not have a Windows system. My question is this: My SD card is a 16Gb device. With gparted I can reduce the size of the system to a partition that would easily fit on a 4Gb device. But when writing the .img file dd will still see and write an image of 16 Gb There must be a way to make an image that can be written to and booted from a smaller device to save resources on the backup disk. Can anyone point me in the right direction ?
  15. I am failing creating a bootable SDcard. I download latest image and flash it using etcher. Everything goes smoothly. But when the SD is inserted in the device and the device is powered on, nothing happens (no video output, no LEDs blinking, no network LEDs blinking). I am facing this issue with bananapi M1 (and pine64, but I need to get bananapi working only). This is not SDcard issue, since other distros are running smoothly. This is not PSU issue, since other distros are running smoothly. I was testing Debian Jessie Next 4.9 and 4.11.
  16. The sytem acted a bit wierd, so I rebooted it. Since the moment, the server did not launch, rebooting itself again and again. I edited boot script to get more informations, and this is the moment, where the sytem gets stucked before it reboots (I have panic set to 180, so this screen is visible for around 3 mins). Banana pi M1 armbian 5.14 installed on SDcard and HDD This is not PSU error, since other distros are running smoothly. This is not SDcard error, since I dded this SDcard to another and tested it.
  17. Hi All, My first topic here, I own a Banana Pi M1 and I have just switched from bananian. Everything looks great in armbian and most of the things are just working, I just miss zsh from bananian but that was easy to fix. However I use my server for backups using ecryptfs (so I can encrypt/decrypt folders on demand) and I'm unable to mount any ecryptfs directory. My configuration: Banana PI M1 running Debian Wheezy mainline kernel 4.4.3 (just installed) Things I've done: Install ecryptfs-utils (installs ok and tools are available) Try to mount a ecryptfs directory: I get the message "unknown filesystem type ecryptfs" Try to load as a module (just in case): modprobe ecryptfs = FATAL, module ecryptfs not found cat /boot/config-4.4.3-sunxi I can't find anything related to ecryptfs Also had a look at /proc/filesystems and ecryptfs is not there (should be automatically supported by kernel) lsmod reports sun4i_ss and fuse loaded (I thought it could be a problem related to sun4i_ss -security system cryptographic accelerator- I've read in the forums that ss is buggy) Any ideas? Anybody using ecryptfs?
  18. It looks like there is no hardware accelerated video decoding/encoding on the Banana PI M1 currently (on the server build). Is there any chance to enable it?
  19. Hi, i just updated my bpi and could not unlock my encrypted luks volumes on a sata hdd. 20. Hello, I've just switched from bananian to armbian (as many others here as I've seen), and successfully finished migrating everything. I use the Banana as a little home server, NAS, sane/cups printer sharer and home cloud. I want to use docker on it, but I'm finding some difficulties to make it run. I'm currently on 4.9.12-sunxi. I've tried installing docker from the ubuntu repo but it doesn't seem to work. I've seen some topics about building a custom kernel for this, is this necessary? Did someone managed to make docker run? Thanks.
  21. Hello, I run Armbian on Banapi M1 (use it as samba file server with OpenMediaVault) and recently after apt-get upgrade and reboot the Bananapi is stuck in boot loop. I have tried the following to eliminate possibility that it's a HW failure: booted into fresh Armbian image with different SD card: success -> the board is OK dumped whole Armbian installation as image from the original SD card, overwrote it with fresh Armbian image and booted with it: success -> the SD card is OK wrote the dumped Armbian installation image onto a different SD card and booted from it: stuck in boot loop wrote the dumped Armbian installation image onto a second different SD card and booted from it: stuck in boot loop thus I believe the problem must be in the Armbian installation itself, not in HW I don't know how to get hold of the boot messages since I never get to the login prompt but I've at least filmed the whole boot on the monitor. The system always reboots right after the following lines: [ 4.681580] systemd-udevd[144]: starting version 215 [ 5.847373] device-mapper: uevent: version 1.0.3 [ 5.849275] device-mapper: ioctl: 4.35.0-ioctl (2016-06-23) initialised: dm-devel@redhat.com Since I have dump of the SD card I mounted the image on a different machine to have access to the filesystem. I reconciled the filmed boot loop with the armhwinfo.log content of previous boots and it seems the following lines are missing compared to successful boots: ... [ 4.237054] mmc0: host does not support reading read-only switch, assuming write-enable [ 4.239588] mmc0: new high speed SDHC card at address b368 [ 4.240515] mmcblk0: mmc0:b368 SD 7.52 GiB [ 4.242469] mmcblk0: p1 ... and the system never reaches the following point: ... What I conclude out of this is that the system has trouble remounting the root filesystem on the SD card (though the SD card is physically OK and the system at least can read the /boot part out of the SD). Unfortunately I have no clue where to look to see why the root filesystem can't be mounted Could anyone point me in the right direction? I tried looking into things like apt-get history log and there are several core looking packages that got upgraded recently (like linux-dtb-next-sunxi, linux-u-boot-bananapi-next, others...) but I don't know which ones could cause such problems. Thanks for any hints! T.
  22. Hi all. I have a problem with network performance. I have a Banana Pi M1+ with Debian Jessie 8.7, kernel 4.9.10-sunxi. I have already read these threads http://forum.lemaker.org/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=5802&highlight=performance http://forum.lemaker.org/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=12167 and based on them, I applied some changes. I added these settings is my /etc/sysctl.conf net.core.rmem_max = 8738000 net.core.wmem_max = 6553600 net.ipv4.tcp_rmem = 8192 873800 8738000 net.ipv4.tcp_wmem = 4096 655360 6553600 vm.min_free_kbytes = 65536 net.ipv4.tcp_window_scaling = 1 net.ipv4.tcp_timestamps = 1 net.ipv4.tcp_sack = 1 net.ipv4.tcp_no_metrics_save = 1 and these ones in my /etc/sysfs.conf devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/ondemand/up_threshold = 25 devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/ondemand/sampling_down_factor = 10 devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/ondemand/io_is_busy = 1 This is my /etc/cpufrequtils ENABLE=true MIN_SPEED=528000 MAX_SPEED=1104000 GOVERNOR=ondemand I executed a first test with Helios Lan Test. Then I tried to apply these settings echo 1 > /proc/irq/$(cat /proc/interrupts | grep ahci-sunxi | cut -f 1 -d ":" | tr -d " ")/smp_affinity echo 2 > /proc/irq/$(cat /proc/interrupts | grep eth0 | cut -f 1 -d ":" | tr -d " ")/smp_affinity echo 2 > /sys/class/net/eth0/queues/rx-0/rps_cpus echo 2 > /sys/class/net/eth0/queues/tx-0/xps_cpus and execute a second test. Finally I tried to modify the samba configuration adding these setting in the [global] section restarting samba after changes: socket options = TCP_NODELAY IPTOS_LOWDELAY SO_RCVBUF=65536 SO_SNDBUF=65536 use sendfile = yes aio read size = 16384 aio write size = 16384 deadtime = 30 but the final result doesn't change. This image shows the result of three different tests, corresponding to the different settings. Consider that the shared folder W:\temp is on a SATA HDD 3.5" (WD RE4 1TB) connected to the SATA port of the Banana PI. I repeated the same test on the old SheevaPlug (with Gigabit ethernet), but in this case the shared folder is a SD Card folder. Here the result. Finally I did the same test connecting to another PC with Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, and this is the result. Why I have those very poor write values? Thanks Matteo
  23. Hi! Banana pi m1, armbian Ubuntu Xenial Legacy 3.4.113, bluetooth usb dongle. 24. Hiya, Using a Banana Pi M1 as a factory production tester in China, running Armbian Mainline 4.6.3. Works fine here; never had the problem they're reporting, but they're saying: a) after a certain amount (unspecified) of time the boards crash and get stuck in a reboot loop displaying screen as shown in JPEG - "kernel panic not syncing - Attemped to kill init! exitcode=0x000000b" b ) rewriting the SD card image (from one I provided; a 4GB pre-configured image) fixes it (until it happens again) c) Only useful thing I can get from the photo attached is that the stack trace in the image (which is all I have to go on btw; trying to get a copy of the bad SD card now) indicates CPU0 is in "gic_handle_irq"; assume this is handling an IRQ from the NIC (gigabit on BPi) but it's not clear to me why that would happen (the boards do have an active wired LAN connection, don't know if it's 100 or 1000mbps) d) Obviously "SD card corruption" is an answer but it's never ever happened on my end and (for example) the fsck is shown passing e) The app this thing runs is not writing much to the SD card at all; the image I sent them occupies something like a 1.5G (it's a vanilla mainline Armbian server image with a few tens of megs of extra packages and stuff). I don't know the SD card brand they're using. I use fairly cheapo 4GB SDs on my board (because I like to be able to pull off the image and I don't want it to be huge from say a 32G card); I send them this image (once I'd set it up) in a zip that was just under 1G. I believe they then wrote that onto 8G cards (not sure). I don't know if the image will have expanded it's filesystem to their SD size or if the resizefs only happens on firstboot. Any suggestions to figure this out and prevent it happening would be very welcome, thank you! If I can get them to upload their broken image to me I'll be able to do more poking at it. Cheers, much appreciate your time. DrTune.
  25. Hi, I did read a lot about temperature and power consumption on this forum. Most is about bad parameters for the Orange Pi H3 boards. I use armbian 5.25 stable with 3.4.113-sun7i kernel. On both i run this same version, the only difference is that i use an other script.bin on the orangepi. The script.bin who is in the distrubution. I dont use a heatsink on both. I noticed the following On the Orange Pi: Load1 is max 0.50 with 2 values of 1.00, avg 0.20-0.25 Load15 is between 0.08 and 0.14 The temperature is between 49 degrees and 52 degrees Celcius The PMU current is between 400 and 800 mA PMU Consumption 2000-4000 mW On the BananaPi: Load1 is max 0.50 with 2 spikes of 0.75 and 2 of 1.5, avg 0.3 - 0.35 Load15 is between 0.14 and 0.16 The temperature is between 38 en 42 PMU current is between 250 and 500 mA PMU Consumption 1200-2900 mW I see that the Bananapi has a little more load, but has a much better powerconsumption (lower) and a much better PMU temperature. My question, which variables do i have to tweak in script.bin to get the orangepi, more or less the same as the bananapi. I ask this because i'm running tests on different boards: I have tested the H3 (OrangePi plus with no heatsink-with version armbian 5.20)on duration with a few programs (see below)and after 2 days 8 hours and 14 min all froze (no input possible) the same after 1 day 7 hours and 58 min I have run one test with the Orange Pi A20 - it stopped after 7 days 1 hour and 56 min. Now im testing with both the Orange Pi A20 and the BananaPi M1 (A20) (I want a board to run day and night - year after year) But i'm a little bit worried about the high temp of the Orange Pi (PS i have ordered heat sinks, but i think this will only lower the temp with about 3 degrees) Just for heaving an idea from the load. What have i installed: -task-lxee-desktop -task-xfce-desktop -xfce -xfce-goodies -icewaesel -samba-common -gvfs-backends -python (2.7) + pyserial -rrdtool -nginx -armbianmonitor -rpimonitor -arduino 1.6.1 on both there is a arduino-leonardo - which gets its power from the pi running: 2 sessions of vncserver a webbrowser nginx an indexpage which is build every 1 min rrdtool building every 5 min 30 graphs, and 4 new html-pages a read from ttyACM0 continously by python and a write to 4 rrdtool databases every 5 min. and a test every min if pyhonscript is running. Thanks Erik Checked script.bin The script.bin is mostly equal. The dvfs_table is. So i think the difference is a hardware thing. So i can do nothing about the greater power consumption. Can only hope Shenzhen Xunlong Software CO.,Limited will do something about this on future boards. [dvfs_table] max_freq = 912000000 min_freq = 720000000 LV_count = 7 LV1_freq = 1008000000 LV1_volt = 1450 LV2_freq = 912000000 LV2_volt = 1425 LV3_freq = 864000000 LV3_volt = 1350 LV4_freq = 720000000 LV4_volt = 1250 LV5_freq = 528000000 LV5_volt = 1150 LV6_freq = 312000000 LV6_volt = 1100 LV7_freq = 144000000 LV7_volt = 1050
