  1. Gents, installed Armbian Bullseye successfully to my Banana Pi M2 Berry. In second step i moved the OS to my attached 2,5 WD RED Sata Harddrive. This was easily possible with the command "sudo nand-sata-install". But now, i see that my /var/log is full, because its located in ZRAM. root@BananaPiM2Berry:/etc/systemd/system# df -h Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on udev 431M 0 431M 0% /dev tmpfs 100M 11M 90M 11% /run /dev/sda1 687G 1,3G 651G 1% / tmpfs 500M 0 500M 0% /dev/shm tmpfs 5,0M 4,0K 5,0M 1% /run/lock tmpfs 500M 0 500M 0% /tmp /dev/mmcblk0p1 1,7G 1,3G 385M 77% /media/mmcboot /dev/zram1 49M 48M 0 100% /var/log tmpfs 100M 0 100M 0% /run/user/1000 As you can see i hve more than 650 GB avail in my root parttiion on /dev/sda1. But how can i setup /var/log to wirte on /dev/sda1 ? i believed to find it in /etc/fstab, but its not there. # <file system> <mount point> <type> <options> <dump> <pass> tmpfs /tmp tmpfs defaults,nosuid 0 0 UUID=7fe45d82-d362-438a-9b7a-baa3678fcab4 /media/mmcboot ext4 defaults,noatime,commit=600,errors=remount-ro,x-gvfs-hide 0 1 /media/mmcboot/boot /boot none bind 0 0 UUID=614c4feb-de66-4b2c-a046-ce72aaf2e600 / ext4 defaults,noatime,commit=600,errors=remount-ro,x-gvfs-hide 0 1 Right now, the device is unuseable, i cant even install system updates, since no more logs can be written. Since i have so much storage avail on my HDD, i wonder how to move /var/log there... Greatings Schlotze
  2. I am new to this scene and I was just wondering what the difference is between Sid and Kinetic...
  3. Hi all, I'm working with a BPI-P2 board. I installed the last Armbian version for BPI-M2 as the two boards are basically the same except the RJ45 connector and the eMMC. I installed it on an SD card, and everythig worked perfectly. Now I need to put the OS on the eMMC and then completely remove the SD card, but I'm struggling. The default Armbian for BPI-M2 is not intended to support eMMC, so I'm not surprised that with this version the eMMC dosn't show up. So I tried to modify the dtb and enable the eMMC nodes, and then reboot. Here the changes I made: mmc@1c10000 { reg = < 0x1c10000 0x1000 >; pinctrl-names = "default"; pinctrl-0 = < 0x0d >; resets = < 0x03 0x08 >; reset-names = "ahb"; interrupts = < 0x00 0x3d 0x04 >; status = "okay"; #address-cells = < 0x01 >; #size-cells = < 0x00 >; compatible = "allwinner,sun7i-a20-mmc"; clocks = < 0x03 0x17 0x03 0x4a 0x03 0x4c 0x03 0x4b >; clock-names = "ahb\0mmc\0output\0sample"; vmmc-supply = < 0x0b >; vqmmc-supply = < 0x0b >; mmc-pwrseq = < 0x0e >; bus-width = < 0x04 >; non-removable; phandle = < 0x44 >; mmc2-8bit-pins { pins = "PC5\0PC6\0PC8\0PC9\0PC10\0PC11\0PC12\0PC13\0PC14\0PC15\0PC16"; function = "mmc2"; drive-strength = < 0x1e >; bias-pull-up; allwinner,drive = < 0x03 >; phandle = < 0x54 >; }; Sadly this wasn't enought, and I still can't see the eMMC. I read a lot of threads, but I've not been able to find a solution. I guess that I have some problems with the uBoot or with the drivers not present in the kernel. I'm quite new to Linux, and I've never recompiled a kernel or a uBoot. Please, can someone help me? Thank you!
  4. hallo, for bananapim2 i can build jammy legacy and current, cli and xfce, on my pc-ubuntu-jammy. I just coppy bananapim2.eos to bananapim2.conf, removed box86 files while my pc-ubuntu-jammy seems have problems with build-script to download addition softaware from some git or ppa. Current-jammy goes off on boot on "starting kernel", but if i build with linux-sunxi-legacy.config renamed to linux-sunxi-current.config, boot is successful. On all builds i cannt becomme LAN over eth0, but wifi is ok. I can see eth0 and wlan on Networkmanager(cli too) and ifconfig. I tryed to disable all broadcom drivers i knew thru blacklisting, but wifi is working. Configuring NetworkManager and network/interfaces and armbian-config made no changes. There is a text file in boot folder on SD named "first_run.template" or something. This file if configured like in description, should make eth0 to be LAN connection if renamed to .txt. But this way not worked. What i can find by googling, it seems that this board can have just one LAN connection: eth or wlan, one should be disabled. Maybe there is any way to configure it thru boot.* or *.Env file? Or maybe there can be two *.dtb files: one for run board with wlan and another for eth? Can someone configure *.dtb file for eth? Best regards.
  5. Hi, I've been using Armbian with Banana Pi M2 for a while and I am very satisfied with performance. Recently I noticed that Teamviewer has been developed for ARM systems, officially only for Raspbian but it seems few people had success running it on Orange Pi too. I followed installation instructions and succeeded however once I connect to it I see only black screen. Did anyone else manage to get it working? Below is link to original thread: https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=144608
  6. I know it's not an officially supported board, but it's been working really well so far, so I'll give it a shot. Today I updated my kernel to 5.9.0-sunxi (coming from 5.9.0-rc7-sunxi) and after rebooting the (wired) network was dead. Everything looked fine, ethernet driver is loaded, interfaces were up and had IP addresses, but packets were not being sent. Pinging anything but the Banana Pi itself says "destination host unreachable". Routes were set and looked correct - even tho they should not even be necessary as I was pinging the gateway. tcpdump on eth0 showed nothing at all, almost as if the kernel doesn't know where to send the packets. Anyone else having the same problem or any ideas what else I could try? I did get the system back online by downgrading linux-image-dev-sunxi and linux-dtb-dev-sunxi, but that does not seem to me like a future proof solution.
  7. Hello, guys, has anyone ever faced issues with SPI controller on BananaPi M2 ? I am having a weird issue which is confirmed by at least 2 peripherals: Waveshare 3.5 LCD and NRF24 wireless chip. The data incoming from MISO is always shifted by 1 bit to the left. , i.e. reading STATUS register of NRF24 gives 0x1C instead of expected value 0xE. The same story with other registers. Saleae logic analyzer is always showing correct pictures !!! See attached image as an example of reading STATUS register from NRF24: master is sending 0x07 and receiving 0x0E (14). I have tweaked byte rate and other parameters - no result. I have finally tried to connect using the bitbang SPI gpio driver and it worked as expected. Does this mean the A31s SPI is broken? It is hard to believe in that... Or it is still a kernel (sun6i SPI driver or whatever) issue ? I am using Kernel 4.13 and 4.14. Thanks.
  8. I have banana pi m2+ with ampak AP6212. Install Armbian 5.75 with Linux kernel 4.19.20 Driver on wi-fi brcmfmac. 13. Hello, i have a old Banana Pi M2 with the current Armbian in use. I use the green LED with Heartbeat Signal. Today i try to connect with putty but after Username and PW nothing happen. Samba Service work normal. Then i have look at the Banana and the green LED was lightning constant and no heartbeat blinking. Maybe the trouble was because in a few meters distance sawed with a circular saw. Has perhaps caused interference or power fluctuations. No idea and maybe just coincidence. I have been using Armbian for only two days. Previously, the manufacturers ran Distribution for two years. I have Google and found out that the Banana has software Watchdog and i can install that daemon service. What will be the best watchdog option for reaction for scenario today with no ssh login and no heartbeat Signal but working samba and working ftp?
  14. Hello everyone. I would like to create an update system, which via a link on a web page, will check on an ftp server and if a version is newer, download the img file and install it. it is the installation part that poses me big problems. to write an img on the sd we must use the command dd if = ..... of = ...... But since the sd is used it does not work. I had thought of going through berryboot but a priori it is not functional on the m2. If someone has an idea thank you
  15. Hy everybody, I have a fiber connexion at home. for my work, i tried to connect my Bananapi to my ONT (Optical Network Termination). My provider, Orange use pppoe with the vlan 832 for Internet. So i have installed the Packages vlan, ppp, pppoe. In /etc/modules i have added 8021q. in /etc/network/interfaces : auto eth0 eth0.832 ppp0 iface eth0 inet manual iface eth0.832 inet manual iface ppp0 inet ppp provider ft_fibre I have created /etc/ppp/peers/ft_fibre like this : pty "/usr/sbin/pppoe -I eth0.832 -T 80 -m 1452" noipdefault hide-password lcp-echo-interval 20 lcp-echo-failure 3 connect /bin/true noauth persist mtu 1492 usepeerdns defaultroute noaccomp default-asyncmap plugin rp-pppoe.so eth0.832 user "fti/blabla" instead "fti/blablabla" i have put the right username. and for /etc/ppp/chap-secrets and /etc/ppp/pap-secrets i have added : "fti/blabla" * "votrepassword" with right username and password. After a reboot, i launch my pppoe configuration like this : pon ft_fibre And it doesn't work. 16. When connecting my BPI-M2 the internet connects Wifi, so that there is no network cable connected to it, an interface "eth0: avahi" appears, so I do not have internet access. Can anyone help?
  17. Hy, Someone could say me if PPP is in the Kernel natively? Thanks
  18. Hello Someone can say me if the Transfert RAte is limited at 300mo or like the Bananapi m64 a true Gigabit. Thanks
  19. Hello, I recently purchased a Banana Pi M2, and downloaded the latest desktop image to my SanDisk 32gb MicroSD card. Everything boots-up. However, the only interface that seems to be able to get onto the internet properly is wlan0 (Wireless). Ethernet, regardless of DHCP (registers properly) or Static does not seem to route properly. For example, I am not able to ping or SSH the device from another PC, and the Pi (itself) cannot ping/access any local IPv4 address as well. Internet access fails, and points to DNS not working properly (even though servers are specified). Tried many different methods, including taking management/control away from "NetworkManager", but have not helped at all. Network switch is good, and other devices can access the internet with no problems. I ultimately need to get the eth0 interface to work as my primary so i can completely disable wlan0. Was purchased because it supports gigabit.
  20. Dear all... I run om my BPI M2 a minecraft server, fo my kids. Works great only my 8gb sd cart is not big enough for all the plugins my kids wil have.. They love the game, and are very proud to all there friends... And i am there smart DAD that can make all this stuff.......:-) I love to see my kids smiling, and playing on my board... Is there a option to enlarge the sd with a extra USB so i can place on the USB some plugins? Or is there a other way to enlarge the memory on the board? I see in the config a option to move something to a other device only i do not now how this working. If this option is a solution for me.. please a little bit help?... Hope there is something possible. Thanks! Dombo
  21. Dear All, I build a minecraft server for my 2 lovely kids,,[ and a little bit for myself ] on my Bpi M2 http://www.banana-pi.org/m2.html I run armbian on the board, and i am very happy with this OS> 64gb sd class 10 U3 in it... I read in the documentation that i can give the CPU a boost, with Performance tweaks.. https://docs.armbian.com/ Only i can not let the server crash, so i hope there is some on that can help me with the tweak. I do not now how i can make this tweak and i need a stable server, so i think i cannot go to the highest settings. Only what i say... no experience with this tweak. Is this a tweak that can make my server faster.? [ is there really a different s between the settings? for a mc server? so you can feel teh change in settings? Hope that someone wil help me with it. Are there more tweaks that i can maken? [ set heat-sinks on the CPU ] I see the tweak in the documentation, only i do not understand how i can make this tweaks.... Thanks!!
  22. Hello, guys, please help setup HDMI output to 480x320 in mainline kernel for BananaPi M2. I am using 3.5inch HDMI display, it is working fine but my current resolution is too high. All attempts to change disp_mode in armbianEnv.txt didn't help. Thanks
  23. Is an OS compiled for Banana Pi M1 compatible with BPi M2 ? I would like an answer to this question before I try it out. Anyone tried it? thanks.
  24. I am new to Armbian and I have been using Jessie on BPI M2 for a couple weeks now but I can't seem to get it to automatically boot into desktop mode when no monitor is connected. It always seems to go right into command line. I have a number of pieces of software that have a GUI and need to run under desktop mode right off the bat that I would like to have at startup. I have been doing a lot of searching and have been wondering if it is a frambuffer issue. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
