  1. Hi I am new in the forum and the happy owner (as of yesterday) of an Orange Pi Lite. Nice little board. I managed to install Armbian server, configure Wi-Fi upgrade and install apache / php and mrtg. I also was able to enable one wire protocol to play around with a DS18B20 thermometer. My idea is to create an automated garden watering system with nice stats (graphs) I already have a 4 channel relay board (to connect solenoid water valves), a DS18B20 to sense temperature, an LDR to graph sunlight hours and 4 hygrometers --moisture sensors--. Those I want to connect through an I2C ADS1115 ADC module (which I also already have). I have never done a project like this one so I will be searching the forums a lot and probably be asking silly questions. I also noticed that the H3 processor gets really hot even whithout heavy load, so I installed a small heat sink. Thank you for reading! Regards
  2. Hello, I know there is documentation about it, but I think I've tried everything and my orange pi is still not displaying on my hdmi screen. The green LED is active, and the red one is blinking. I've written a Raspian image to the sd card, corresponding with the board. I have read about bin2fex but I can't have access to my sd card data on my Windows, to execute bin2fex. Thank you for your help !
  3. Hi, can any one help to me how i creating wireless web server with Orange Pi Lite step by step , thanks
  4. After finally compiling the github 8188cu-fixed, blacklisting the old driver, I'm left with an interface name starting with lx and continuing with the mac address. I really need it to just say wlan1, so that I can use this sd-image for multiple orangepi-lite boards. Each usb wifi stick I plug in comes up with a different MAC address, hence the interface name changes accordingly. Example: One stick may have a MAC address 00-b6-56-0a-34-b2, and the interface ends up being called lx00b6560a34b2 I've had a look at the leading Ubuntu Xenial solutions, so far none of them work, mainly they use a grub based solution. Hope someone can help.
  5. Hello, can somebody from developers add next to KERNEL_TARGET for Orange Pi Lite in the build system please ? Regards
  6. Hi, I always have a boot problem with the OP lite after operating approximately for 2 weeks !! 7. Sorta basic question, I have orange Pi Lite's, and Orange Pi PC+'s in various projects. The hardware looks similar except for emmc and ethernet, are the images interchangeable after installation?
  8. Hi Does anyone know if the OPi Lite's WiFi is meant to automatically reconnect if the AP reboots or disappears and then comes back? What is the default behaviour supposed to be? Is it meant to automatically scan nearby networks? Thanks
  9. Hello, I'm starting in this world with an Orange Pi Lite, but I'm not being able to perform the initial setup using serial console gadget on the OTG port. To prevent power problems, I'm using the DC input. Unfortunately I haven't found enough information to make the configuration on a Linux PC, since I wasn't able to know the /dev address to connect through screen. You've probably noticed that my knowledge of Linux is rather scarce. Thanks in advance!
  10. So I enabled overlays=usbhost0 in armbianEnv.txt it works after reboot. I connected my OTG converter and connected my bluetooth and managed to see the bluetooth device. However, after rebooting / powercycle, i notice '[ 23.700998] musb_bus_suspend 2584: trying to suspend as a_wait_bcon while active' appearing non-stop in dmesg How to get this message is as follows 1) Switch off your device. 2) Connect your OTG microusb to usb converter (You may / maynot plug in your usb device to it) 3) Switch on your device. 4) Run dmesg and it runs crazy. However, if you power on WITHOUT connecting your OTG converter, you will never get this error message. If you connect it once your device boots up, you still will NOT get this error message.
  11. Hi I've used it before, Then I wanted to re-install armbian desktop edition I installed it on the card but I got the error like this. No image or green blank screen I have installed another image, the screen resolution etc at first. Wrote that the kernel came loaded after the blank green screen came out. Please help me figure out how I can solve this problem
  12. Hi All I'm having some problem with a fresh install of version 5.30 but had the same problem with 5.27 on my Orange Pi Lite. On reboot, I can SSH into the device with no problems. but after a while connection hangs. If I wait a while after a reboot I can't SSH into the device either. I also can't ping the device after a while. Using the network manager, if I disable and then enable the wifi then everything works for a while. I have checked that the power Managment of the wifi is off. The whole time I can still browse the internet from the device with no problems. Any ideas on where to look for the problem? Thanks
  13. My new Orange Pi Lite can't connect to WiFi networks through internal WiFi adapter (RTL8189FTV) It tries to connect (putting interface...) then very long validating authentification and "Bad password"! But password is right! I tried two WiFi networks with different passwords, but Pi always showed "bad password" Both networks have WPA2-PSK security I set up WPA1/2 hex the WPA2 passphrase but it gave nothing! Please, help me! (Running latest Armbian (3.4 kernel)
  14. Hi Sorry my english and my ignorance in linux I'm trying to activate hostapd on orange pi light. I think realtek driver. Nework appairs, but i cannot associate, it says wrong password (12345678) iwconfig has not password item: Onnline documentation talks about realtek https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Advanced-Features/ I do not have these files -rt How can I do ? And how are they used?
  15. Hi All Please can someone assist me. I'm at my wits end here. I have an Orange Pi Lite running Armbian 5.30 desktop edition. I want to rotate the display 90deg. I have had no luck with xrandr as it lists the display as 'default' and not a specific output and this seems to cause a problem. The option to rotate the display is also not available in the display manager. Thanks in advance.
  16. I use "./compile.sh BRANCH=default BOARD=orangepilite KERNEL_ONLY=no PROGRESS_DISPLAY=plain RELEASE=xenial" to build the whole booting image for my orangepi lite, it works very good as the official prebuilt armbian image. Here, the usb otg port seems configured as peripheral mode already( g_searial module works as gadget in fact), I can use it as usb seraial well. However, I want to make it works as a usb storage, so, I though the g_mass_storage was the right module. I loaded it using following command: insmode g_mass_storage.ko file=/dev/mmcblk0p1 removable=1 then, I got kernel message like: [ 194.842091] usb open backing file: /dev/mmcblk0p1, 0xd442c400 [ 194.842441] g_mass_storage gadget: Mass Storage Function, version: 2009/09/11 [ 194.842470] g_mass_storage gadget: Number of LUNs=1 [ 194.842505] lun0: LUN: removable file: /dev/mmcblk0p1 [ 194.842566] ep_matches, wrn: endpoint already claimed, ep(0xc097b2ec, 0xbf2c28f4, ep1in-bulk) [ 194.842603] g_mass_storage gadget: Mass Storage Gadget, version: 2009/09/11 [ 194.842634] g_mass_storage gadget: userspace failed to provide iSerialNumber [ 194.842673] g_mass_storage gadget: g_mass_storage ready But, I got nothing at the remote host linux, no device, no usb attaching message as g_serial. So, what should I do to make the storage gadget work? Any hints will be very very appreciated.
  17. Hi, I've now spent days to get the access point running with hostapd and dnsmasq on the OrangePi Lite. Still without success. Output of hostapd: /etc/hotapd.conf: /etc/network/interfaces Output of iw list: /etc/init.d/hostapd: The strange thing is, that in rare cases it was sometimes possible to create the AP with the same configuration after doing: But on reboot it always failed. Can somebody help me please?
  18. It used to function fine, however after not using it for awhile it has quit working. It starts booting normally, then hangs with what's visible on the screen being a bunch of systemd messages, with the last being either something about system variables or mounting FUSE file filesystem, when it's the latter it's followed up with a kernel panic. I've reflashed several times using both the server and desktop images freshly downloaded, no difference. The power supply I'm using worked before, as did the SD card. Unfortunately I have no way of showing you system logs or such for the time being. Any help would be appreciated.

  20. Which is the maximum current delivered by the pin 5v of the gpio in an Orange Pi LITE? I would like to connect on it some sensors that needs 5v power supply. Thanks
  21. Hello, I try to setup my Orange Pi Lite with a thermal printer (http://www.ebay.de/itm/122418910118?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT). With my Arduino the printer works perfect, so it is actually ok. I just can't figure out how to use the ttl connection. I installed pyA20 and try to implement a kind of SoftwareSerial and it didn't worked really well: #!/usr/bin/env python """Basic blinking led example. The led on A20-OLinuXino-MICRO blinks with rate of 1Hz like "heartbeat". """ import os import sys import time if not os.getegid() == 0: sys.exit('Script must be run as root') from time import sleep from pyA20.gpio import gpio from pyA20.gpio import port from pyA20.gpio import connector tx = port.PA11 rx = port.PA12 baud = 1.0/9600.0 def sendTx(sendCharASCII): sendByte = '{0:b}'.format(sendCharASCII).zfill(8) sendByte = sendByte[::-1] print(sendByte) sendByteInt = [int(bit) for bit in sendByte] gpio.output(tx,0) time.sleep(baud) for bit in sendByteInt: #print('sending '+bit) gpio.output(tx,bit) time.sleep(baud) gpio.output(tx,1) time.sleep(0.01) gpio.init() gpio.setcfg(tx, gpio.OUTPUT) gpio.setcfg(rx, gpio.OUTPUT) gpio.output(tx,1) gpio.output(rx,0) sleep(1) sendTx(ord('a')) sendTx(ord('b')) sendTx(ord('c')) sendTx(ord('d')) sendTx(ord('e')) sendTx(ord('f')) sendTx(ord('g')) sendTx(ord('h')) sendTx(ord('i')) sendTx(ord('j')) sendTx(ord('k')) sendTx(ord('l')) sendTx(ord('m')) sendTx(ord('n')) sendTx(ord('o')) sendTx(ord('p')) sendTx(ord('q')) sendTx(ord('r')) sendTx(ord('s')) sendTx(ord('t')) sendTx(ord('u')) sendTx(ord('v')) sendTx(ord('w')) sendTx(ord('x')) sendTx(ord('y')) sendTx(ord('z')) sendTx(10) sendTx(10) sendTx(10) I printed out some cryptic signes. The cool thing is, that if i change the baud sleep time to something smaller, it actually prints sometimes the right letters. That means python is just too slow. Can anyone help to setup a ttl connection to the printer? I've googled alot, but I just can't find anything helpfull Currently I use pins PA11 and PA12, is this right? Greets, Chris
  22. Hello, i have an usb ethernet adapter recognized as (lsusb : Bus 005 Device 002: ID 0fe6:9700 Kontron (Industrial Computer Source / ICS Advent) DM9601 Fast Ethernet Adapter which is recognized and running fine on linux mint 17 ( kernel 3.16.0-38 - 52 ubuntu 14.04.01) but i can't find a way to make it work on any distro on OPi Lite. 1/ i tried nightly armbian xenial ( Armbian_5.27.170327_Orangepilite_Ubuntu_xenial_dev_4.10.3) , it ended up with a continuous message , a kind of kernel panic : [22.272075] dm9601 5-1:1.0 enx00e04c534458: kevent 4 may have been dropped 2/i tried armbian 3.4.113 and followed all instructions in this post , module g_ether is inserted and there is even dm9601 (lsmod) but no IP and no led blinking on adapter if /etc/network/interfaces contains : auto usb0 iface usb0 inet static address 192.168.1.9 netmask 255.255.255.0 pre-up /bin/sh -c 'echo 2 > /sys/bus/platform/devices/sunxi_usb_udc/otg_role' and if i replace usb0 with eth0, led blinks, i have the assigned IP but no connection. 3/ i found that a patch for this problem was available and inserted in kernel branch 4.4 according to this post , so i tried to compile it using Igor's script. i pasted the file "dm9601-bug.patch" under ~/userpatches/kernel/sun8i-default and even ~/userpatches/kernel/sun8i-dev but both images (regular end dev) lead to error in this patch : image 4/ I tried image Armbian_5.27_Orangepilite_Debian_jessie_dev_4.10.3 created using same script without trying to apply the patch, the adapter is working very slowly and ping yields to over 30% packet loss on local network between to linux machines. ssh connection is very slow, so i have sometimes to wait between characters. 5/ i tried finally to compile version 5.25 with 3.4.113 kernel using this steps : git clone --depth 1 git://github.com/raspberrypi/linux.git git clone https://github.com/kmtaylor/rpi_patches.git cd linux patch -p1 < ../rpi_patches/dm9601-bug.patch KERNEL_SRC=/home/user/linux/ sudo modprobe configs zcat /proc/config.gz > .config make menuconfig # here i selected usb ethernet support and all necessary modules with M or * make -j4 uImage modules # i took almost 1h30 sudo make modules_install after that i have this content, but can't find how to use it since compiling kernel for arm is different from x86 cause there is no grub to choose the kernel to boot, and i can't find any methods on how to compile kernel (to enable a feature or apply a patch) for armbian except the whole compilation using Igor's script. Copying zImage to /boot didn't work and gives an error related to /boot /.next and dtb. sc@orangepilite:~/linux$ ls -l arch/arm/boot/ total 15960 -rwxr-xr-x 1 sc sc 11194368 Mar 27 12:39 Image -rw-r--r-- 1 sc sc 2816 Mar 27 10:55 Makefile drwxr-xr-x 2 sc sc 4096 Mar 27 10:55 bootp drwxr-xr-x 2 sc sc 4096 Mar 27 12:39 compressed drwxr-xr-x 4 sc sc 69632 Mar 27 10:55 dts -rw-r--r-- 1 sc sc 1648 Mar 27 10:55 install.sh -rwxr-xr-x 1 sc sc 5064592 Mar 27 12:39 zImage So why is this network adapter working on older kernel in Linux mint, and is compilation the right way to make it work? how to complete the compilation steps described in 5/ ? any help appreciated
  23. Hello, I am going to make a project using OrangePi (most likely OrangePi Lite, but could be other model) with a camera. So, there is my supplication, for someone to make a test and check HOW MANY pictures (let's say 640x480) can the camera take PER ONE SECOND (working continuously, in a loop)? I am interested in both types of cameras: a USB webcam and OrangePi CAM module. And it's about taking pictures, not a movie. By the way - it is possible to take pictures into RAM? I mean not writing it to SD card. It would improve performance :-) Thanks to everyone in advance!
  24. Hi guys, I just installed Kodi on my Orange Pi Lite running Armbian. Everything worked very well, except for the fact that that there seemed to be no audio at all through my tv. I am a beginner, so I really don't know what to do at this point. I saw someone talking about editing the /etc/asound.conf file so it will transmit sound through the HDMI cable. However, I have no idea how to open a file in the Terminal. I would love to (at least) know how to open a file in the Terminal. Thanks in advance, TheNooter.
