  1. it appears the pins on the esp8266 12e are also on the orange pi one. Can I connect the pins to an armbian orange pi one and then test the esp8266 12e? I want to test if wifi works. Is required software present in armbian? Or should I get an usb adapter https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1pm33XifrK1RjSspbq6A4pFXaf.jpg?width=1000&height=1000&hash=2000 and utilize a x86 gnulinux computer? It says the esp8266 12e supports i2c. Does the orange pi one have i2c pins, such that I can test the wifi of the esp8266 12e from an i2c connection on the armbian orange pi one? Is required software present in armbian? Thanks.
  2. I made an application with opengles which works correctly in armbian xenial 3.4.113, I always have 40 or 50 fps, also if I run the es2gears program it gives me a constant 300 fps, I wanted to change to a more current kernel and download armbian buster, but here my program runs at 5 or 6 fps, and es2gears does not exceed 30 fps. I was reading the posts on the subject in the forums and I found that installing the lima driver activated 3d acceleration, but I could not make it work. Some information that can help me activate 3d acceleration with kernel 5.8 I am using an orange pi one thanks: D
  3. OK, being away for a while and having 5.x kernel and sunxi_cedrus around I need some directions. I had some embedded 3.x desktop installations in a community museum showing videos (using mpv after a button press) which need revising. So I decided to update the firmware/scripts etc. These are Orange Pi One's... In the past I installed 3.x desktop version as it has better video acceleration. What should I do now? I don't see a focal desktop in downloads. Is it OK to use the focal server, install xfce4 on top of it? Will I have video acceleration? I've been using HEVC .mkv files... Thanks in advance Bülent ~# uname -a Linux myhostname 5.8.16-sunxi #20.08.12 SMP Sat Oct 17 13:46:53 CEST 2020 armv7l armv7l armv7l GNU/Linux :~# dmesg | grep -i cedr [ 6.324285] sunxi_cedrus: module is from the staging directory, the quality is unknown, you have been warned. 4. Hi all! I have Orange Pi One with Armbian Debian 5.8.9-sunxi on board. The problem is that when I catch 2 kHz square wave with OPi gpio, I have very big delta between signals. If I use "interrupt both endges" parameter for gpio, time between signals must be 250 microsecs. But now it floats between 200 - 290 microsecs. And I have achive this result after some suggestions from other forum topics: using isolcpu=3, run c program on this cpu, use max priority, disable powersaving for CPU. I try to read with wiringOP lib, and directly from sysfs, but still have jittering about 90 us. Also I think, that I have not very bad results for cyclictest: # cyclictest -a -t -n -p80 # /dev/cpu_dma_latency set to 0us policy: fifo: loadavg: 0.00 0.00 0.00 1/127 2335 T: 0 ( 2332) P:80 I:1000 C: 32762 Min: 8 Act: 11 Avg: 12 Max: 98 T: 1 ( 2333) P:80 I:1500 C: 21841 Min: 8 Act: 19 Avg: 11 Max: 48 T: 2 ( 2334) P:80 I:2000 C: 16381 Min: 8 Act: 9 Avg: 12 Max: 113 T: 3 ( 2335) P:80 I:2500 C: 13104 Min: 10 Act: 10 Avg: 10 Max: 16 The main quieston is - does direct programming /dev/mem gpio registers helps me to decrease floating between receiving signals? May be other suggestions? Please, help! Thank you!
  5. Hi guys. I've just spent yet another two hours trying to find an answer to my webcam problem and there does not seem to be an answer from what I can discern. Still working to try to get a camera to work with Octopi from what I have around. Strange thing I discovered that the USB OTG port on the Opi One does not seem to work, but when plugged into my single regular USB, I get this for the camera: pi@citrico-opione:~/ffmpeg_cedrus264_H3$ lsusb Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 003 Device 002: ID 1908:2310 GEMBIRD Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub It is one of the known working with mjpeg-streamer https://community.octoprint.org/t/usb-webcams-known-to-work-with-mjpg-streamer/21149 but the notes don't seem to be current. pi@citrico-opione:~/ffmpeg_cedrus264_H3$ ls /dev/video* /dev/video0 /dev/video1 /dev/video2 I have tried some of the old gits out there. My only ray of hope was when I did modprobe hid-gembird it did not error, just seemed to say ok. But still no webcam, just a different message, of/dev/video0: Device or resource busy instead of it not being a video capture device. So I"m out of ideas. Any help would be appreciated. Trying to find an inexpensive webcam solution for octopi using my Opi Ones.
  6. Guys please help me. My orange pi one with Armbian installed and running Pi Hole. The HDMI Output is not working, And when I try to enter this command h3disp [-h/-H] -m [video mode] [-d] [-c [0-2] it say access denied. My point is there's no output this play on my device. I hope someone understand me and help me thank you.
  7. A friend of mine told me that his OPi One freezes every couple of days for no reason. So I took it with me and see what I could find. I connected another SBC via serial to the board and wait until it freezes. This is what I have got and no idea what the reason is.... The armbianmonitor output is from a fresh restart after power cycle.
  8. Hi, I am having a strange problem with my Orangepi One, I previously had a python script which was run on login using .bashrc. The python script controlled VLC using the python bindings and hence I could not use crontab -e or rc.local as they are run in the backgound. Previously .bashrc worked without any issues however either I updated VLC or armbian and now it does not run after I login (even using an autologin). Strangely enough however if I login via SSH the script runs. To access it I use : sudo nano /home/user/.bashrc To run the script I append to the end of the file without making any adjustments: echo Running tv streaming program from boot python3 /home/user/path_to_file/pyVLC.py It seems strange as the program runs successfully when I login with SSH, which makes me think that maybe I need to specify that it runs in normal start-up or that perhaps there is something running before it that blocks it (maybe the armbian logo as it is not present in the ssh boot?). I have reloaded the OS to see if I accidentally changed a setting however the same problem is occurring. The only changes that are made from the fresh boot were installing: python3 cython chromium chromedriver and enabling SSH from armbian-monitor I am unsure how to proceed and any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Best regards,
  9. The module ds2490 seem to be missing in the new release. Should be: /lib/modules/4.19.62-sunxi/kernel/drivers/w1/slaves/w1_ds2490.ko
  10. Hello! I try to turn on usb gadget mode on my OPi. For example g_ethernet, or g_midi. Read many posts, but still don't understand what I should do. Is it possible to turn on gadget mode without compiling my own armbian? Also, I had found on this forum info that legacy roms already have OTG support from the box. Is it true? May be somebody knows tutorials of how to turn on usb gadget mode?
  11. orange pi one armbian buster purged non free software I installed flashrom. In sudo armbian-config -> system settings -> toogle hardware I marked spi-spidev. Saved. Restarted computer. /dev/spi* displays nothing. How can I enable spi in armbian? Thank you.
  12. Hi, I'm here again, the quarantine is almost over (sadly 'cause here in italy we are a bunch of a****le) and I finally get rid of my kodi 17 on retrorangepi 4.2 (old) that give me a lot of problems (with wifi connection lost, scraper that didn't update, and freeze, not for sure a problem with retrorangepi itself). so... I have something in my mind now that I'm back to home with my new FTTH internet connection. I want to setup an armbian image with or withot desktop for octoprint Armbian with 5.4 kernel (xfce debian) is really slow and temperature (with heatsink) don't go under 60°C on idle, with retrorangepi based on Debian Jessie, temps go from 45°C to 50°C on idle. So maybe - MAYBE - the problem could be the kernel? If so, because I don't care about security in this particular case (I need OPI just to execute octoprint on local), Could downgrade kernel (by using a legacy version) bring to an improvement on performance/temp? and give me the possibility to install package like octoprint or deluge? or some dependancy are linked to the kernel version? I know that maybe it will be a stupid question, but I'm wasting a lot of time with this board, because I'm so stubborn (and broke). thank you
  13. Hello, I'm trying to encode Video from the Orangepi gc2035 Camera to raw h264 with newest Armbian Xenial Kernel 3.4. I use a Orangepi One. For that I'm using the following gst Plugin: https://github.com/gtalusan/gst-plugin-cedar If I run the following gstreamer pipeline to get a raw h264 file it perfectly creates the file. But I can just play this file with ffplay. But not with vlc or broadway.js. Any idea how to get it playable in vlc and broadway.js? I've already tried to change to 66 to get baseline profile on following line and recompiled https://github.com/gtalusan/gst-plugin-cedar/blob/master/src/gstcedarh264enc.c#L296 But with no luck to solve the issue. # gst-launch-1.0 -ve v4l2src device=/dev/video0 ! video/x-raw,format=NV12,width=640,height=480,framerate=30/1 ! queue ! cedar_h264enc ! filesink location=test.h264

  15. I'm running a web cam on a OrangePiOne. For the last four days its been performing adequately, at least as well as the RaspiPiZero. At the moment though its suddenly decided to become a snail... slower than paint drying or melting blanc mange. So here I am looking for pointers. I don't have a lot of detail, but what I have follows. I'm using mjpg-streamer to handle the webcam. In the past this has been rock solid without issue, at this point I assume its not the problem in itself. 16. Hello, I'm a new Armbian user of my first OrangePI One H3 board after much time spent on rpi boards. I was curious to see how these boards run and I bought one. I'm using a fast 32GB A2 microsd, an external 4 USB externally powered hub, an HDMI to VGA converter with audio out. I was deciding at first which o.s. to use cause I've seen there're also Ubuntu and Debian official 5.x kernel based images on their page but I tried this at first. I've installed usual applications browsers office apps mail etc, and now I'd like to make some questions to better understand some things: 1) I know being on the armbian forum I'd expect everyone to prefer this o.s. but I'd like to know which are the differences with the official Ubuntu/Debian images in terms of proper hardware usage (drivers, acceleration, etc..) and generally if you've tried both and your advices on them. 2) Obviously with 512MB od DDR3 I wasn't expecting a full web browser experience cause immediately ram is filled up and begin to swap on disk. I've tried to increase zram to around 400MB setting at 90% but still seems not enough. Are there any possibility to increase it more like 1GB but still preferring to use the internal faster ram as primary choice? 3) I understand there's no Opengl acceleration and usually I'd not need it but still I'd like to understand which is the actual accelerations implemented that use some hardware maybe for 2D at least. I've tried followed the guide to compile everything for the video acceleration at least but at the end in the xorg.log I got some errors with the FB calls changing the acceleration compared to the original auto configurated one and got higher cpu usage then before in mpv compared to the original configuration. Also I've seen for example in some browser it calls the llmvpipe software renderer others seems not to use any acceleration at all. Which is the actual best 2D and eventually 3D configuration for the latest armbian 5.4.26-sunxi kernel based enviroment on the Allwinner H3? 4) I'm using a PSP power supply with 1500mah, is it ok for the connector size and mah supply until I wait for the usb cable to arrive? 5) Using the externally powered USB HUB if I switch off the board and I remove the power supply connector from the pi one, the board still receive some current from the usb powered hub until I disconnect that too. Is it dangerous for the board itself this redundance of power? Thanks I'll update with more questions. Bye

  19. Hi, Is there any reason why the card is only initialized as high speed SDHC on this board? On my phone, it is initialized as ultra high speed SDR104 SDHC. I'd like to know if there's anything I need to do to maximize the card's performance on this board. Thanks.
  20. orange pi one h3 512mo ram didn't boot up and it stop at starting kernel this happend for both armbian version in the armbian website , i tryed also a version from the official website of orange pi one and it pass this step but show black screen .is there any image work properlly on orange pi one H3 please hekp
  21. https://components101.com/sites/default/files/component_pin/Beaglebone-Black-Pinout.png I could not find a picture numbering the pins on an orange pi one. Up right pin by the arrow is pin1, pin below pin1 is pin2 and pin left to pin1 is pin3. http://www.orangepi.org/images/orangepione_info.jpg I want to use an orange pi one to install libreboot on a thinkpad t400's flashchip. Which of the following pins on the beaglebone black's p9 corresponds to which pins on the orange pi one? beaglebone black pin 17 -> ? 18 -> ? 21 -> ? 22 -> ? gnd -> ? 3.3v -> ? How much ampere can the 3.3v pin on the orange pi one provide? The orange pi one's psu is 5v and 4a. Thank you.
  22. today I compiled a image for my OPi One: Armbian Buster with Linux 5.4.2-sunxi package bsp-kernel[19.11.3.342] u-boot[19.11.3] dtb[19.11.3.342] firmware[19.11.3] config[19.11.3] branch[dev] but mpg123 is playing a 128kb/s Radio-Stream much too fast via HDMI (hw:0,0) - streaming the same URL via a USB-Audio-Dongle (hw:1,0) has the right speed Display output (from the numbers) is the same, but with HDMI the buffers gets empty too fast because of the wrong speed... Does have anybody also this issue?
  23. http://www.fsfla.org/ikiwiki/selibre/linux-libre/ I expect this is the software. Free software is software you may use, share, modify and redistribute. To my knowledge orange pi one has an armv7 cpu. And the gpu is the same as on a pinephone. On this forum I was told command apt purge iozone3 armbian-firmware might turn armbian into a free software system. There is an armv7 libre linux kernel, which to some extend supports mali gpus. I want to test the libre linux kernel on an orange pi one computer, to get to know how well a Mali 400 MP2 runs on free software. Maybe it can give a streak of how well the pinephone's gpu will run on free software? How do you test a libre linux kernel on an orange pi one? Do you purge the linux kernel from armbian and then install libre linux kernel? Thanks.
  24. Armbianmonitor for 5.4.6: http://ix.io/260C From switching between 4.19.x and 5.4.x kernels I noticed that the lower cpu frequencies got missing. It should start at 120MHz like this: root@horangepione:~# uname -a Linux honeypot2 4.19.84-sunxi #19.11.3 SMP Mon Nov 18 18:39:42 CET 2019 armv7l GNU/Linux root@horangepione:~# cpufreq-info -o minimum CPU frequency - maximum CPU frequency - governor CPU 0 120000 kHz ( 11 %) - 1008000 kHz (100 %) - ondemand CPU 1 120000 kHz ( 11 %) - 1008000 kHz (100 %) - ondemand CPU 2 120000 kHz ( 11 %) - 1008000 kHz (100 %) - ondemand CPU 3 120000 kHz ( 11 %) - 1008000 kHz (100 %) - ondemand Though on 5.4.x the minimum frequency is 480MHz. Since the default cpufrequtils file was not there I created one: cat /etc/default/cpufrequtils # WARNING: this file will be replaced on board support package (linux-root-...) upgrade ENABLE=true MIN_SPEED=120000 MAX_SPEED=1200000 GOVERNOR=ondemand It seems to have an effect because when changing the minimum frequency it clocks up as it should. Frequencies beyond 1.01GHz missing as well but that is a different story...I guess. Cheers Werner
  25. My development board is Orange Pi One, my development board installed armbian, but its Language Supports work is not normal, open for a while there will be flashback phenomenon! ! ! Help everyone to give a solution! ! !
