  3. Using the WiFi functionality eventually the system get disconnected, and scanning won't work anymore.
  4. If you encounter this error install usb-modeswitch and reboot. sudo apt install usb-modeswitch sudo reboot
  5. As we know, the PCIe on H6 is buggy, which doesn't offer linear address, and Linux cannot support such kind of configuration. However, the Cortex-A53 cores used by H6 supports virtualization, which can be used to change the order of the address space. Recently, I tried to make use of virtualization to provide linear mapping of PCIe, and I succeed in making an Intel 6205 wireless card working. The hypervisor code is at https://github.com/Icenowy/aw-el2-barebone . It's intended to start before U-Boot, and located at 0x40010000. A U-Boot fork that is patched to load the hypervisor is at https://github.com/Icenowy/u-boot/tree/h6-load-hyp , and a kernel that utilizes the wrapped PCIe (and patched to reserve memory for the hypervisor) is at https://github.com/Icenowy/linux/tree/h6-pcie-wrapped . In order to let the hypervisor start before U-Boot, BL31 needs to be built with `PRELOADED_BL33_BASE=0x40010000` in make parameter -- this will change the EL2 entrypoint to the hypervisor. Mainline ATF from ARM works. Contributions to the hypervisor is welcomed. (In addition, abusing virtualization in such way will prevent us from using KVM. But I think more people will want PCIe instead of KVM, right?)
  6. Hi, I am looking for a device that has good support for being WiFi access point and being in client (managed) mode at the same time. Which can you recommend?

  11. Hi, I'm trying to run with a PREEMPT_RT kernel to get a real-time (lowest latency as possible) performance. But in addition to the PREEMPT_RT patch, I want to make sure the system doesn't go to sleep (or using power save modes) to avoid additional wake-ups latencies (that the PREEMPT_RT patch cannot reduce). I've reviewed the AXP209 datasheet and tried to understand if I can somehow disable the system from going to sleep, but I didn't find the answer for that. I do know that register 0x31 can control the entrance to sleep mode if we write '1' to bit-3, but I can't prevent other drivers or applications from doing it. Question: Is there a way to disable the option to control the sleep-mode ? Thanks
  12. Hello! I have a stash of OPi H3 boards and it just occurred to me that there's no way to interface them with a storage device in any decent way. What am I missing here??? I also have a lot of 100 GB SATA SSD's, and I thought to myself, wouldn't it be great if each SBC could have its own SSD. But then I realized... how the hell am I going to get any kind of decent IO? If it's not possible with SSD's connected locally, let's forget them and then think, what other storage device can I use so that my OPi boards have some respectable IO device to work with? Please tell me where the gap in my understanding is?! Thanks!
  13. Hello, Thanks to the help here I got to install a latest armbian mainline version with the Lima OpenGL 2.1 support functional that might have not helped the desktop but is still nice to see the o.s. using any part of this system on a chip. To make some test after glxinfo e glxgears I tried the yquake2 engine with the demo old game and it works. I was expecting considering how old the game is to work faster even if it's accelerated for sure and expecting better quality results (bilinear filtering is not the best and sometimes objects disappear and reappear depending on the scene but it's a good test anyway). I heard lately that has been released a free software for the rpi4 and other arm boards to run x86 programs and even Wine with it. I understand that its SoC and ram are far faster than the H3 ones but I was wondering if anyone tested if the pi One could run old x86 games (like late 90's Directx6 ones for example) on these board or tried to. Thanks
  14. I can run spi with the code below. But I have to communicate with too many slaves on the same line. I will connect all the devices with the same MISO - MOSI - SCLK line. static void transfer(int fd) { //n.SLAVE CS LOW int ret; uint8_t tx[] = { 0xAD, 0x03 }; uint8_t rx[2] = {0, }; struct spi_ioc_transfer tr = { .tx_buf = (unsigned long)tx, .rx_buf = (unsigned long)rx, .len = 2, .delay_usecs = delay, .speed_hz = speed, .bits_per_word = bits, }; ret = ioctl(fd, SPI_IOC_MESSAGE(1), &tr); if (ret < 1) pabort("can't send spi message"); //n.SLAVE CS HIGH puts(""); } Can I do like above? So I will use software CS, not (Hardware )CS on the board. The slave's CS line will be written in the comments lines.
  15. hi to all how can I change the armbian logo in bootsplash? I've searched for it in this forum and saw some similarity but that not solved my problem. I enabled the bootlogo=true in /boot/armbianEnv.txt and after that the logo appears in boot instead of texts and that's fine but I want to change the logo. also in boot.cmd I found this: if test "${bootlogo}" = "true"; then setenv consoleargs "bootsplash.bootfile=bootsplash.armbian ${consoleargs}"; fi changed the "bootsplash.armbian" with some bitmap file but after doing mkimage to create boot.scr, the logo went missing and texts are back. searched in file system for "bootsplash.armbian" and found this: /usr/lib/firmware/bootsplash.armbian and that was not the file I was looking for. plymouth not working either. does anyone know how to change the logo? ps: the device is orange pi pc v1.3 and uname -a output is: Linux opipc 5.8.16-sunxi #20.08.14 SMP Tue Oct 20 22:15:32 CEST 2020 armv7l GNU/Linux
  16. today doing an update on some machines with armbian: ARMBIAN 5.25 stable Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS 3.4.113-sun8i I checked that the xenial folder is empty: https://uk.mirrors.fossho.st/armbian/apt/dists/xenial/ how can I solve?
  17. Hi, I've been trying to compile a c program with GCC and have been unable to move past various errors related to file functions that should be declared in fs.h I have installed (several times!) linux-headers-5.7.15-sunxi, made scripts, pointed the make file to ARCH=arm (not really necessary I know) and KSRC=/usr/src/linux-headers-5.7.15-sunxi/. In the fs header in /usr/src/linux-headers-5.7.15-sunxi/linux/ looks correct and includes references to the functions I require (filp_open(), filp_close(), kernel_write()) but the compiler simply refuses to accept that these functions are declared. It appears to still be using the original headers in /usr/include. I just know that I've done something wrong here but, having done everything I can find in this forum, I am now simply going round in circles... Also tried adding -I /usr/src/linux-headers-5.7.15-sunxi/include/ to the make file to force the compiler to look at the sunxi headers before the system ones however this just gives errors such as; /usr/src/linux-headers-5.7.15-sunxi/include/linux/linkage.h:8:10: fatal error: asm/linkage.h: No such file or directory Anyone point a poor frustrated programmer in the right direction?
  18. I have a raspi hat (rak2245) that has 2 versions: a pi-hat version that has a 40 pin-header on it for raspberry pi's , but also a smaller stamp edition. It uses spi and uart to communicate with the pi. I have it running without issues on my orange pi zero, even though the pinheader is a little too large. And via a breadboard I can access all pins just fine. But since I am making my own PCB anyway, I am interested in using the stamp version. The only difference between the stamp and the pi-hat version (aside from the form-factor and pin-out) is that the pi-hat version has an additional eeprom chip to tell the rapsberry pi about the function of the pins apparently. Now I wonder if that chip is just a convenience or if I can actually do without it. I am comfortable making my own device tree overlay files to indicate pin functions. I've done it with spi before to add additional CS pins on the orange pi zero. So my question is, would that likely be enough to get the stamp version running, or would leaving out the eeprom chip likely make it not work (without serious driver development work)? Cheers.
  19. The latest image uses kernel sunxi64 5.4.45 but this doesn't install with apt on my older image, and there is no release for this new version available under https://apt.armbian.com/pool/main/l .
  20. Hi there, I don't know yet much about the USB gadget framework, but was wondering it I could use it to make an Orange Pi Zero or One seen as a video sink by the host computer. I know the framework should allow the board to be seen as an audio source, a video source, a Midi device and other things, but could it be seen as a video consumer of some sort ? My goal would be to grab the host's webcam content, encode and stream it on the SBC so that the host's CPU still has resource for other tasks. Does it make sense ? Thanks.
  21. Great job here! I need video acceleration on my bPI+. I found some outdated info and hints but nothing solid, can this be done? Can I find (or build) a legacy kernel somehow? How/where? Thanks again, armbian is amazing!
  22. I've tried to compile libgpiod (my assumption is this is a user space lib) and it depends on gpio.h which is used by the kernel. According to https://github.com/brgl/libgpiod/issues/22 gpio.h should be installed with linux-libc-dev which is already installed and gpio.h is missing. I installed the kernel headers and tried (it ends up with typedef conflicts): ./autogen.sh --enable-tools=yes --prefix=/usr/local CFLAGS="-I/usr/src/linux-headers-4.14.14-sunxi/arch/arm/include -I/usr/src/linux-headers-4.14.14-sunxi/include" configure: error: linux/gpio.h header not found (needed to build the library) I've attached the config.log. Maybe I'm totally missing the boat, but there's not a lot of info out there build this for ARM and there are no deb packages for ARM I can find. config.log
  23. <smaeul> scanning bus dwc3@5200000 for devices... 2 USB Device(s) found <smaeul> wooo, got USB3 boot working on H6 :D patchset at https://github.com/smaeul/u-boot/commits/h6-dwc3 Just catched this on #linux-sunxi IRC channel. I do not have a H6 board to test this but maybe someone else wanna give it a shot.
  24. I'm trying to setup Ethernet connection on Omnima A20 - it's a cheaper stripped down version of Cubietruck (less RAM, less IO connectors, RTL8201CP 100Mbit network chip instead of 1Gbit). I'm using Debian Buster server image for Cubietruck. Everything works fine except Ethernet. ethtool says the link is up, full duplex 100Mbit. Neither networkmanager nor dhclient are able to obtain IP address from router. Static IP assignment (via /etc/network/interfaces or with "ip addr add/ip route add") succeeds, but router is unreachable for ping ("Destination Host Unreachable"). I've ruled out hardware failure: Inserting the same cable into laptop produces working connection, both via DHCP and with static IP. Rebooting the board into stock firmware (POS system based on Debian Wheezy) produces working connection for static IP at least. I didn't test the DHCP because original firmware goes out of its way to block any non-whitelisted usage scenario. Router firmware and hardware are working correctly based on the tests above. It seems that kernel detects NIC correctly (based on dmesg). Pinging the router ("Destination Host Unreachable") steadily increases TX bytes in ifconfig, RX stays at 0 all the time. This is where my knowledge/google-fu ends. Do you have any ideas on how to troubleshoot/fix this issue? Thanks!
  25. Hi all, I use a cubieboard3 as a web server. For several months, joomla tells me that I am PHP 7.0.33-0 + deb9u7et that I need to update my version of php to 7.3 or later. In the updates of the bone, I never see these updates of PHP, must it be done manually and how? I am in Debian Stretch with Armbian Linux 4.19.62-sunxi. Thank you François
