  1. Hi out there! I've managed to build a quite complex system based on Tinker, using 1 Wire sensor, I2C-s, all of all UART's, and all of all remaining GPIO's... :-) Unfortunately a long term test in a climate chamber have failed... (although the core was just heated up to 70 degrees Celsius) The need for a hardware watchdog then arise... I've build new kernel using latest compile.sh with the HW watchdog checked resulting Linux tinkerboard 4.4.110-rockchip #2 SMP Wed Jan 10 16:41:03 CET 2018 armv7l GNU/Linux but there is no /dev/watchdog Not even in /proc/iomem at ff800000... (it seems okay in dtb, as well as in /sys/devices/platform) Now what? Any help would be kindly appreciated, SG
  2. I still have a problem configuring the wifi hotspot on the armbian distribution for tinkerboard. The hotspot is clearly unstable. So none of my computers can't connect to it and my phones and tablets have a unstable connection. I thought having found a turnover using a call to iw with a frequency of 1s. This was reactivating the wifi for some times (that should simulate a continuous connection) but it looks that it doesn't work anymore. So I am stuck with that, I am unable to configure a stable hotspot. Is there something to do with the rtl8723 driver, or have I no hope to make it works ?
  3. Hi There are some guides on how to install Kubernetes on a Raspberry Pi cluster. I am trying to build such a cluster with Asus Tinker Boards as I think that these would make an even more powerful demo system. Unfortunately there are no guides for running Kubernetes on Tinker Boards. I am using Armbian Ubuntu Xenial mainline image which is running very stable. uname -a Linux tinkerboard 4.11.0-rockchip #19 SMP PREEMPT Thu May 4 16:08:16 CEST 2017 armv7l armv7l armv7l GNU/Linux When initializing the cluster with "kubeadm init" it runs into the following fatal error during preflight checks of the system: [preflight] Some fatal errors occurred: unexpected kernel config: CONFIG_NETFILTER_XT_MATCH_COMMENT and CONFIG_NETFILTER_XT_MATCH_COMMENT: not set Is this an option that has to be included into kernel at compile time? If yes, I think this would be a useful option to be contained in the downloadable image - at least for users of Kubernetes. Thanks for any support or hint. Tom
  4. Does the armbian build come with 3D acceleration? Or is it 2d only?
  5. Hello, I am using the latest Desktop Armbian and use the internal wifi and a usb wifi stick (edimax ew 7811-un). Both devices are detected by network-manager. I use network-manager to connect to my router. I get internet. Minutes later, there is DNS conflict (/var/log/syslog) and I cannot resolve any websites anymore. I only see dhclient DHCPDISCOVER on eth0 255.255.255.255 for some reasons. I have this problem with a fresh installed Armbian. How can I solve this? Thank you
  6. https://www.cnx-software.com/2017/12/07/rockchip-rk3288-to-be-phased-out-soon-gpd-xd-android-console-to-get-mediatek-mt8176-soc-4gb-ram-upgrade/ Rockchip RK3288 32-bit Arm processor was first spotted in a company presentation in the summer of 2013, before being announced – with some confusion (Cortex A12 vs A17) – at CES 2014 in January. The quad core Cortex A17 processor had then its moments of glory with inclusion in products such as Chromebooks (2015) and ASUS Tinker board SBC earlier this year. “Rockchip are phasing out sales of the RK3288”, meaning most products based on the chip will soon be phased out or upgraded to another solution. How long each product will keep selling will depend on the stocks held by the manufacturer.
  7. Trying to set Wireguard (www.wireguard.io). I can compile and load the module (which is an issue on most distributions as they lack the necessary kernel headers), but bringing up the interface fails: root@tinkerboard:/etc/wireguard# wg-quick up mullvad [#] ip link add mullvad type wireguard [#] wg setconf mullvad /dev/fd/63 [#] ip address add 10.99.0.23 dev mullvad [#] ip link set mtu 1420 dev mullvad [#] ip link set mullvad up [#] wg set mullvad fwmark 51820 [#] ip -6 route add ::/0 dev mullvad table 51820 [#] ip -6 rule add not fwmark 51820 table 51820 RTNETLINK answers: Address family not supported by protocol [#] ip link delete dev mullvad root@tinkerboard:/etc/wireguard# No idea what could be wrong there. The same configuration works fine on a VM running Ubuntu Desktop and on a Raspberry Pi with Raspbian. What am I missing here?
  8. Hello, I am using the lastest stable mainline kernel and would like to change my mac address before network-manager is started. I tried to change the mac address of wlan1 (which is an Edimax usb wifi stick) which works, but wlan0 (Tinkerboard internal wifi chip) gives me the message: Network driver didn't actually change to the new MAC!! Does it have something to do with the drivers used on Armbian? I am using sudo macchanger --mac 02:02:03:04:05:06 wlan0 Thanks for help.

  13. Hello. In Armbian 5.34 (default, next and nightly (26/10/2017) no have permission for create, edit and delet conection on network manager. To be able to modify a connection it is necessary to open the network manager in root. It's really very exciting. Looking on the internet it turns out that it will be a problem of "policy". I had already reported this bug on the post "tinkerboard". He had been tuned to a nightly version but he came back. my account is in the group netdev and sudo like ask in the polkit Would it be possible to have a "next" version fix this bug or have the procedure to fix the error? thank
  14. Hmm... I have similar problem for Asus tinkerboard hangs thread's thing. First, I've reinstall OS few days ago, because OS partition is crashed by system hangs. I've test next build but it can't be reboot (I don't know why). cause I've install legacy build. It looks pretty works well, so I've install 'transmission-daemon' to build my own seedbox. I've plugged 500GB 2.5in External HDD and 128GB Flash Drive, and use 3A Micro-USB adapter. then... ta-da! system hangs! generally It works good 1~2 days after boot. but randomly hangs. I think it's temp things cause install Fan on 3.3V GPIO, but same. It hangs. Before install External HDD and Flash Drive, It never hangs! I think problem maybe caused by; 1. Flash Drive 2. 3A PSU 3. 'transmission-daemon' So, I will try 'Direct connect power to 5V GPIO', and question is this. Can I use 5V 4A PSU? by this video, Tinkerboard's max consumption is 2.2A. External HDD + Flash Drive's consumption is 1.0A ~ 1.2A (expected) So, I need more then 3A PSU, but Tinkerboard can supply over 3A to GPIO Pin? and, I know GPIO Power supply is sensitive to Voltage. It's correct? then how can I protect circuit? First, I will try to remove Flash Drive of this weekend. Tinkerboard installed on my uncle's home, cause I can't manage/test on weekdays. Thank you.
  15. I have a USB-C charger rated for 3A, USB-C Cable rated for 3A, and a USB-C to MicroUSB adapter rated for 2.4A. Should I even bother testing that?
  16. hi guys. I need to connect temperature sensor ds18b20 to thinker board on w1 (one wire) how is posible to put on ??
  17. Hello, i will move my project from RPI2 to tinkerboard. I have 2 Serial Converter, USB to RS422 and USB to RS485, both working on the PI. On the Tinkerboard with "ARMBIAN 5.33 stable Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS 4.13.3-rockchip" runs only the RS422, the RS485 (Vendor 1a86) is not available as /dev/ttyUSB. What can i do? 18. Has anyone played with kvm or xen on the hw-virt capable rockchip devices? Im trying to setup a simple kvm scenario. Im using Armbian tinker stable and the excellent @Myy 4.13 kernel and have configured it for guest and host support. Im struggling to get the boards up in "Normal" (PL2 / Hyp) mode. I can only get them to boot in "Secure" mode, which is the normal method of boot. Secure boot disables access to Privilege Level 2 and the ARM Hypervisor which makes virtualisation impossible. I have tried setting "bootm_boot_mode=nonsec" but it makes no difference, I still get "kvm [1]: HYP mode not available" during boot. Same as I get with "bootm_boot_mode=sec" which is the standard startup method. Im suspect this is a uboot issue and maybe the CONFIG_ARMV7_VIRT option is disabled? Anyone played with this yet? If not, whats the correct Armbian way to build just uboot for a specific board? I will look at creating a patch for uboot to enable the ARM Virt options
  19. Hello, I usually use the Next version of the image for the tinkerboard. I would like to use the nightly version. But the nightly version does not automatically log on to the user I created at the beginning in contradiction to the other version. How do I reactivate automatic login in nightly build ? Thanks
  20. Hi! With I tinkerboard I installed the Ubuntu Desktop - legacy kernel. I wanted to try the linux-image-next-rockchip, but it had some problems (new IP address at each boot), so I wanted to go back to linux-image-rockchip. When I installed linux-image-rockchip, I got 4.4.73-rockchip and not 4.4.88-rockchip which I had before.
  21. *Updated 7-23* ~~All kernels should be fixed at this point, Legacy, Next, and Dev.~~ The ASUS Tinker Board has a big problem with rebooting properly, centered around the SD card power supplies. Upon issuing a shutdown request, the kernel is turning everything off , including the vmmc regulator. To make matters worse, vqmmc is set to 1.8 Volts if you use a UHS SD card, and the kernel is not switching it back to 3.3 volts before rebooting, which is required if the Rockchip boot ROM is to communicate with the device. The result is a hung board in MaskROM mode. For the Default kernel (4.4), a patch was carried over from the vendor software (quite literally tagged as "HACK" which added a shutdown routine to the rk mmc driver. It powers vmmc back up, switches vqmmc back to 3.3 volts, then delays for 20 uS or so. It works on default. 7-22: Need to add fix for " echo b > /proc/sysrq-trigger " ETA: 7-22 or 7-23 7-22: Adding device check to make certain there are no complications with the MiQi. Concurrent with sysrq fiq. Complete and uploaded. For Next/Dev kernels, however, it does not work. I don't know the full system that well, so I can't comment as to why just yet. It is also important to note that testing the patch on kernel 4.11/4.12 resulted in a MiQi crash on reboot, wheras I've had confirmed this doesn't appear to be an issue on 4.4. 7-22: It was determined a day or so ago that the issue was the mmc not being powered down before the hack happened. Now that is commanded. 7-22: Initial patch broke MiQi, myself and @Myy worked today on figuring it out, trading kernels and patches. We thought it a good idea to use the device tree platform to discriminate. Fix is now known, adapting patches and moving them from Dev to Next. Implemented 7-23: Rockchip-DEV is now kernel 4.13, reboot patch tested and works. Any expertise in this area would be welcome, I'll update this post as things go on.
  22. Anyone having luck getting firefox quantum to run? I added the ppa and installed it but it crashes immediately.
  23. Whats the correct way to get the Armbian build to spit boot out as a separate fat partition at the start of the image? Im just getting started with Armbian (on tinker board) and want to integrate it into by own build system. I need to generates SD card images with 3 different configs building 3 separate installs sharing a common multiboot 512MB fat boot partition. I dont need the Armbian build to do the multiboot or manage the boot partition at all, I just want to be able to extract the root & boot fs at the end of the build process.
  24. Does anyone know what to do to enable 1920x1200 resolution? I've done the xrandr newmode/addmode and it shows in the display app but doesn't work. At the command line... xrandr --output HDMI-1 --mode 1920x1200_60.00 xrandr: Configure crtc 0 failed The monitor and tinker board support 1920x1200 and it works with tinkeros.
  25. Just started using the thinker board, and got fed up with the OEM builds which brought me here. So I would like to thank everyone for all the hard work, Im sure it can't be easy fixing things blind! Cheers mates. As the Tinkerboard runs hot under load, i run a program that adjusts pwm to adjust fan speed. so I noticed right away when upgrading to 4.13.0 that both soc and gpu thermal zones had broken. I've tried 4.13.1 and 4.13.2 as well they are broken as well. 4.13.x all kick error messages into dmesg as well. root@Asus:/sys/class/thermal# uname -r 4.12.0-rockchip root@Asus:/sys/class/thermal# cat /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone[1-2]/temp 32272 32727 root@Asus:/sys/class/thermal# uname -r 4.13.0-rockchip root@Asus:/sys/class/thermal# cat /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone[0-1]/temp cat: /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp: Invalid argument cat: /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone1/temp: Invalid argument nothermal.log
