can someone please help the idiot (me) to install armbian into internal emmc ?

there is no /dev/data device so install.sh doesn't work after reboot from android or even after two or 51 reboots.

what i did

1.  made micro sd with etcher and Armbian_5.44_S9xxx_Ubuntu_bionic_3.14.29_server_20180729.img. as i can see 3.14 kernel is the only kernel that works with my meecool.

2. copy gxl_p281_2g.dtb or gxl_p212_2g.dtb to sd's root into dtb.img

3 run update with aml_autoscript.zip from android

4. reboot to armbian booted from sd. make new user and so on. ethernet works.

5. reboot again

6. run install.sh that fails with no /dev/data

am i missing something?

My Mecool M8S PRO W Box is bricked now. Thats very curious, because I never try to install it to emmc. I only use the aml autoscript.zip and after that it was bricked. Do you know how to flash it with old firmware? I don't find a button to bring it in recovery mode.

Some say you have press the menu-button while poweron and some say you have to short the reset pins inside the deivice:

I think there are 2 versions/revisions of the Mecool M8S Pro w box from what I picked up elsewhere on the internet. Mine wont install to emmc (well it copies, but wont boot off it, no matter what I try). My experience with it, is in the above article.

Which does cover recovery of them (if you ever need it).

hello try to flash to eMMC without success
it is bricked, only boots from sdcard, the risk is minimal :)

I keep play with it with sdcard....
