Single Armbian image for RK + AML + AW (armhf ARMv7)

Sorry @Virverus I see your AndroidTV stick and since I have a similar device I asked you if you did some tests with another device.

Anyway I tried my device with RK3066 and it didn't work. I know it was crazy, but I didn't lose much by trying.
Thanks.

Try replacing the parameters with the new ones for UART log

dd if=parametr-new.img of=/dev/SD_CARD seek=8192

Hi , no luck , result is the same , including the creation of two log files .

Something else , in my search for images ,answers and clues I stumbled on a small conversation you had in a Radxa forum .

They tried your image on a rockpro with the same result as I. You also mentioned you had difficulties accessing Radxa resources ,

So for sake of completeness : their first rk3188 models where simply called  "rock" and had the exact same hdmi chip as mine ,

the it66121fn and these images boot from sd om my stick , I downloaded yesterday thier latest Lubuntu image and it worked.

I'm connected to a fullhd hdmi monitor.

In 2014 they launched two more models "rock pro" and "rock lite" both of them use the rk618 for hdmi output , their images

do not work anymore on my stick , i tried their latest sd ubuntu_fullhd image , it only partly booted .

So they tested your image on a device with a different hdmi interface than mine .

May need to make changes to the kernel config . I hope to build a new version of the core next week (expand the list of USB modules for networks\audio, and so on). Yes, I have the image of Rock as well works with HDMI. By the way, I use u-boot from  old image.

Hello balbes150,

I've got a minix neo x7 (rk3188 with ubuintu 14.04 on sd card).

I am very interested by your work on armbian for rk 3188.

Tell me if I can help with something.

I tried your images (focal & bullseye) but no luck

Any way, thank you for working for our old hardware :D

can you show a photo of what components are used on this model ? Do you have a UART console ?

I have android TV  "wasser 3.0.6 firmware "

to start the new kernel, I previously completely erased the internal NAND memory (I used the standard tools for USB from RK). But if you don't have the firmware to restore the system to its current state, I don't recommend erasing the internal memory.

Hi,

I do not really want to erase the nand because erasing, flashing the firmware, flashing the update etc it may end with a brick. I already brick a "unbrickeable" device:  tronsmart cx-919:o. That's why I have the ubuntu 14.04 on sd card...

Now I am using my minix with Android TV on holidays with my kids for kids staff (cartoon, etc)

Erasing the nand is it mandatory before using new kernel?

I thought that the kernel was somewhere on the sd card when the device boots on the sd card, no?  There are devices without nand that boot only on sd card (some radxa rock boards I think)

That why I was interested by your work especially your sd card images for rk3188

PS Sorry for my dumm questions (I am quit a newbie:))

When you erase NAND, the regular u-boot in NAND is deleted. This makes the TV box always use fully all u-boot data only from the SD card. I don't know if you need to perform NAND (u-boot) Erasure to run a new kernel on your model or not. I know that for UT2 I had to do this, for full tests and checking new versions of u-boot (they only run if there is nothing in NAND).

add new image for rk3188 (20200719)

Hi , this version runs fine from sd :  https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B99O3A0dDe67UjVGRG14aGVoLVE/edit

The same results as previous , doesn't boot , I tried all versions from this repository.

I wiped nand memory with rkdevtool v2.71 om win10 boot still no boot ,

attached uart file for linux-rk3188-5.6.6-lubuntu uartlinux3188_5.6.6lubuntu.txt

By the way , it seems that ugoos ut1 firmware can run on my stick ( not tested by me )

I correctly understood, this is the log when erased in NAND u-boot (i.e. this is the log of launching u-boot armbian  from the SD card)?

Need an image for the SD card. u-boot in NAND uses a different one, it is not suitable for starting from an SD card. It may be useful in the future, for installing Armbina in NAND.

Yes, I know about these images and use them in UT2 as "donors" for some tasks. :)

By the way, the latest images are compiled using part of the elements (kernel 3.0 and u-boot-old) that are build from their sources (this means i'm  can make changes to the build process).

@guidol  What exactly is your Rock model (they differ in the HDMI chip)?

Yes , I erased nand ( android was completely gone ,didn't boot anymore )and then I booted Armbian from sd and with this log as result

Versions with the 3.0.36 core use the radxa rock core and DTB, and if you run a Lubuntu image, the armbian image should work (they use the same set of files and the core).

It is interesting to check out. Pull three components from the armbian image and replace the versions in the radxa image with them one by one.

Pulling out components

dd if=image_armbian of=u-boot.img skip=64 count=8128

dd if=image_armbian of=parametr.img skip=8192 count=2

dd if=image_armbian of=kernel.img skip=24576 count=32768

we change them one by one and check the launch (it is desirable to fix the UART log and attach it here)

dd if=u-boot.img of=SD_card_image_radxa  seek=64

dd if=parametr.img of=SD_card_image_radxa  seek=8192

dd if=kernel.img of=SD_card_image_radxa  seek=24576
