I'm having the same issue with interfaces and did some digging, it looks like systemd/udev v197 will solve this https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/systemd/PredictableNetworkInterfaceNames/

After adding "extraargs=net.ifnames=0" to /boot/armbianEnv.txt you should have both eth interfaces as eth0 and eth1. WAN becomes eth0 and unfortunately it is associated to the LAN port (LAN led) instead of the WAN one.

Other issue that has been mentioned here: Only the middle USB port works as USB 2.0, the other port doesn't work. Any luck with this issue anyone?

$ lsusb -t
/:  Bus 02.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=xhci-hcd/1p, 5000M
/:  Bus 01.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=xhci-hcd/1p, 480M

Hello guys and gals!
Just received my nanopi4s and was anxious to get it up and running with Armbian.

After I've flashed latest bullseye or focal I just get sys led blinking green twice every second, and no response from WAN/LAN.

Can you please guide me here a bit?

P.S. Device didn't obtain IP from my dhcp server.

Tried jammy edge? That image worked for me.

How much RAM does your nanopi r4s have? There have been issues with the 1GB RAM versions. I've been running armbian on my nanopi r4s 4GB model for over a year and never had any issues at the hardware or OS level with my workload (router).

Could be possible. The 1G version is DDR3 while the 4G is LPDDR4. Was quite a journey to get both configurations merged into the same image. Maybe something broke in the meantime.

Thanks for your replies. I was limited to write one message per day.

So I got this working, but not the way I like it :)
microSD cards that didn't work:
- Samsung EVO Plus 32gb
- SanDisk Ultra Class 10 64gb

Just bought this one, and it's working:
- MRM-Power Class 10 4gb

My theory is that the problem is with fs expansion.

I'd like to get bigger/better card to work.

@poddmo nanopi4s 4gb version with metal radiator case.

P.S. Board booted almost instantly with 4gb card. BTW openwrt images work well with those cards.

P.S.S. FriendlyCore from friendly arm behaves in the same way

Just tested mine with the latest image (buster / current) with 16GB Sandisk Ultra SD card and it seems to work fine: http://ix.io/3Rxb

It is a 1GB model however.

Any chance to get the bootlog over serial?

Hi,

I tried to add options overlays as well ftdfile for the npi-r4s , but seems 1,8-Ghz is max ?

#kernel = 5.18.14-rockchip64

verbosity=1
bootlogo=false
overlay_prefix=rockchip
overlays=rk3399-opp-2ghz
ftdfile=rockchip/rk3399-nanopi-r4s.dtb
rootdev=UUID=83a12c16-47da-45c8-b0ff-3ebd7326dc4c
rootfstype=ext4
console=serial
usbstoragequirks=0x2537:0x1066:u,0x2537:0x1068:u

What is new this does not seem to work ( anymore ).

TiA!
