@tparys Made a simple POC for changed tool, but to get moving, we need to assemble a team which will focus just on this. I hope more of people that recently applied to help, will be able to join here. Other important field that also needs help, and require similar skills, is automated testing.

Take a look how things were done before, check POC and ideas for refactoring.

Happy to help here and there with bash shell scripting, however I believe that @Igor and @lanefu had mentioned that the armbian-config refactor was desired in the Ansible tool, which unfortunately is not in my bag of tricks.

Not sure if that's still the case, but maybe worthwhile asking @Werner nicely to update the description to include that desired experience?

Ansible is not suitable for armbian-config core, but we could call ansible playbooks from it. If / when desirable. Perhaps in the app installer part only? But there container based apps would be best ... Ansible is more desirable in automated testings where @Pavel Milanes CO7WT has experiences with and is looking to push things forward in that area.

IMO, BASH is still a go to tool for armbian-config

yeah was mostly thinking about using ansible for installers etc, but it could do specific armbian-config core tasks... BUT we'd need a wrapper around it in bash for UI.     but i'd view it as something we'd use in a modular fashion rather than build a framework on it
