I am using a NanoPi R1S-H3 that runs on the Allwinner-H3 CPU: https://www.friendlyarm.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=274.

I flashed a copy of Armbian 21.08.1, Buster current 5.10.60 for the NanoPi R1, which has a similar H3 chip.

The R1S-H3 has an onboard SDIO Wi-Fi card that requires the RTL8189ES drivers, which I have loaded in already. Unfortunately, I am unable to use the Wi-Fi card on the device.

I did notice an error: "mmc2: error -22 while initializing SDIO card" which might be the cause. However, I am not too sure on how to go about resolving it.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

Just as a follow up, found a device tree from an Ubuntu image from the manufacturer, copied it over to the device and it seems to have gotten rid of the error. Thanks for the help!

R1 != R1S

Both boards may have a different WiFi Chip and therefore the device tree may not fit.
