BananaPi Pro Debian Wheezy Kernel 3.4.108 Wifi problem

Hello!

I have installed Igors Debian Wheezy Kernel 3.4.108 image on SD-Card for my BananaPi Pro.

All is fine, thanks Igor! (after changing to Sandisk)

But I can't activate the onboard Wifi-module.

 

sudo modprobe ap6210 brings error: FATAL: Module ap6210 not found

 

I tried a lot of thinks, but no result:

What should I do?

Yes, I think so:

But I tried to load this module and this is possible, but no Wifi can activate. See in my first post.

Aha, are you using correct script bin?

 

Is this in place?

Do a test with latest build on a separate SD card with only Wifi enabled. Perhaps on board wifi doesn't work together with LCD / I2S ? It's possible.

Yes, it seems.

 

I renamed the bananapipro.bin to script.bin an copied in the boot-directory. I tried a lot...

;-)

Start with brand new image and without any additional hardware. Switch configuration from banana to bananapro, reboot, load wifi driver.

 

Than proceed with adding hardware and functionality.

Ok. I want to do it correct. How should I switch the configuration? I'm not realy sure. Sorry!

Rename and save the script.bin in \boot, take the bananapipro.bin from \boot\bin and copy as script.bin to \boot ?

With re-linking.

ln -sf /boot/bin/bananapipro.bin /boot/script.bin

 

Ok., I have done this. First and second booting seems ok. I had changed the root password, re-linked and rebooted.

And now I have this:

You need to load all those modules and they should be present by default. If not ... bug.

Hello Igor!

That sounds not so positive.

 

I have to prepare an UART-cable-connection to my PC to log the full boot sequence, right? Ok., I can do that. So I can save the UART-output into a txt-file. That's it?

 

How can I change the loglevel in boot.cmd? Is it a text-file, or with a linux command?

 

Sorry, I'm not at home and the BPro isn't here. I'm busy until tommorow evening.

Yes, just post full boot sequence.

 

edit /boot/boot.cmd

alter loglevel and console=ttyS0,115000

save and convert

mkimage -C none -A arm -T script -d /boot/boot.cmd /boot/boot.scr

 

Take your time. No rush.

I catured the boot log in different kinds. I think the last one (V3) is the best, because editing "console=tty1" to "console=ttyS0,115000" produced a lot of rabbish in the terminal window. So I changed the loglevel from 1 to 9.

I guess the problem emerge because we removed the duplicate driver (Lemaker's) from the source. Now FEX need some adaptations. I hope I do it correctly (if not there are few combinations to tests):

Hard step: we need to double check GPIO numbers and get this done trough FEX configuration. It should work but I don't know why it's not working.

 

Easy step: add apxxx driver back to source and recompile the kernel.

 

Necessary step: try wifi with some other / stock / older image that we can rule out hardware defects.
