Please post build logs and build script output.

suggests errors related to filesystem or partition table.

 

Do you just want the output of compile redirected ?

Where are the build logs.

The attached logs are one for each of the 4.9 and 3.4.113 builds - both have the same problem

The attached files are NOT .txt files, they are the gziped tar files of the build logs as created by the build, but the forum software will not allow me to attach them without renaming.

Though do not know if it applies to your case, in a similar situation with my OPi ONE, I just used another SD card and it was booting ok.

(the other SD was even the exact same brand/model as the first one.. so it could be some write issue)

Have you tried a second new SD?

I have used multiple SD cards. 

Further the Same card works with 5.20 images.

At least u-boot is different.

 

And as long as burning process might be different and isn't verified it's not worth the time to check. I lost a few hours of my life hunting software bugs until I realized that my build host's card reader started to die. That was the moment I understood why a mandatory verify after earch burning process is a great idea.

But @dhlii uses Trusty based build host, so it's possible that some debootstrap changes (i.e. UUID related) broke backwards compatibility with Trusty

Perhaps we should add one IF and simply deny building if non-supported host is detected ?

We already do something like this for anything other than Trusty and x64 Xenial, and Trusty should still be fine for compiling most of the kernels.

The thing is - UUID related changes are unlikely to break filesystem or partition creation.

Can you please upload one of your images somewhere (if it doesn't contain any sensitive info added at customization stage)?

I thought trusty was supported ?

If you want me to use another build host I can put together a VM for whatever you want. 

I would really love it if builds worked on debian, and I guess at some point I could look into that myself.

Supported, but not actively tested, especially full image creation part.

Since most of cross-compilers are not present in official Debian repository (at least for current stable release - Jessie), there were problems supporting this configuration.

 

Regardless, what do you want me to try to build under ?

I have a xenail Buld environment now and I am getting the same problem. 

 

I did notice that during build I am prompted for a user/password to connect to github, 

I am just returning for each of these and it seems to continue OK, and I did not notice other errors in the build. 

But I end up with something that does not run.
