Hi.Can you help me fix this problem. Can't use usbwifi wl167g(need like reciever).  Network-manager show(wifi enable) but firmware missing.  Tried to install RT73_linux_STA_DRV1.0.3.6, have error, when step make, rtmp_main.c error "-march=i686".

In new version desktop ubuntu wifi  working, but shows slow video(I guess many improvements "use" a lot of resources).

are you sure you have a wl167g v2 with RT73 Chipset? https://wikidevi.com/wiki/ASUS_WL-167g_v2 = rt73usb

because there is also a

v1https://wikidevi.com/wiki/ASUS_WL-167g_v1 = rt2500usb

and

v3https://wikidevi.com/wiki/ASUS_WL-167g_v3 = RTL8188SU

which version of armbian do you use? legacy or mainline kernel?

I dont know if it helps, but normally installed is the package "armbian-firmware"

There seem to be a "bigger" package called "armbian-firmware-full" and a special package for realtek called "firmware-realtek"

armbian-firmware - Linux firmware
armbian-firmware-full - Linux firmware-full
firmware-realtek - Binary firmware for Realtek wired/wifi/BT adapters

You could try to install firmware-realtek or armbian-firmware-full for getting the firmware of your rt73

Just install firmware. Nothing else. I guess i need firmware rt73.bin. And i have it. but  doesn't work. I tried manually add module: modprobe rt73usb, then rtx00usb, rtx00lib and was loaded without errors.

I download rt73 and tried install it, before, tried install linux-firmware all-043.deb, firmware-ralink all.deb.  I think problem with  modul rt2x00.  Dmesg show :

rt2x00lib_request_firmware: Error - failed to request Firmware.

usb 2-1.4: Product: 802.11 bg WLAN
usb 2-1.4: Manufacturer: Ralink

Login as root and run:

apt install armbian-firmware-full

or manually it that won't work - check this: http://mitchtech.net/realtek-wireless-dongle-rt3070-on-the-raspberry-pi/

Remember to reboot or reload the module.

I tried install armbian-firmware-full. Nothing happens,   wifiusb firmware missing. But i can see firmware rt73.bin in /lib/firmware/

I think the rt73.bin isnt the right firmware.... it seems that you need the rt2870.bin
The user @HarfTarf did found the solution for the "problem" here:
