A question about Armbian version

Hi,

I get this line on my welcome screen of my Orange Pi Zero:

Welcome to ARMBIAN 5.38 stable Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS 3.4.113-sun8i

When I checked the download page, I see this as the file name:
Armbian_5.38_Orangepizero_Debian_stretch_next_4.14.14

I got confused about the numbers 3.4.113 and 4.14.14
What do they mean? Is my installation behind the latest version? Can I upgrade to it?

Your version is a armbian LTS (Long Time Service) Ubuntu with a legacy kernel version 3.4.113

The other download is a Debian Stretch with an actual mainline-kernel version 4.14.14 (maybe sometime 4.17.x)

The legacy kernel 3.4.113 will run out of support (or is already unsupported).

So your installation is behind the latest version and

NO you cant upgrade directly, because there is a difference between Ubuntu and debian.

BUT maybe there is an upgrade-path to the newer Ubuntu Xenial with kernel 4.14.14

A image for a fresh install is here

https://dl.armbian.com/orangepizero/archive/Armbian_5.38_Orangepizero_Ubuntu_xenial_next_4.14.14.7z

and there is a DEV(eloper)-Ubuntu image of the new coming Ubuntu Bionic with Kernel 4.17
https://dl.armbian.com/orangepizero/nightly/Armbian_5.47.180622_Orangepizero_Ubuntu_bionic_dev_4.17.2.7z

So maybe its easier to do a fresh install depending which additional services you did install onto your LTS Ubuntu.

You also have to check if all your services or additional hardware is supported behind the kernel 3.4.113
