Quick question, what happened to Debian Stretch images for Renegade, it seems there is only ubuntu images for download now.

Does armbian perfer ubuntu rootfs for server images now?

No, this board is not officially supported and nobody cares about the situation.

https://www.armbian.com/download/?device_support=No+official+support+(CSC)

Technically it is per board property, defined here: https://github.com/armbian/build/blob/master/config/boards/renegade.conf#L10-L11

working with a guy on the renegade - so at least one person cares...

challenge is the upstream at the moment, but it's a decent board, and early work shows it's a good performer -- https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=libre-computer-renegade&num=1

Libre Computer there is spreading their efforts with the tritium allwinner devices...

It was not meant that way. We have certain minimum requirements to support a board and those are not met. We need more than one board and somebody accountable. And someone as a backup.

I know. We do our own, much more detail, inspection: https://github.com/ThomasKaiser/sbc-bench/blob/master/Results.md :P

Well, Allwinner is ... common. Those boards have some shortcomings which makes them less interesting than siblings - lack of a power regulator (impact on heating, power consumption and performance) and micro USB powering (stability).

Understood - time and resources...

Always appreciate the efforts of the team here across the supported platforms.

No doubt...

Allwinner is interesting, but the chips are cheap, relatively fast, and the HW community offers a rich diversity of platforms...

Did some work on the H3 based Beelink-X2 a couple of years back - was always impressed by that big hunk of steel on the two I picked up in Shenzen - why use aluminum or copper when one has... no wonder they ran warm, but even then, once heat soaked, they were at least consistent.

It had a decent amount of RAM and the eMMC - nice TV box...
