@rafman I have only been working with the sdcard, not the emmc. I do know the current idea I proposed is definitely not in my abilities will probably just leave it as is - it does the job just fine.

Since the H616 is supposed to be very similar to H313 - try this image that @rafman made. Would be great to know if it works. Just load to SD and see if it boots.

@rafman would it be possible to re-patch the x96q image after running a script on it that seemingly breaks it? so basically: load the sd boot on x96q / q1 run script (that seems to break booting) re-patch x96q (then reboot) possible?

@rafman thanks! boots up like a champ. getting further on my other issue (dietpi) but will try and sort that out in their forum. If I wanted to try and get an alternative image to boot on this Q1/H313 - what are the core boot files I need to copy from the image? Or is that just a non-starter approach? Cheers!

@rafman the image you compiled for me for the Q1 is ubuntu based - are you able to share the debian based one from your previous posts?

@rafman oh excellent. thanks for the tip. Still getting acquainted with this. I was just going for consistency since I had another old box running it. considering I can get the Q1 for $40 CDN on amazon - its a really good deal to put together a quick pihole for a friends and family. I feel like the tv-box producers are missing an opportunity in not building their own armbian version will full support. They would sell more boxes!

@rafman I have been trying to convert this image to a DietPi install (they have a script) and I have managed to get over a few hurdles and challenges along the way (no_pubkey issues - I bypassed with "deb [trusted=yes] ") but I've hit a wall. Can you shed some light on this? I am not having any luck sorting out the diversion issue. Can the image you compiled be done without usr-merge? Or is this more-so an issue of them having to upgrade their script? Just waiting for dietpi forum approval so I can bounce it off them over there. @rafman Success! took a few tries to write the image - decompressing it first seemed to make etcher happier about it. (inside the archive the .img extension was missing) lack of bt or wifi is no big deal as mainly looking to repurpose some of these into pi-holes. Will let you know how I make out with the other box I have. I have a mix of some boxes because was using some for remote android signage players for a customer, and the signage app did not perform well on some boxes. Plus just other past tinkering. edit: so just tested what was supposed to be an H313 (best I can tell from my buying history) - no dice. opened it up, it's an S905W. It was from primecables (branded) and board is a TX3MINI-P If there is any other hardware that you spot or want tested, let me know. I don't mind buying & testing pre-built images. That much I have some time for. Zero programming chops here. Batch files at best.

@rafman loading on sdcard and booting. currently boots android just fine by default. identical pcb and chips to your Q1. I also have another H313 box willing to experiment with for the cause. Currently have another older box booting off sd just fine. (V88 Piano - using DietPi Rock64)

@rafman I have the identical Q1 box however every image I flash will not boot on it. Anything I am missing?
