  1. Hi, everyone

Did any of you set up a VPN server on PINE64 with L2TP/IPsec protocol?

I tried onece with strongSwan and xl2tpd, but didn't go well; syslog said "not supported protocol", didn't make the tunnel, and some kernel modules might be needed.
The list of required kernel modules are here: https://wiki.strongswan.org/projects/strongswan/wiki/KernelModules

At the same time, I thought the listed kernel modules are somehow usual ones and should be built-in kernel itself. But, I'm not sure whether they are built-in or not; I'm a beginner in Linux kernel.

If any of you set up a VPN server on PINE64, some advice will be appreciated.

    Thank you in advance.

  2. I also have a similar problem; my pine64 doesn't have some kernel modules required for a L2TP/IPsec VPN server with strongSwan + xl2tpd: https://wiki.strongswan.org/projects/strongswan/wiki/KernelModules.

My kernel is longsleep, Xenial, but not the one included in Arabian Ubuntu image; I installed my Ubuntu with the image distributed on the pine64's official wiki: http://wiki.pine64.org/index.php/Main_Page#Curated_Pine_A64_.28A64.2B.29_OS_Images.

    My questions are:

    • Is it possible to use Armbian build tools to build the only missing kernel modules to use on my pine64? (I don't want to reinstall entire system from the beginning now, it would be big work.)
    • If possible, how can I achieve that?
    • if impossible, I may reinstall my pine64 with Armbian's Ubuntu image. When that is the case, can I built and use the required kernel modules for strongSwan?
