  4. MECOOL KP1 is a Full HD projector equipped with the MECOOL KD5 HDMI dongle powered by an Amlogic S805X2 quad-core Cortex-A35 processor with 1GB RAM and 8GB flash and running Android 11 for TV. Most Android projectors are equipped with a low-end processor accompanied by an outdated version of Android, and while the Amlogic S805X2 SoC found in the KP1 is not a workhorse, Android 11 for TV OS should make it useable for a few more years, and it might even be possible to upgrade the TV stick down the road. 5. Hey all, trying to throw a Linux distro on an Android TV Box I found at Goodwill. Not too much info on what company makes it, what the specs are etc. -- it's unfortunately too old to connect to the Google Play Store at this point (running android Jellybean). The only markings on it are on the top of the case saying RBOX, but I have yet to find any other device like it on any site. It's a red and black square case, for what that's worth. I also haven't been able to boot to the BIOS/bootloader menu, even holding the reset button -- all that happens is the little Android mascot says its loading then after a few seconds it "dies" (red triangle-shaped thing above the body) only to reboot again. I can boot to the normal OS just fine, but cant do much once there. As such, I haven't found a way to boot off of a USB stick, SD card, etc. just whatever is built in to it. Any help, advice, or info is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  6. I know I shouldn't have, but I bought today a Sunvell H3 2GB RAM + 16GB ROM TV Box. I have no idea if this will run Armbian someday, but I had to try...
  7. Google released the first Android 13 Developer preview in February, and we know quite a lot about Android 13 including virtualization support, as well as security and privacy updates. But the company has now released Android 13 Beta for TV (aka Android 13 for Android TV) for Google ADT-3 developer kit and the Android Emulator for TV in Android Studio. The beta release allows app developers to test their apps and provide feedback on the latest release before it is released to customer devices. Google does not provide any changelog specific to Android 13 for Android TV, but you’ll find the OS image for ADT-3 and installation instructions on the release page. Mishaal Rahman tried it on his ADT-3 box expecting some new features, but he noted that expanded PiP support, low power standby ( which could disable wakelocks and cut off network access to apps in order to preserve [...] The post Android 13 Beta for TV available for Google ADT-3 devkit appeared first on CNX Software - Embedded Systems News. 9. I have an MXIII 4k box with armbian 5.44 ubuntu server running on it. Is there a way I can power the box on when applying 5V to it rather than pushing the power button? The project I am working on will restrict access to the box and it will be powered over eithernet.
  10. Hello is there a chance to run manjaro arm server / desktop on tv box mxq pro 4k amilogic s905x? or how does the process of building such a system look like?
  11. Hello, I have an old Android TV Box (affectionately named RBOX) -- having trouble finding any specs or hardware information for it, and I'm trying to see if I can throw on a Linux distro to turn it into a micro-server (either via USB or SD Card). Has anyone ever seen one of these, know what kind of hardware is in it? (CPU, firmware, etc.?) Any reccomendations on which distro to use? I tried Bullseye Armbian to no avail.
  12. Hello guys! I have android TV box called netup with PCB called S905X inside of box. First of all i installed TWRP. Then i tried to use manuals, but my PCB doesn't have reset button. In android i couldn't press "update" and run zip script. Software didn't see any zip. Screen was empty. Then i somehow killed android and got a brock with TWRP. Then - i found zip file with libreelec firmware. I uploaded zip file TWRP-LibreELEC-S905X-1GB-8.2 and pushed update >> boot partition into TWRP. And it wrote this zip to boot, and now i have libreelec and it works. But i need armbian (i would like to have small server for IOT, not Kodi). Please give me some advises how i can flash armbian to my PCB without ability to press reset button ? Is it possible to compile the same zip which i can upload via twrp ? in that zip i have: folder META-INF folder system dtb.img kernel.img Thanks for your time. I hope somebody would help me and give some basic ideas what to do next?

  15. Hello there, I have a problem. I've just received my new MXQ Pro 4K 5G, which was listed on Aliexpress as having a RK3228A. However, when I received it, I noticed the multitool SD card I had flashed wouldn't boot. I got Cpu-Z and noticed my board has an Amlogic p212 instead of the Rockchip I was promised. What should I do? Is there a way to run Armbian on this bootleg TV box?
  16. How can I force the resolution on these boards? My board is RK3318 (x88 pro 10) The board is not automatically getting the maximum resolution the HDMI monitor can show. Is Armbian preventing this somewhere? Can I set this somewhere I am no expert. Any help would b appreciated. u-boot? armbianEnv.txt?

  18. Hi Jock, Your replies are keeping this forum active. My box is not rooted, however can boot by multitool. Can we dump tv box boot.img or extract tv box kernel using the multitool so that i can get dtb. I can see /proc/partitions but not as "by-name"
  19. Hi, I've got some kind of development TV box based on S905X, but I don't see any push button on whole board except power on button. There is no separate button or even AV socket. I looked everywhere and no idea. Do you guys have any other way to run multiboot on this type of board? Just to let you know, I was able to run Armbian on other devices but with some annoying Mediatek WiFi chipset which doesn't have proper drivers. You can see some picture below for probematic board. https://ibb.co/2K55RTk

  21. Hi, I have a tv box (mxq pro 4k 5g with rk3228a chipset). The wifi chipset is sv6152p. The armbian image "Armbian_21.08.1_Rk322x-box_buster_legacy_4.4.194_xfce_desktop.img.xz" works on it with the wifi driver ssv6x5x. I want to use librelec on it. When i install unofficial libreelec for rk3229/rk3228 box (kernel 4.4.194) the wifi don't works. The driver for ssv6051 is loading at startup but wifi don't works. Can somebody say to me how to compile ssv6x5x for libreelec. I don't know how to cross compile it. which source do i use : https://github.com/khadas/android_hardware_wifi_icomm_drivers_ssv6xxx or https://github.com/paolosabatino/ssv6x5x How to proceed. Thank's a lot. Bests regards.

  23. Hello Armbian'ers, I'm a veteran Debian user and occasional system administrator, but - have zero experience with TV set-top boxes / media streamers. I now find myself in a position of needing one: In a rental apartment, I have a wall-mounted TV with HDMI in but an old, custom, non-upgradable vendor-specific OS and no network connectivity. To be honest - I don't particularly need my box to be ARM-based, nor do I need my OS distribution to be Debian. I mean, that would be the nicest, since my desktop is Devuan Chimaera (~= Debian 11), but I would definitely settle on any reasonable Linux distro. Anyway, my questions: 1. How can I educate myself about my different options? Manufacturers (I don't mind ones which are relatively unknown in the west), key features which might not be obvious to a PC user, buyers' guides etc.? 2. If I get some specific recommendation of a TV box - how do I evaluate it (reviews, fine-print, benchmarks, compatibility lists etc.)? I'm not asking you guys to write up an encyclopedia for me as an answer to this question, but rather for a few pointers and directions to follow, to resources off- and maybe on this site. PS - I've read this and it seems quite discouraging regarding boxes with Armbian support - either it's essentially discontinued (AmLogic) or there's missing info :-(
