BusDriver Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 Using my Orange Pi Zero 512 H2 I want wo build a POE-powered display, displaying the current time, time until the bus leaves and ideally some information on bus schedules I can pull from the API of the local bus network. What I currently have is an Orange Pi Zero 512 H2 and a POE injector where I can insert any voltage as it does not run with standard POE voltage. My plan is to buy this e-paper display https://www.waveshare.com/wiki/7.5inch_e-Paper_HAT_(B) and have the Orange Pi display a simple HTML page. So my first question is: Would this display run, would it be a good choice for my setup? Are there any similar projects (yes, I searched) that I missed? Board: Orangepi Zero
BusDriver Posted May 4, 2020 Author Posted May 4, 2020 Starting point was this display https://github.com/jamct/DoorsignEPD which is based on ESP32 and the same (but monochrome) display. While this display is battery-powered and has to go to sleep mode, my planned setup is an OrangePi running permanently and my plan is to use Armbian Buster. If it makes things easy I can provide the page to be displyed as a PNG-file which would be updated e.g. every 30 seconds. What I am still unsure: Can I connect the mentioned e-Paper display to an Orange Pi Zero 512 H2 and how do I have to configure it?
