Help I've been hacked!

I exposed my cubox to the WAN and some **** has hacked me and changed my root password, how can I reset it? I've tried hitting shift on boot but I don't get a grub menu.

 

I'm using the debian jessie image.

You're better off mounting the image on another machine to perform the forensics rather than booting off it.
