Tinkerboard: Background music on Retro Pie using Debian Stretch (basic build uploaded)

So those of us working on getting Retro Pie working on the Tinkerboard have run into a road block. Perhaps someone here might have a clue on this?

Current using these instructions to build Retro Pie using the legacy Armbian Debian (4.4)

https://github.com/Tinkerpie/Armbian-Setup

And for audio over HDMI you need to currently make a change in /usr/share/alsa/alsa.conf setting defaults.pcm.card to 1

When this script linked down below:

https://github.com/Rydra/bgm-for-es

The BGM script takes over all audio so for instance the audio in games does not work or any other audio such as audio from the video snap files.

I also get this error message when I go into command prompt:

"lv10: VolumeControl::init() - Failed to find mixer elements!"

If I "force" Retro Pie in settings to output to HDMI that error message goes away but however the issue still remains. I also also gotten ALSA error messages as well but I can't remember what they are sadly. Is there potentially a ALSA driver issue? Or is it something else?

Thank you for your time and all your kind help!

Edit: Here's a basic ROTT build for anyone who can help figure out this issue. This is done by Crash and the others of the ROTT team.
