Shlt Happens Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 Hello, Using Vanilla Jessie latest image and used sd to sata/usb script to put everything on an 8gb usb stick. Everything works fine. When i add a 2.5 " sata hard drive system does not boot. Green light goen on, disk starts to spin and after a couple of seconds disk stops spinning and only red light stays on. I tried connecting sata disk after booting and i can see the disk through fdisk -l. (I put the disk on power after booting the system) I use this adapter:Power supply adapter 12V/1A , bought from olimex. Any idea what might be the case?Maybe there is not enough power to start hard disk while booting? Thanks in advance.
Nick Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 Have you tried plugging a serial port adapter into the UART to get an idea of why it isn't booting?

Nick Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 Section "2.6 Interacting with the board" on page 11 of the User manual would be a good start Are you running windows or linux on your PC? You will need to run something like putty or minicom on the host PC to use that cable.
