pzw Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 Hello, I am looking for a dimensional (mechanical) drawing of the OPi Zero. I have found the dwg files at the orangepi website (see attached rar archive) but I am running into issues figuring out what the exact locations are of the holes & headers. Does anyone have a drawing like that? Or maybe an AutoCad wizard can help me with this using the original files.. Thanks! ORANGE_PI-Zero-V1_1_PCB-DWG.rar
renaudrenaud Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 Hello, I do not exactly understand your question: you have the Autocad files, you just have to use the dwg, no ? If you do not have autocad, you can even go on their website and see the files online, and you have a tool to measure (seems there is a factor 1000 error on the scale, but not a real problem). https://a360.autodesk.com/viewer/#
pzw Posted February 6, 2017 Author Posted February 6, 2017 I have indeed the autocad files. I have draftsight to open them, but am not really capable to get a decent measurement from it. I have tried by selecting the elements and calculating using the coordinates, but some of the "measurements" seem a bit strange. Therefore I was hoping someone has a drawing / can add to the autocad files the dimensions / locations of the headers etc..
renaudrenaud Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 Ok, so go to the website indicated and you have a tool to measure. I've tried it and the measure indicated are ok (I only use a ruler for the moment waiting for the electronic caliper in few days). If I do something on the CAD files, I will not use Autocad but freeware instead. 1
pzw Posted February 7, 2017 Author Posted February 7, 2017 @renaudrenaud; Thanks. I have used the ruler and it is a lot easier for sure!
renaudrenaud Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 Do you want to know the dimensions to create box for 3D printers? If yes, there is already something in thingiverse I've already printed, working fine : 1 - http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1986658 2 - http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1918590 You can get the files and open them with freecad for example, so there you can grab the measurements. 1
willmore Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 I have printed and am using the case by Farrukh. The hole locations seemed accurate. Also, the case is very, very cute. I printed it in orange and white--but the opposite of the render.
pzw Posted February 10, 2017 Author Posted February 10, 2017 The reason that I needed the dimensions is that I wanted to create an eagle footprint for a pcb I'm designing.
caracalla Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 I've opened Autocad drawing files you've attached and I can tell that the dimension unit for this drawing is one mil (also known as thou) which stands for thousandth of an inch. Using this information you can retrieve all dimensions you need from the provided drawing. There are number of DWG viewers provided by Autodesk and you can find them on http://www.autodesk.com/products/dwg/viewers.
