  1. Seems like with Armbian 5.77 and kernel 5.0 wifi runs kinda stable. Did the filename for the nvram txt change? See dmesg output below where it failed to load the file with radxa or rockpi-4b in the name. Despite the errors about the backplane wifi seems to run stable this time.
  2. I found two more issues on this board. 1: USB Storage. Using the below shown adapter cable to connect a crucial bx500 ssd to the RockPi. Initial connection takes a while. As in dmesg showing that the dis is connected instantly, but showing the partition only after round about half a minute. However, the real problem is, that issuing a reboot causes the neither the disk, nor the adapter cable to be seen. Physically detaching and re-attaching it brings it back. Unplugging the RockPi from the power source also works. // EDIT: This is on the usb3 Ports. // EDIT2: On the USB2 Ports the disk is available even after reboot. NOTE: On the nanopi m4 the same adapter cable and ssd work without a flaw. dmesg lsusb -vvv 2: shutdown -h now The OS goes down, but the system does not power off. The green LED stays on, the Ethernet LED shows activity and hdmi display looks like i smashed a hammer into the monitor. Unfortunately I don't have a serial console adapter so I can't debug this issue. // EDIT: I notice the same heat raise @mitag has mentioned. even though I have a PI-Fan connected to the 5V GPIO Pins and attached to the heat sink, which usually keeps the RockPi very cool
  3. So, makes no difference whether I'm connected to a 5GHz AP or to a 2.4GHz AP.
  4. Test done. fresh build (Armbian_5.77_Rockpi-4b_Ubuntu_bionic_dev_4.20.13.img) Nothing was changed after building the image, except for coping the files as suggested. I was watching syslog (tail -f) while I waited for it to happen. But couldn't see anything unusual when it started. Perhaps it has to do with the Fritzbox I am connecting to (5GHz) ? I'll try using an older android phone as AP to see if that makes a change. If you guys have suggestions on how to debug it further to provide additional valuable info, please let me know.
  5. Just building a fresh image right now. BTW, this is my compile line. git pull && ./compile.sh docker KERNEL_ONLY=no KERNEL_CONFIGURE=no BUILD_DESKTOP=no BRANCH=dev RELEASE=bionic BOARD=rockpi-4b [ o.k. ] Done building [ /root/armbian/output/images/Armbian_5.77_Rockpi-4b_Ubuntu_bionic_dev_4.20.13.img ] Will test in the evening. and report back.

  7. Let me try these. will report back
  8. Further Info on the above mentioned issue. I just downgraded the firmware to 190218 copied the files over again and rebooted. round about 20 minutes after the reboot the dmesg flood starts with this: [Sun Mar 10 19:31:30 2019] brcmfmac: brcmf_sdio_hostmail: mailbox indicates firmware halted [Sun Mar 10 19:31:37 2019] brcmfmac: brcmf_sdio_bus_rxctl: resumed on timeout [Sun Mar 10 19:31:37 2019] brcmfmac: brcmf_sdio_checkdied: firmware trap in dongle [Sun Mar 10 19:31:40 2019] brcmfmac: brcmf_sdio_bus_rxctl: resumed on timeout [Sun Mar 10 19:31:40 2019] brcmfmac: brcmf_sdio_checkdied: firmware trap in dongle [Sun Mar 10 19:31:40 2019] brcmfmac: brcmf_cfg80211_get_station: GET STA INFO failed, -110
  9. I used Network Manager to connect to the Wifi. At first it seemed work. but after a while dmesg gets flooded with these messages. [Sun Mar 10 12:45:13 2019] brcmfmac: brcmf_proto_bcdc_query_dcmd: brcmf_proto_bcdc_msg failed w/status -110 [Sun Mar 10 12:45:15 2019] brcmfmac: brcmf_proto_bcdc_query_dcmd: brcmf_proto_bcdc_msg failed w/status -110 [Sun Mar 10 12:45:15 2019] brcmfmac: brcmf_cfg80211_get_station: GET STA INFO failed, -110 [Sun Mar 10 12:45:18 2019] brcmfmac: brcmf_proto_bcdc_query_dcmd: brcmf_proto_bcdc_msg failed w/status -110 [Sun Mar 10 12:45:20 2019] brcmfmac: brcmf_proto_bcdc_query_dcmd: brcmf_proto_bcdc_msg failed w/status -110 [Sun Mar 10 12:45:20 2019] brcmfmac: brcmf_cfg80211_get_station: GET STA INFO failed, -110 [Sun Mar 10 12:45:23 2019] brcmfmac: brcmf_proto_bcdc_query_dcmd: brcmf_proto_bcdc_msg failed w/status -110
  10. Getting the latest armbian-firmware fixed it. Seems my build had an older version. Wifi seems to be available now
  11. yes. The image was build on Wednesday with a fresh git pull using docker. The actual compile options I can't provide currently though. As I did it on my work pc to which I don't have access right now.
  12. Yeah I actually missed out that part. My bad. However, that didn't work for me. After copying the files and rebooting I get this in dmesg. $ dmesg | grep -i sdio [ 2.424208] mmc0: new ultra high speed SDR104 SDIO card at address 0001 [ 7.256738] brcmfmac: brcmf_fw_alloc_request: using brcm/brcmfmac43455-sdio for chip BCM4345/9 [ 7.300520] brcmfmac mmc0:0001:1: Direct firmware load for brcm/brcmfmac43455-sdio.txt failed with error -2 [ 8.304313] brcmfmac: brcmf_sdio_htclk: HT Avail timeout (1000000): clkctl 0x50
  13. Hi Guys, haven't used the board in a couple months and just wanted to set it up again. I tried the 4.4 image as well as the nightly build (from january?) and a self built version (Armbian_5.76_Rockpi-4b_Ubuntu_bionic_dev_4.20.13). The 4.4 Image wouldn't boot at all for me (maybe my sd card was acting up? don't know) the nightly image would boot up but no wifi the selfbuild image boots up too but also no wifi Reading this thread I noticed there was some talk about wifi being unstable and that this issue got fixed. Makes me wonder which driver needs to be loaded in order to get the wlan0 interface. I have tried all the rtl* modules already without success. So do I have to get the driver from https://github.com/lwfinger/rtl8723au or https://github.com/lwfinger/rtl8188eu and compile it manually?
