  1. Great stuff, Igor. That did it, thank you very much Regards, Thorsten
  2. Hi, exact the same boot loop here with my M1 and the latest Armbian Focal. I have a little server running here since years currently with Armbian 21.05.6 Bionic (Linux 5.4.88-sunxi). Only problem with it was, that the GUI freezes after about 15 minutes when HTOP is running in a terminal window of the GUI, but the rest of the system was running further. The system always boots well with a keyboard and a rtl-sdr stick plugged to the USB. Now with the latest Armbian Focal I get this boot loop, when at least one USB device is plugged. Armbian only boots if nothing is plugged to the USB. Is it a bootloader problem? Regards, Thorsten
  3. Ok, used sudo locale-gen sudo update-locale LANG=de_DE.UTF-8 Now everything works fine again. But it seems, that armbian-config does something wrong with the locales setting. It shows emty brackets at "Personal -> Locales" although de_DE.UTF-8 is set. Thank you for the valuable hint with the kernel bug. Looking forward to the next version (hopefully running) Regards, Thorsten
  4. Ok, installed the legacy 4.19-84-sunxi kernel and the taskbar reappeared Nevertheless some things are strange. When I try to start the "Terminal Emulator" or "Armbian config" from the menu, nothing happens and syslog gave the following messages: Jan 19 15:39:30 localhost dbus-daemon[1451]: [session uid=1000 pid=1451] Activating via systemd: service name='org.gnome.Terminal' unit='gnome-terminal-server.service' requested by ':1.47' (uid=1000 pid=2102 comm="/usr/bin/gnome-terminal.real ") Jan 19 15:39:30 localhost systemd[1327]: Starting GNOME Terminal Server... Jan 19 15:42:16 localhost systemd[1327]: Failed to start GNOME Terminal Server. It seems something is wrong with the locales. I generated de_DE.UTF-8 in armbian-config, but locale shows all other than de_DE.UTF-8...
  5. Hmmm, didn't spot such a warning message neither in dmesg nor in syslog. Can i simply switch to such a kernel through the "Other" menu in armbian-config? -> Yes, I can
  6. Hi Igor, thanks for the efforts. Let me know if you need furher infos/logs...
  7. Hi, yesterday i did as usual an apt-get update/upgrade on my Armbian 19.11.3 (on a good old and always well working Bananapi M1). After that the desktop starts, but without showing the taskbar anymore. It was some kind of invisible, when i clicked the the upper left corner, the menu drops down. Unfortunately nearly nothing starts by clicking. The preferences are shown without any icons. Ok, time for a fresh install. I took the latest stable image Armbian Bionic 19.11.6 and put it on a SD card. System starts in console mode, i did all the setup stuff and installed the desktop. But the fresh installed desktop also started without the taskbar. Same issue as with the predecessor installation. Here ist the diagnostic information: http://ix.io/27OW Any hints? I saw, that with the last apt-get update some desktop stuff (armbian-desktop) has been updated. Maybe some bugs there? Thank you in advance. Regards, Thorsten
  8. The 20cm long USB plug to jack adapter i used seems to cause the problem. After replacing it with a new cable, the interruptions has gone. So no software/kernel problem it seems :-) Thanks for your attention and the efforts with Armbian. Regards, Thorsten (and a Happy New Year by the way :-) )
  9. Will do some further experiments and keep you in the loop. Thanks so far :-)
  10. An external powered USB hub didn't solve the problem. Same problem. The kernel disconnects the USB spontaneously and i don't know why (if there is some EMI, the EMI was there before, so why are the newer kernel so "sensitive"?)... : Dec 28 18:06:36 localhost systemd[1]: Starting RTL-SDR Remote Server...
