  1. Dedicated website for TwisterOS Armbian is now On; https://twisteros.com/twisterarmbian.html default password is: asdasd
  2. Based on some beta testing we've been doing on TwisterOS Armbian beta 2, seems like the occasional freezing that has been happening on firefox and the OS, it's mesa development related and it's being fixed. Recommended to update/upgrade thru CLI frequently. In the meantime, we've experimenting also with vivaldi arm64 and widevine H/W for it.
  3. Respectfully, you have been obviously misinformed. TwisterOS Armbian edition aka Armbian-Reforged is not for gaming only. It's the first out-of-the-box OS solution I've seen for RK3399 SBC's which doesn't required to build/compile/patch code to make it work as intended, that doesn't require to be stuck in legacy 4.4 kernel to have some HW and VPU drivers for it, that doesn't require to be a linux guru with 20 years of experience in the field to be able to use it either. It does come with great goodies too: Panfrost HW acceleration for Linux Desktop, Firefox browser heavily optimized to fully support T-864 Mali GPU, VPU drivers for MPV and Kodi which were built from scratch so can be used on a Linux Desktop to play smooth 1080p h.264 MP4 video files and it works also with mainline kernel. I can keep on, it also boots from uSD, eMMC and NVMe drives, it's visually appealing and behaves like an regular Linux Desktop OS for the general audience, enthusiast user base and specially beginners. It has themes built-in to resemble Mac OS, Windows XP, Windows 7, Ubuntu-desktop, Windows 10. It also comes with several OpenGL games included for (Panfrost OpenGL 2.1 only). It also comes with built-in some useful utilities such as Wine desktop, BOX86, etcher, remmina, Kodi and midnight commander, Kazam, etc, etc This distribution has been made with the efforts of many so Armbian can reach broader audiences in a clearly attempt to counter the Raspberry Pi syndrome that has taken the ARM SBC world by storm. Peace Out. Last but not least, moving this topic to a general chit chat section, I'd consider it like a total insult. No offence intended. Maybe we are barking at the wrong tree here. Just my 2 cents.
  4. This is an improvement over the previous OS called Armbian-Reforged V1.0 - XFCE4 is now the main DE - File Size has been reduced to 2.9Gb This build of TwisterOS Armbian target RK3399 devices supported by Armbian. the only required step after flashing the sd card it's to rename the DTB label inside /boot/armbianEnv.txt to your device DTB (you can find the DTB files on /boot/dtb/rockchip/ folder). after first boot, you should change the default password for user and root with passwd and sudo passwd respectively. Also, remember to resize your sd card/emmc manually from gnome disks to fill your entire disk space. This is a beta and we understand it's not as stable as we would like due current problems Armbian have with xfce4 Desktop Environment. We rely on Armbian and what those devs can do to make it more stable. We expect some feedback and contributions from other devs to help as to improve this build that target newcomers on ARM Linux Enjoy it Gentleman! https://drive.google.com/file/d/1u67HPOCiYjlqzt-JJGfshOKjYFdd7D15/view?usp=sharing
  5. I was really worried my temps were reaching 77 degrees at full load for my new RockPi4C running latest Armbian w/ 5.8.13-rockchip64 kernel. Disappointing seeing Radxa not been able to offer a better heatsink/cooling solution for their SBC's, even if it's more expensive. I ended spending way more that trying to lower my CPU temps. Just ordered a ecoPI PRO HP Aluminum housing for ROCK PI 4C case. Will see how it goes with it. Thank's to this post, I ordered from amazon some Artic MX-4 thermal paste, Copper shims and a M3 Hex Brass Standoff Male-Female Bolt kit. I managed to lower my CPU temps to an acceptable 57 degrees at full load. That's some impressive 20 degrees less. My Average CPU temps are now around 50 most of the time when I working on my SBC. I got 20mmx20mm and 1.2mm thickness copper shims but seems like I applying some pressure on the PCB corners. Maybe I should've ordered some 0.8mm thick copper shims instead. Having Armbian 20.08.7 Focal running at 2.02 and 1.51Ghz on governor performance is a nice feature.
  6. I just did from CLI: sudo apt install chromium-browser Running on Focal desktop stable 4.9.y
  7. Got this annoying error on Chromium browser which came installed with Focal w/ 4.9y. To fix it, I just downloaded chromium-browser via CLI and created a launcher link on desktop and works as intended. BTW, it downloaded via snap. Since downloaded Version 84.0.4147.105 (Official Build) snap (64-bit) is "different" than Version 83.0.4103.116 (Developer Build) built on Debian 10.4, running on Debian bullseye/sid (64-bit), I have both versions installed on Armbian Focal on my Odroid-N2.
