    Sorry I should have been clearer. If I can download the Armbian source and do my own modifications I want to build and Armbian image for my MiniM8S and MiniMXIII (the HW in thos boxes seems to be pretty similar, only different wifi chip IFAIS). So what I'm asking for is a HowTo to compile and build a complete bootable image.

    @balbes150 Can you elaborate a bit about making an image for MiniM8S/MiniMXIII, I found this on the net: http://www.librecalc.com/en/blog/realiser-une-distribution-debian-personalisee-pour-arm9/ Does it apply to "our" tv-boxes? Or is there a better HowTo somewhere?

    I don't understand the question, which permission? To edit /boot/hdmi.sh? You can just edit hdmi.sh on some other computer, if it is windows you don't need special permission, if on linux you can start the editor with the sudo command.

    In that case a hdmi to VGA adapter would do the trick, you can get one from Aliexpress.com or Banggood. I think that is your best bet

    Do I understand correctly that your monitor does not have hdmi-input? If you have DVI or VGA you can get an adapter hdmi->DVI or hdmi->VGA.

    I'm no guru at this but as far as I know the VPU does only video processing and the rendering is either done i SW or in the GPU if supported. I don't know about Balbes images but I remember him mentioning that the no-mali images have support for quadcore in Kodi.

    I don't know the answer to 1&2 but for 3, the VPU is the video processing unit. Unlike PC-graphics cards the Amlogic does not have the GPU and VPU integrated but as two separate processors. This implies that the GPU can be used for other tasks without interfering with the video output.

    @balbes150 I'm running Armbian_5.44_S9xxx_Ubuntu_xenial_3.14.29_mate_20180515, sound, wifi, ethernet and BT (with external adapter) works fine so I'm pretty happy with this image but the search function in Synaptic Packet Manager is extremly slow, any idea why?

    Mega has a daily limit for free users, I downloaded 6 gig yesterday without problems for free.

    Since I'm not familiar with the system I don't really know what to look for, but I connected a wired network, started some games and applications which all started fine. When I clicked shutdown I could see it stopping eth0 so appares that wired network works. Shutdown was completet.

    Well! Using the newest image and meson-gxbb-p200.dtb as dtb.img I have some result. It does try to boot from SD card but goes into kernel panic complaining that it can't mount rootfs on mmcblk0p1, so obviously not support for the internal memory. However, from a usb stick on a 4-port hub with mouse and keyboard connected to the rear of Mini-M8s I have the system running. Anything you want me to try?

    Just to be sure I use the correct version, could you give me the link to the latest version?

    Managed to mount it on a Linux computer and change to the Mini-m8s dtb but still same result. Boot logo appare again and again, seems to me loke it resets itself during initial boot.

    Since I could not mount the SD card on my windows computer where I wrote the image I did not get the chance to select any dtb... EDIT: I could give it a try on a Linux computer?

    The Yocto image does not boot on my Mini M8S, neither from SD nor from USB. The box's boot logo shows up, the screen goes dark for a few seconds and the whole thing start over again (and again and again....)

    In other words, if I want to utilize the GPU there is no point buying a Beelink GT1 box?

    Does any image have drivers for this GPU and will it be utilized? Or is this GPU directly compatible with the Mali-450?

    Does any of the images have support for the Mali-T820MP3 GPU which is in the Beelink GT1 box? I'm considering to buy one....

    Maybe you should explain why you want to reimage and what you want to do with the new image?
