  1. I was more hoping to drum up some interest and support around Armbian for this topic. Android is great, but it has a long ways to go before it is running smooth on the Tinkerboard SBC (at least from my testing). Is Chrome supported on Android? or Chromium? I don't think Chromium supports the WindeVine plugin required for Netflix playback. Just thought maybe we could fill this gap with Armbian. I have spoken to many others in this same boat. SBCs I think could make really cheap, and powerful streaming devices and a cool, fun, cheap alternative to a chromecast, firestick, or roku.
  2. Breaking the ice here. So hello everyone. I am still entry into SBCs and have been loving every moment of it. I started with the Raspberry PI 3B, and have recently been playing with the new Asus Tinkerboard. One of my SBC projects is to build a little media streaming device for some dumb monitors with HDMi input I have lying around. The Tinkerboard was very appealing to me because of its gigabit Ethernet, I thought it would make a much better quality internet streaming device. We seem to be lacking a browser for ARMh7 that can support Netflix and other like services playback. chromium is missing the needed WideVine plugin, and I have yet to find a working Firefox plug-in. Anyone have any ideas or workarounds?
  3. Hey guys! I am new here and am just beyond my entry point into the Single Board Computer world. I am running the new Asus Tinkerboards, along with Raspberry PI 3 Bs. Armbian really helped me to get started on this type of hardware and I am very interested in contributing to this project. Any suggestions on areas newbies can help out might be helpful? I can say that Armbian's Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS (Xenial Xerus) Desktop image (that is still in test) out performs the Asus provided Android and DebIan images of TinkerOS. It was not until I found Armbian, that I could actually keep the Tinkerboard up and running smoothly. Easy install! Easy image creation! I have been focusing on getting Docker to run cleanly on the Tinkerboard and have had the best luck running Armbian. One of the primary reasons I am testing the new Asus Tinkerboard is for it's Gigabit Ethernet capability, for streaming. I am interested in converting some old HDMI monitors into "Smart Monitors" and have been trying to figure out a work-around for streaming things like Netflix. Limitations around streaming due to browser support / plug-in support (Chromium / widevine plugin) has been a roadblock. I think the Tinkerboard would be a great streaming device if that compatibility were to come along. Any areas like this I would be more than happy to help research. Please let me know how I can be of any assistance. I will be testing both Desktop and Server releases for Tinkerboard over the next bit. I will be sure to provide feed back both here and via GitHub. Happy to be here! WeatherCloud
