  1. [SOLUTION] As you can see my setup with hooked up "things", only my lte stick is not attached. LOT (list of things) SDD Samsung in the (ICY)box. Camera attached Serial for my terminal Network LAN Network USB Edimax 300 GB or MB (who cares, hehehe) 3G Modem working Bus 008 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 007 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 006 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 004 Device 032: ID 0e8d:00a5 MediaTek Inc. All of a sudden I had this crazy idea to crank up the voltage a little and voila -> approx at 5.2 I had a crazy dmesg output that the drive had read errors and cache issues. Then later I got it running at 5.25 and further perform without errors at 5.3. So I set the perfect safe level of no failure to 5.35. So what do you say about that? OPI -> into the bin? Now this setup, where it is fully headless (no HDMI/DVI, etc. -> all powered off, the DRAM set to lowest 480, but all cores powered up) we can definitly say on peak performance it uses 5W. Peak performance is Modem SMS and internet up/down from and to harddrive and surfing through hotspot. all the best and I hope to solve a lot of SATA problems here and gave a real view of performance/consumption.
  2. Hi, I have ICYBOX 2.5" external Storagebox, I tried an old IDE->USB and a western Digital USB3.0 External Drive which has already the Bridge on board. If you want to know the USB ID's please let me know. lsusb views all other usb devices like RTL8192CU from edimax and a Serial port...etc It is plugged in at the moment....and it does not matter where to plug it in... I tried it all and dmesg does not recognize it at all, it is like invisible. USB works as I can guess, but how to enable SATA at all, because maybe it is disabled. On my Laptop I get for ICYBOX that: Bus 001 Device 006: ID 152d:2509 JMicron Technology Corp. / JMicron USA Technology Corp. JMS539 SuperSpeed SATA II 3.0G Bridge (be aware that this is sold as USB2.0 and has the plug) For WD External I get Bus 001 Device 007: ID 1058:25a2 Western Digital Technologies, Inc. (USB3.0 or higher plug) In order to get USB and the Camera to work I had to install 5.2, then update, upgrade and then to change the script.bin to the latest in found in /boot/bin/, then camera worked and I was happy. Actually It would be enough if somebody could tell me which bridge is supported, respectively where to look for it?
  3. Hello, Now I got 3 different sata -> USB Brigdes but none of them are recognized by any of the USB Ports. I was just wondering which sata is build onto a orangepi 2 plus so that it works. Is it even connected internally via USB? Anything is helpful, since I would like to install mediavault and it does not really make sense. :-> all the best
  4. Hi, it is not Plus, just a https://linux-sunxi.org/Orange_Pi_PC to make sure we talk about the same. Just tried it and it didn't do anything different as before... [ISP] isp platform_id = 5![CSI_ERR][GC2035]sensor_read err at sensor_detect![CSI_ERR][GC2035]chip found is not an target chip. and if I try to remove the drivers, vfe_v4l2 then crash and burn: .... 5. Hello, tried what you suggested like that: freshly booted into: (lsb_release -a) Distributor ID: Debian Description: Debian GNU/Linux 8.8 (jessie) Release: 8.8 Codename: jessie with kernel: 3.4.113-sun8i modprobe gc_2035 modprobe vfe_v4l2 and dmesg after that looked like: [ISP] isp platform_id = 5! [CSI_ERR][GC2035]sensor_read err at sensor_detect! [CSI_ERR][GC2035]chip found is not an target chip. and I got a orange PI with H3 and 1GB any help would be supergreat. all the best
  6. Hi, well is it not a module problem? As it sounds like it is a boot configuration problem as graki said, but zador.blood.stained explained different. I was fiddeling quite a while without making it work. I recompiled the kernel with newest sources -> did not make any differences. So what is the action to take to make it work? Thanks a lot
  7. OK, now I got it all sorted out: 1.) Igors documentation on compilation through vagrant is flawless and works like a charm -> produced an image of Armbian for OrangePi PC which booted and recognized all USB Devices 3.4.113-sunxi8 O<-check OK 2.) I loaded gc2035 for the camera -> checked dmesg O<-check OK 3.) I loaded vfe_v4l2 to get video0 device -> checked dmesg: [ 77.209552] [ISP] isp platform_id = 5! work? is there a way since if I use the image of OrangePi Community -> same Distro Jessie8 the USB devices will not work at all so is it not possible to marry both distributions to one functioning both devices? Unfortunately I have not much kernel experience, but if somebody could tell what to do I can gain experience and will try to acomplish that. all the best from the Armbinator
  8. Hello, to all OrangePI PC enthusiasts. Well I'm in the community of those who definitely underestimated the Orange of the PI, but let me share my burden :-) for the fun of it. It started with the camera- gc2035 and vfe_v4l2 modules. Had to try a couple of images until I got it by luck I guess - after that I found out that every image I use is not capable of having a FTDI device connected to "ANY" USB Port (OK, you got me, I didn't try the microUSB and I won't). After that I tried no matter what I wanted to connect to USB it was not even recognized. Now I'm back in changing/swapping around Images until I found one that let me plug anything I want into the USB Ports and it worked (It was Ubuntu xenial5.25), but in exhange for that I could not ever get the camera working again. OK-> now I start compiling with the instructions from igors github page https://github.com/armbian/build and I couldn't compile a single one ??? Now I'm into the vagrant approach, still doing something while typing here, let's see. My question here is to be precise and focused on the topic: Is there an image out there which has both? The Cam and the USB working together or is it bound to some exclusivity? If yes where can I find it, or what do I have to do it to make it? all the best Arminator
